What parents owe their children?
I take the firm position that parents do not owe their children a college education. If they can afford it ,they can certainly send them to the best universities. But they must not feel guilty if they can't If the children really want to go, they'll find away. There are plenty of loans and scholarships for the bright and eager ones who can't afford to pay.
When children grow up and want to get married their parents do not owe them a down payment on a house. They do not have the duty to baby-sit their grandchildren If they want to do it must be considered a favor not an obligation.
Do parents owe their children anything? Yes ,they owe them a great deal.
One of their obligation is to give their children a personal worth .A child who is constantly made to feel stupid and unworthy .constantly compared with brighter brothers, sisters, or cousins will become so unsure,so he/she is afraid of failing that he/she won't try at all. Of course they should be properly corrected when they do wrong, but it's often better to let children learn their mistakes by themselves in time. All our parents should do is to trust them respect them, tolerate them and give them chances to try and fail .They must learn to stand failure. When criticisms are really needed ,they should be balanced with a smile and a
Kiss .That is the way children learn.
Parents owe their children a set of solid values to build their lives. This means teaching them to respect the rights and opinions of others; it means being respectful to elders, to teachers, and to the law The best way to teach such values is by deeds .A child who sees no laughter and no love at home will have difficulty in laughing and loving.
No child asks to be born. If you bring a life into the world, you owe the child something.

Some children show preferences for friends at an early age. At 9 or 10,children become a were of differences, they begin to form cliques(圈子,派系).At l0 0r 12 years of age ,as they are separate from parents, identification with peers may become enlarged and cliques may form and change frequently. Cliques are small, particular groups of friends who share common characteristics and common interests(music, dress, sports, etc.).Each member is either directly or indirectly connected to other members. They provide social occasions and help kids develop a sense of belonging support and protection Cliques improve self-respect by making kids feel wanted ,and they enable the cliques member to develop a sense of identity and to deal with social events around themselves.
While, cliques can be opposed to other kids and other cliques. In some cases cliques members can become harmful to outsiders by putting them down using teasing, backstabbing, and even violence. Although girls are socialized to suppress physical displays of violence ,it can take the form of intimidating (恐吓人的)behavior. Cliques can pollute individuality and prevent members from mixing with members of other groups. They usually require some degree of agreement in appearance, attitude, or behavior. They can drive away members for no apparent reason, and they can pressure kids into group activities in order to
fit in , creating interpersonal cliques and violence.

Believe it or not, there are times when you don't agree with your mother or even quarrel with her .Then what should you do?
Stay calm It is normal that you feel sad and angry after quarrelling with with her, but don't go and make big decisions like moving out, or running away from your home because not only will your friends and parents miss you , but it is dangerous for a teenager to do so.
Try to understand your mother. When your mom shouts and screams at you, she is not angry with you but she's disappointed about what you've done. This is because she cares a lot about you and doesn't want you to make bad choices which will do harm to your future. She is just trying to do you good Remember it is never good to say "Mom I really hate you", because it has a bad effect on your relationship. Don't shout at your mom because she is your mother and she deserves. respect from you. If you're angry with her, don't do things that would only make her angry. Think of ways to make up. If you feel scared to approach her, wait until she cools down a bit And if you dare not to speak face to face with her, find another way to approach her, for example, write a letter to her. By and by, you will find chances to talk to your mother. You should apologize to her first for your bad attitude and then tell her what you are thinking in your mind in a very polite way.
Ask for advice, and you will make up sooner or later
