Unit 6 An old man tried to move the mountains.
单元话题:本单元讨论的主题( Topic)是“传说和故事( Legends and stories)”,其功能项目( Functions)是“讲故事( Tell a story)"。
语言目标( Target language)是学会连词unless, as soon as以及so..that结构的用法。
在本单元结束时我们要达到的教学目标是学会谈论和复述传说故事,激发学生对于传统文化的热情。
教学过程:一、回顾中国经典传统故事,学习其英文表达。

二、以愚公移山为例,学习用英文讲故事
How to tell stories ?
1.讲故事的几点要素
time时间(一般过去时) place地点people人物
the beginning起因the happening经过the ending结果
2.以《愚公移山》为例开始讲故事
①The beginning 开头
Time时间(一般过去时)
Once upon a time =(Long long ago ) 很久很久以前
People人物There was a very old man called Yu Gong. 有一位叫.......的老人.......
Reason 起因There were two mountains in front of his house. They were so big and high that it took a long way to walk to the other side.
②The happening 经过
Yu Gong told his family that they should all help him to move the mountains.
One day, a man told Yu Gong that he could never do it because he was too old .As soon as the man finished talking, Yu Gong said that his family could continue to move the mountains after he died.
So Yu Gong and his family kept on digging day after day and year after
year.
③The ending结尾
Finally, a god was so moved by Yu Gong that he sent two gods to take the mountains away.
This story reminds us that you can never know what’s possible unless you try to make it happen.
三、知识点总结:
1.They were so big and high that it took a long way to walk to the other side.
so...that...如此...以至于... 引导结果状语从句,如:He was so excited that he couldn't say a word.
拓展:...so that ...以便\为了... 引导目的状语从句,如:He gets up early so that he can catch the bus.
2.As soon as the man finished talking, Yu Gong said that his family could continue to move the mountains after he died.
as soon as ...“一......就...... ”引导时间状语从句。
注意:当主句是一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时表将来。
如:I will write you as soon as I get there.
3.So Yu Gong and his family kept on digging day after day and
year after year.
day after day and year after year. “日复一日,年复一年”如:We will work hard day after day and year after year.
4.This story reminds us that you can never know what’s possible unless you try to make it happen.
① remind V.提醒,使想起
remind sb.+that 从句意为“提醒某人.......”
拓展:remind sb. of/about sth. 使某人想起某事如:It reminds me of the old days . remind sb. to do sth. 提醒某人去做某事如: Please remind her to come back early.
②unless conj.“除非,如果不”,引导条件状语从句,相当于“if... not ”如:I won't leave her unless I know she's all right.=I won't leave her if I don't know she's all right.
