When Mark Dunajtschik escaped from the prison camp near the end of WWII, he was forced to leave his homeland of Yugoslavia.Five years after the war ended, he became a toolmaker. The trade he mastered then may have decided on his career, but it was the life lessons he learned that finally shaped the character of the man he’d someday become.
Almost without housing in post-war Germ, Dunajtschik’s only choice at that time was living in a shelter for the mentally and physically disabled.Seeing the daily challenges his housemates faced, he realized how just lucky he was, “Because I was given the opportunity to live in that home, which was founded by an industrialist in the 1880s, no that I am in a position where I can also do something, naturally I want to do it.” he told the New Zealand Herald.
At the age of 85, as one of the most successful industrialists in New Zealand, Dunajtschik is ready to give
back.
Already known for his charitable works —having financed the country’s Life Flight Trust helicopter rescue service —Dunajtschik is devoted to construction of a new children’s hospital in Wellington. In 2017, he spent $50 million dollars of his own money toward building it.But Dunajtschik had no desire to simply throw money at the new hospital. He took a hands-on approach to all his projects.
Over the summer, construction passed a major milestone. As Dunajtschik and Spotswood looked on, the industrial support cranes(起重机)were cleared from the site, signaling the ousside was complete.“Those people that are born with a healthy body and mind can look after themselves and those unfortunate to be born with, or suffering ill health, need our help,” said Dunajtschik.

On Tuesday, the Amazon Company introduced Amazon One, which connects your palm(手掌)print to a stored credit card so you can place your hand above a sensor to enter and leave easily after buying at checkout-free Amazon(AMZN)Go stores.
Dilip Kumar, Amazon’s vice president told CNN Business that Amazon One had been used since long before the COVID-19.But the timing could be a positive for Amazon: Customers may find such payment convenient, and businesses also find it hopeful.
Yet the use of the Amazon One could raise eyebrows, too.Amazon has once come under fire from people who care about its facial-recognition software. When it comes to Amazon One data.Kumar said all palm pictures are coded and Amazon stores them online.
“I encourage people to try it, see how they like the experience,” Kumar said. You can hold your palm above an
Amazon One scanner to enter the store. Then, anything you take will be automatically(自动地)charged to the credit card connected to their palm.Amazon One will make shopping faster and more convenient. Before trying it, users must place a credit card in an Amazon One device and hold a palm above it, facing down, so it can be scanned. The camera in it takes many pictures of the fine lines of the palm, and catches some details, which can’t be seen in typical photographs.
Amazon One now can be bought at two of the Amazon Go stores in Seattle, at 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street, and in the South Lake Union neighborhood.

As a mother, let me begin by saying that I am one of “those” parents, maybe one of the few: I am excited that my sons are able to receive instruction online and are able to learn at home.I’m unbelievably happy that they haven’t had to be in a school building all these months.I feel more comfortable with this scenario than I would with any other.
I know I am in a good position —I am able myself to work from home most days of the week.We have not had issues with access to technology and have backup plans for those problems we have experienced.I know there are many more people who are not as fortunate. That being said, one of the greatest advantages that online learning has brought is that I get to hear my sons being taught. My middle school son and I work in the same room, and I have heard his teachers giving instruction.
This cannot be said enough: Teachers, you are amazing. Not only are you teaching good, solid, and in many cases, timely content, but you are doing so much more.I have heard every teacher do wellness check-ins with their students, both in a structured way and just casually, on a day-to-day basis.I have heard teachers joking with their
students and still carry the topic of their lesson.I have heard teachers building close relations with students, despite being faced with a screenful of turned-off cameras, silenced mikes, and overactive chat boxes. My high school son’s teachers have been excellent at reaching out to him and to me to give him support and help direct him when he’s struggled. They have been kind and understanding and flexible.Online schooling has its shortcomings and challenges for both students and teachers, but for me as a parent, it has given me the opportunity to be in the classroom with my sons, to gain greater insight into how they are being taught and to have deeper conversations with them about the content of their learning.
32.What does the underlined word “scenario” probably mean?
A.Experiment.B.Schedule.C.Reference.D.Attitude.
33.What can we know about the mother?
A.She doesn’t need to work.B.She can stay at home most time.
C.She is expert at teaching.D.She can learn something online.
34.How does the author make her point acceptable in paragraph 3?
A.By telling stories.B.By making comparisons.
C.By giving comments.D.By offering
35.How does the author as a parent find online teaching?
A.Troublesome.B.Challenging.C.Meaningful.D.Difficult.

M: You look unhappy. What’s the matter?
W: I lent my dictionary to Sam yesterday. But he told me this morning that he had left it on the bus.
M: When will he learn to be more careful? He told me just now that his notebook was missing, too.I lent my pen to him last week, and he couldn’t find that, either.
W: Did he buy you a new one?
M: Yes.But it is different. That pen was a gift from my grandpa. It could never be replaced.
W: I’m so sorry to hear that.I just bought the dictionary last week. Now I have to buy a new one.
M: Will you go downtown to buy one this afternoon?
W: No.I’ll play table tennis with my aunt.I’ll go downtown tomorrow.
M: Could you ask your dad to give me a lift when you go there?
W: I’ll take the subway there. My dad will be away for a few days.He is driving to a conference in a neighboring city.
M: OK,then.I’ll take the bus.Thanks anyway.
