Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. There were events around the world in memory of those who died in the conflict. We have picked out three of them in European countries. Let's take a look.
Belgium
In a park, the famous Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen had an exhibition called Coming World, Remember Me. The work consisted of 600,000 individual(个别的) clay sculptures, one for each person killed during the World War. In the center of the exhibition was a big egg made of clay, symbolizing a new world.
UK
In a small town called Aldridge, almost 100 houses in one street were covered with 24,000 poppies and statues of soldiers. They stood for the men from the area who had been killed in the war. The flowers were chosen because of a poem written by the Canadian doctor John McCrea in 1915.
They made people think of fields of blood.
France
The British artist Guy Denning arrived in La Feuille, a small town in the northwest of France, to stick life-size drawings of soldiers who never came back home. Armed with glue and a brush, Denning stuck his drawings carefully on walls. Before long 112 men, mainly young adults, were brought back to mind, if not to life.
21.What do we know about Coming World, Remember Me?

With schools close in the UK during the COVID-19outbreak, most children must now be homeschooled. Parents have found themselves not only having to balance work and having the children at home but also having to try and teach them. How can you keep your children focused while learning?
Nicola Anderson--Head of Customer Support at the UK’s leading online tutoring service My Tutor, provides new, up-to-date tips to hearten parents at this difficult time and advises how they can structure their children’s days.
One is to keep to a regular timetable so it still feels like your child is taking part in the school day. Ms Anderson said, “Children of all ages do well on routine and boundaries; schools provide this in abundance and it will make most children feel secure and happy if they can follow a similar timetable for their homeschooling.”
Another tip is to create an environment which is favorable to l earning. She said, “The
environment should be free from distractions and ideally near to an open window, to provide them with appropriate levels of fresh air and natural light. Some children find it comfortable and helpful to have quiet, instrumental music playing in the background to help them to focus, but this isn’t for everyone.”
Using technology to help with your child’s learning is also advised. Many schools are offering online classes and resources to help and companies are reducing or even not charging their fees during this time.
It is also important to keep physical exercise as a part of your routine. Joe Wicks, otherwise known as The Body Coach, has been keeping kids healthy with daily 10 minute workouts for children on his Youtube channel. Ms And erson said, “It can be anything from running around the garden, walking the dog, a game of football or dancing around your living room!“
24.Who is the text intended for?
A.Students B.Teachers. C.Coaches. D.Parents.
25.What may Nicola Anderson agree?
A.To allow children to adjust schedule freely.
B.To offer children peaceful study environment.
C.To recommend high-tech to online schools.
D.To combine routine with kids’ mental health.
26.What is the text mainly about?
A.How to improve homeschooling efficiency.
B.How to obtain online learning resources.
C.How to study attentively at home.
D.How to design a proper schedule.

Who is Li Ziqi? For 7 million watchers on YouTube and 20 million micro bloggers on Sina Weibo, that’s an easy question to answer. She holds an account on each of the two platforms, and uploads her videos about the detailed cooking processes of various kinds of traditional Chinese food.
Li is a craftsperson in a rural area of Southwest China’s Sichuan province. Different from others, she is fond of showing the whole process from the field to the table. For example, in her video about spicy tofu, she starts with harvesting the soy beans, grinding them into powder and making tofu, and
then cooks it. Her works also include building a homemade oven to bake bread.
Like the rest of us, Li was probably not born with skills to create the things we see in her videos, but she uses everything and everybody around her as a teacher. Li never attended college, but she shows us how useful self-learning can be in an age of plenty of learning resources.
Li lets the world see one of the most important aspects of the Chinese people, how they live their daily lives. She lets the world know that Chinese people love good food and are good at making art out of even simple raw materials, which have caught the hearts of her global audience.
Moreover, Li’s charming videos show the simple joys of country living, which she can improve by using her head, heart and hands. While others become the product of their environment, she turns her surroundings into her product. Others see problems and feel frustrated, while Li goes and fixes them. We, therefore, can choose to be inspired by her, to seek the artistic solution and enjoy the creativity, joy and relaxation that “doing” life could offer.
27.What is special about Li’s videos?
A.Baking bread in a modern way.
B.Both on YouTube and Sina Weibo.
C.Mixing Chinese with western food.
D.Showing planting and cooking processes.
28.What has interested global audience in Paragraph 4?
A.Traditional Chinese tofu.
B.Turning daily life into art.
C.Chinese people’s country life.
D.The detailed cooking programme.
29.The author suggests that we should ________.
A.enjoy watching Li’s videos
B.fix the broken things by ourselves
C.use surroundings to improve our lives
D.have the simple joy of country living
30.What is the author’s attitude to Li’s videos?
A.Favorable B.Indifferent. C.Doubtful. D.Negative.
D
Are some people born clever, and others born stupid? Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experiences? Strangely enough, the answer to both these questions is yes. To some extent our intelligence is given to us at birth, and no amount of special education can make a genius out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surroundings. Thus the limits of a person's intelligence are fixed at birth, but whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supported in a number of ways.
It is easy to show that intelligence is to some extent something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random (随机地) from the population, it is likely that their degrees of intelligence will be completely different. If on the other hand we take two identical (完全相同的) twins they will very likely be as intelligent as each other. Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth.
Imagine now that we take two identical twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the work is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this indicates that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all, are likely to have similar degrees of intelligence.
31.In Para. 1, the word "surroundings" means ________.
A.Intelligence B.Life C.environments D.Housing
32:According the passage, if a child is born with low intelligence, what might happen to him later?
A.Become a genius.
B.Still become a genius if he should be given special education.
C.Reach his intelligence limits in rich environment.
D.Never reach his intelligence in his life.
33:What can we learn from the example of the twins going to a university and to a factory?
A.The importance of their intelligence.
B.The role of environment on intelligence.
C.The importance of their jobs
D.The part that birth plays
34:What statement is TRUE according to the passage?
A.No education can help make a genius.
B.Personality is important as intelligence which was given to people at birth.
C.People who have similar degree of intelligence must be relatives.
D.Environment influences people in intelligence developing.
35.The best title for this article would be________.
A.On Intelligence
B.What Intelligence Means
C.We are Born with Intelligence
D.Environment Plays a Part in Developing Intelligence
