1.ask some students to read the new words first and correct their pronunciation
2.play the tape and have them read after the tape
3.give them a few minutes to read the new words freely ，tell them if they can’t read the words，ask the teacher .
step 3 listening
1.Before you start
a) students work in pairs，matching the key words with the definitions.
b) check their answers.
C )ask them to read the key words and the definitions.
2. listen to learn
exercise 2:
a) ask four students to read the listening strategies. make sure they get the meaning.
b) give them a few minutes to read through the summary.
c)play the tape once for students to listen and write abbreviations for the missing words.
c) play again for students to complete the gaps.
d)check their answers.

a) let the students read through the questions .
b) play the tape two or three times.
c) Ask some students to answer the questions

a) listen to a student phone-in programme about revising for exams and complete the table.
