I was not interested in English before.Of course, I was not good at it, and I could hardly keep up with my classmates.But things changed after I met Miss Liu.
When I was a new student of the Second Senior Middle School in Xing Cheng, Miss Liu taught us English.She was only four or five years older than we were.She was very lovely, looking more like a schoolgirl than an English teacher.I loved her and respected her very much.She looked on me as a little sister of her own.Before long, we became good friends.And with her kind help, I liked English very much.I studied harder than before and little by little I made progress.
One Saturday afternoon she asked me to go to her office and took out a New Student's English—Chinese Dictionary.She put it in my hands and said, "I have another one； this I give to you.It will be useful to you.I hope you will study hard and try to be the first in your class！"
I accepted it and left the office with gratitude.
I opened the dictionary； on the first page was written "Try to be Number One！" From then on, I always remembered the words.They were the very words that encouraged me every moment.Whenever I read it, a strange feeling rose in my heart.I studied harder and harder, and made rapid progress in my lessons, especially in st year, in an English competition in our school, I won the first prize.
Now I have come to realize we must believe that we have ability to overcome difficulties.We must try our best until we succeed.

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students to study in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowhere in the world has the issue of female rights and interests been so much debated as in our society. Nowadays, plenty of universities limit the number of female students who study in some of subjects; therefore, many people think universities should accept equal numbers of men and female study in every subject, but others have a negative attitude. As far as I am concerned, I think men and women should gain equal educational opportunities, but accepting equal numbers of male and female, in every subject, is unnecessary and impossible. Therefore, I disagree with the view that universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. My argument in support of my view is as follows.
The main reason is that mode of thinking is different between female and male. Everyone, male and female, has equal right to study in universities, nevertheless, due to difference of in thought and views. Men and Women may represent varied study capability. A case in point is that men may possess more talent than women in mathematics, physics and like stuff. In the study of language, on the other hand, female shows stronger ability than male. In the history of human beings, most scientists, especially those who research abstract theories, are male. Another reason is that nature decides different directions of development between men and women. Today, although female's right is being increased, female still plays a different social role. Women are by nature good at housekeeping since the biological function of a woman is first to bring children into the world and then to bring them up and it has been proved by some scientists that women are not good at business management, political administration, etc. So, in the study of business and management, requiring equal numbers of male and female is not essential.
From what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that accepting equal numbers of male and female students in every subject is impossible and I also disagree with this point of view.

每个⼈都有平等的，男性和⼥性，在⼤学读书，不过，由于在思想和观点的差异。

男⼈和⼥⼈可能代表不同的学习能⼒。

⼀个典型的例⼦是，男性⽐⼥性更可能具有数学天赋，物理和喜欢的东西。

在语⾔的研究，另⼀⽅⾯，⼥性⽐男性更强的能⼒。

在⼈类的历史上，⼤多数科学家，尤其是那些研究抽象的理论，都是男性。

The southwestern coastal region has a humid mild marine climate. Sea winds that blow inland from the west are warmed by a current of warm water that flows through the Pacific Ocean. As a result， winter temperatures average above freezing and summers are mild. These warm western winds also carry moisture from the ocean.
Inland from the coast， the winds from the Pacific meet the mountain barriers of the coastal ranges and the Rocky Mountains. As they rise to cross the mountains， the winds are cooled， and their moisture begins to fall as rain. On some of the western slopes almost 200 inches (500cm) of rain fall each year.
More than half of British Columbia is heavily forested. On mountain slopes that receive plentiful rainfall， huge Douglas firs rise in towering columns. These forest giants often grow to be as much as 300 feet(90m) tall， with diameters up to 10 feet(3m). More lumber is produced from these trees than from any other kind of tree in North America. Hemlock， red cedar， and balsam fir are among the other trees found in British Columbia.
