Kids who talk regularly with their fathers are happier than kids who don’t, according to a new research.
Children who converse with their fathers “most days〞 considered them-selves
87 out of 100 on a happiness degree, while those who rarely talk to their dads got
a score of 79. The study results showed the findings “highly important〞, because the research has proved that a pers on’s happiness later in life has something to do with their parents Relationship during the teen years.
Dads may not have as many meaningful conversations (谈话) with their kids as moms, but they tend to roughhouse with them more than moms do, and the resear ch shows that’s important for kids’ development, too. There are new studies showing that this kind of play inspires kids to explore in kids’ future life. Studies also show that dads often give power to their children and encourage them to explore and meet new people. And dads tend to be more in charge of playtime than moms, too.
“Mothers help children feel connected> expected and wanted,〞 said Patrick Tolan, “Fathers teach them how to interact with others and how to control themselves when they feel their n eeds aren’t being met.〞
One study from School of Psychology, Université de Mentréal observed parents interacting with their toddlers (刚学会走路的孩子) while children were put into “risky〞 situations. In one experiment, a stranger came up toeing the kids and in
another, the kids saw toys placed at the top of stairs. The dads followed their kids at a distance, which encouraged kids to explore.
“We found that fathers are more Likely than mothers to activate exploratory behavior by being less protective Daniel Paquette said. And as any in-dependent-minded child knows, the chance to explore without an overprotective mom on board leads to even more happiness.
5. The underlined phrase converse with?, in Paragraph 2 may mean ________.
A. talk with
B. compete with
C. work with
D. play with
6. If dads roughhouses with kids, kids ________.
A. will become more violent in later life
B. will be active in finding more in life
C. will have no pity for others
D. will treat their parents badly
7. Why did kids with dads explore more?
A. Because dads are more confident in themselves.
B. Because dads are usually careless parents.

You wake up in the mornings the day is beautiful and the plans for the day are what you have been looking forward to for a long time. Then the telephone rings, you say hello, and the drama starts. The person on the other end has a depressing tone in his voice as he starts to tell you how terrible his morning is and that there is nothing to look forward to. Are you still in a wonderful mood? Impossible!
Communicating with negative people can wash out your happiness. It may not change what you think, but communicating long enough with them will make you feel depressed
for a moment or a long time.
Life brings ups and downs, but some people are stuck in the wrong idea that life has no happiness to offer. They only feel glad when they make others feel bad. No wonder they can hardly win others’ pity or respect.
When you communicate with positive people, your spirit stays high and therefore more positive things are attracted. When the dagger (匕首) of a negative person is put into you, you will always feel down.
Sometimes we have no choice but to communicate with negative people. It could be a co-worker or a relative. In this case»say what needs to be s aid as little as possible. Sometimes letting out your anger back to the negative person may make you feel good, but this will lower you to that same negative level and they won’t feel ashamed of themselves about that.
Negativity often affects happiness without even being realized. The negative words of another person at the start of a day can cling to (附着) you throughout the rest of your day, which makes you feel bad and steals your happiness. Life is too short to feel negative. Stay positive and avoid negativity as much as possible.
8. The purpose of the first paragraph is to ________.
A. make a comparison
B. offer an evidence
C. introduce a topic
D. describe a daily scene
9. How can negative people affect us?
A. By influencing our emotion.
B. By telling us the nature of life.
C. By changing our ways of thinking.
D. By comparing their attitudes to life with ours.
10. According to the passage,to reduce negative people’s influences on us,we are advised to _______.
A. change negative people’s attitudes to life
B. show our dissatisfaction with negative people
C. make negative people feel ashamed of themselves
D. communicate with negative people as little as possible
11. What is the author’s attitude towards negative people?
A. Favorable.
B. Critical.
C. Indifferent.
D. Supportive.
C 9. A 10. D 11. B

例如:小题4由第四段When the dagger (匕首) of a negative person is put into you, you will always feel down.

When I was young, I wished for a good car and a big house. That was my idea about success. I took all the advanced classes and tried to do well in the exams with my
mind focused on going to a key school. I just knew that I would somehow become famous and be able to afford the car and the dream house. All the way through the previous years, my mind was planning this beautiful future.
Then in the eleventh grade, many losses changed my mind. First, one of my friends died at 16. Soon after, my great-grandmother passed away, followed by my beloved teacher who taught me when I was in the fourth grade. These events left me not knowing what to do or where to go. Death had never touched me so closely.
After a long period of emptiness, it finally struck me: life is not promised, neither is future success. Though I was attempting to achieve material success, I was not enjoying my daily life. I realized that finding inner peace, purpose and happiness will stick with me forever and that is real success.
Enjoying life’s precious unexpected events makes an ordinary person more successful than a wealthy person who isn’t conte nt and takes-everything for granted. The summer before my junior year in. high school (高中三年级), my attitude changed greatly. Instead of memorizing facts, I began to learn skills. Instead of focusing on the future, I focused on today and then the blessings and successes came with it.
I still get excellent grades, but now I devote weeks to studying instead of struggling for exams, and I think about the future with a deeper sense of meaning. For me, being successful means truly living life each day.
12. The reason why the author changed his idea about success is that ________.
A. he can’t afford his house
B. his beloved teacher died
C. he didn’t know what to do or where to go
D. he lost a few beloved persons in a short time
13. According to the author, which of the following is the real success for a person?
A. Being famous.
B. Truly living life each day,
C. Having a good car and a big house.
D. Material achievements.
14. What does the author want to tell the readers?
A. The true meaning of life.
B. The true meaning of studying*
C. How to achieve success*
D. His opinion about success,
15. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A. The author thinks that success is not promised.
B. His teacher died before the death of his great-grandmother.
C. The author didn’t do well in all the exams.
D. He didn’t want to take all the exams.

look forward to期待、期盼,后面接v+ing 形式,所以be改成being。
所以as改成for。
which gives me a great sense of achievement.作定语,修饰整个主句内容,且有逗号和主句隔开,所以which gives me a great sense of achievement.
I’d appreciate it if假如能……
Next winter, which you will spend in Harbin, I’m sure, will be another
exciting holiday.
I walked in our garden, where Tom and Jimmy were tying a big sign onto one of the trees.
Have you seen the film Titanic, whose leading actor is world famous?
My friend, who has served on the International Olympic Committee all his life, is retiring next month.
The famous basketball star, who tried to make a comeback, attracted a lot of attention.
The film, whose director is an old man, is very instructive.
