A Summer's Painting
Summer vacation was finally here! No more waking up early, no more homework, and no more sitting in a classroom all day. I was so excited to have two whole months of freedom and fun.
On the first week of summer, my mom said we were going to repaint my bedroom. I wasn't too thrilled about that at first. Painting sounded like a lot of work during my vacation. But then Mom said I could pick any color I wanted! That got me interested.
Mom took me to the hardware store to pick out paint colors. There were so many to choose from - bright reds, cooler blues, greens like the grass, and even funky colors like purple and orange. The options were endless. I spent a long time looking at all the little color swatch cards.
Finally, I decided on a sunny yellow color called "Sunburst." It reminded me of warm summer days. I also picked a lighter
blue called "Sky Blue" for the trim around the windows and doors. With our paint colors picked out, we were ready to get started!
First, we had to prepare the room. That meant taking everything out - my bed, dresser, toys, everything. It looked so bare without my stuff in there. Mom put tarps over the floor and taped around the window frames to keep paint off them.
Then came the fun part - painting! Mom let me do the first brushstroke on the largest wall. We painted together
side-by-side, brushing the yellow sunburst up and down to cover the old boring white walls. After the first coat dried, we did a second coat to make the yellow really pop.
Painting the trim around the windows and door frames was trickier. You had to be really careful not to get blue on the yellow walls. Mom showed me how to a use a good quality angled brush to cut in neatly along the edges. It took a bit of practice, but I started to get the hang of it.
We took a break while the blue trim dried, then put on a second coat to make it nice and even. By the end of the weekend, my room was completely transformed! The sunny yellow walls made it look so bright and cheerful. I couldn't wait to move everything back in and add my personal touches.
Over the next week, I got new blue curtains and bedsheets to match the trim. I arranged all my favorite stuffed animals, books, and toys around the room. Mom hung some sunny artwork on the walls. It looked amazing when everything was all set up in my newly painted room.
That summer's painting project was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. I felt so proud that I had helped transform my bedroom into a cool new space. Whenever I walked in, the sunny yellow walls brightened my day and reminded me of that special summer. Painting was much better than I expected - and I can't wait until it's time to repaint again!

My Summer Painting
The last day of school was finally here! I couldn't wait for summer vacation to start. No more homework, no more waking up early, and two whole months of freedom. As I ran out of the classroom, teacher gave me a big smile. "Have a wonderful summer!" she called out. I was so excited, I practically skipped all the way home.
When I got home, Mom had a surprise for me. "Since you worked so hard in school this year, I got you a special present,"
she said, handing me a big art set filled with paints, brushes, paper, and lots of other supplies. I gasped in delight. Art was my favorite subject, but we didn't get to do much painting in school. "This is amazing! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed, giving her a huge hug.
After devouring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, I took my new art supplies out to the backyard. The warm summer sun felt so nice on my face. I set up under the big oak tree, the one with the tire swing hanging from a thick branch. Opening up the art box, I inhaled the smell of the new paints and smiled. So many beautiful colors to choose from!
I decided to paint the backyard just as I saw it. First, I sketched the outline of the tree trunk on my paper. Using a brown paint, I filled in the bark, making sure to add some texture with my brush strokes. Next came the leafy green branches stretching out in all directions, shading parts darker and leaving highlights where the sun peeked through.
For the grass, I used a bright, sunshine yellow for the areas in full light, and mixed in some darker greens for the shadowy spots under the tree. Little white, purple, and yellow wildflowers dotted the lawn here and there. In the distance, I painted the red
brick of our house and the blue sky with puffy white clouds drifting lazily by.
The hardest part was the tire swing. Getting the round shape right was tricky. I mixed some black paint into the brown to get just the right shade. After outlining the circle, I added dimensions and shadows to make it look realistic, like the old tire was twisting back and forth in the gentle breeze.
As I worked, I noticed some butterflies flitting about nearby flowers. What a perfect addition that would be! Using bright yellows, oranges, and blacks, I brought the butterflies to life with just a few strokes of the brush. To finish it off, I added some birds perched on the tree branches, singing their sweet summer songs.
When I finally leaned back to look at my completed painting, I felt so proud. It was like the backyard had come alive on my paper. The colors were so vibrant and beautiful. Streaks of green blended into smears of yellow and brown. Dabs of white, purple, and yellow punctuated the scene with splashes of wildflowers. The tire swing looked almost real enough to climb on.
"Wow, that's amazing!" a voice said. I turned to see Dad standing there, admiring my work. "You really captured the feel
of a summer day. The colors, the life, the joy of it all. You have a true talent, kid."
His praise made me smile from ear to ear. Mom came out too, carrying some lemonade. "This is just wonderful, sweetie. You turned a blank page into a living picture. We should frame this one for sure!"
Sitting under the oak tree, I sipped my cold lemonade and beamed with pride, so happy they appreciated my summer painting. This was going to be the best summer ever!

Summer Paintings
Summer is my favorite season! The warm weather, the sunny days, the fun activities - there is so much to love about summer. One of my favorite things is all the beautiful summer paintings artists have created over the years. Let me tell you about some of my favorites!
One stunning summer painting is "A Wheat Field with Cypresses" by the famous Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. In this vibrant painting from 1889, you can see a field of golden wheat gently blowing in the breeze under a bright blue sky filled with
fluffy white clouds. In the distance, there are tall, thin cypress trees reaching up towards the heavens. The colors Van Gogh used are so bold and full of energy, it makes you feel like you are standing right in the middle of that wheat field on a gorgeous summer day.
Another incredible summer scene was captured by the French painter Claude Monet in his work "Water Lilies and Willow Branches." Completed in 1920, this painting shows Monet's famous lily pond and the willow trees hanging over the edges. The water looks so smooth and peaceful, perfectly reflecting the willows and the bright green lily pads floating on top. Shades of pink, purple, yellow and white water lilies in full bloom add vivid pops of color. It's like a magical little summer oasis!
One of my personal favorite summer paintings is "The Dance" by French artists Pierre-Auguste Renoir. This joyful scene from 1909 depicts a group of lovely young women dancing together in a sunny park or garden. Their flowing dresses swirl as they circle with joined hands, and trees and flowers surround them. You can almost hear their laughing and feel the warm summer breeze. The whole painting seems to be glowing with
happiness and filled with the pleasure of a gorgeous summer day spent outdoors dancing with friends.
Another artist who captured the spirit of summer exceptionally well was American painter Edward Henry Potthast. His beach scenes like "A Bather" from 1909 show women and children relaxing, playing, and swimming along the beautiful shores of New York and New England in the early 1900s. In "A Bather," a young woman in a big floppy hat wades in the shallow waves with the sun glinting off the water. Just looking at this painting makes me long for a day of fun in the sun and surf!
Speaking of days at the beach, I also adore the summer seascapes of Russian artist Ivan Aivazovsky. One magnificent example is his 1856 work "The Ninth Wave," a powerful painting of crashing ocean waves under a dramatic stormy sky. While not a bright, cheerful summer scene, the strength and majesty of that rolling sea gives you a sense of the incredible power of nature in summertime. His use of light and shadow is breathtaking.
Then there are the iconic American summer paintings by artists like Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper. Homer's "Boys in a Pasture" from 1874 shows three country boys taking a break from farm work to relax in the shade of a tree on a hazy summer
afternoon. You can almost feel the heat and hear the buzzinginsects. And in Hopper's "Cape Cod Morning" from 1950, you see the back view of a man in a T-shirt gazing out towards the flat blue ocean on a quiet summer morning, making you wonder what he might be thinking about. Both of these paintings have such a wonderful sense of serenity and peacefulness.
I could go on and on about all the amazing summer artworks out there, but I'll end with one more masterpiece. "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" is an enormous and astounding painting by French artist Georges Seurat. Using a technique called Pointillism with tiny dots of color, Seurat created this intricate scene of Parisians at a popular park on an island in the Seine river. Completed in 1886, the canvas shows aarray of people relaxing in the park, having picnics, walking their dogs, rowing boats, and watching performers. The details are incredible - from the sun dappled scenes to the shadows on the ground to the exquisite rendering of fabric on the women's beautiful dresses. Just looking at this enormous work makes you feel immersed in a summer's day in the late 1800s.
I hope you can see why I love summer paintings so much! The colors, the scenes of nature, the delightful warm-weather
activities - they all capture the very essence of summer in ways that photographs can't quite achieve. These talented artists allow us to experience those magical summer moments again and again through their brushstrokes. So the next time a summer day rolls around, why not stay indoors for a little while and travel to different summer scenes through these incredible paintings? You might just find a new favorite!

A Summer Painting
Summer vacation is the best time of the year! No school, no homework, just fun in the sun all day long. This summer, I decided to capture the joy of the season by painting a picture. I love art class at school, and I've been practicing my painting skills. Now it was time to create my own summer masterpiece!
First, I had to gather all my art supplies. I found my paint set with lots of bright, vibrant colors. I made sure I had red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, and more. A real artist needs plenty of options! I also got a fresh canvas, some clean brushes, a cup for water, and an old rag. An artist's workspace has to be prepared just right.
Next, I thought about what I wanted to paint. Summer means so many amazing things - swimming pools, ice cream cones, cookouts, fireflies at night. How could I fit it all into one painting? Finally, I decided to paint my favorite summer scene - a bright, sunny day at the beach!
I started with the sky, using shades of blue mixed with white.
I made sure to leave a spot for the sun, which I painted with yellow and orange. Some cotton balls pulled apart made perfect puffy clouds. Using a toothpick, I added some seagulls flying overhead.
For the sand, I mixed yellow, tan, and brown colors together until I had just the right shade. I covered the bottom third of the canvas with my beach sand mixture. I even added a trail of footprints leading from the corner.
Next up, the gorgeous teal colored ocean! I mixed blue and green together until I had the perfect seaside shade. With a foam brush, I created rolling waves and hints of sea foam at the shore.
I stood back and admired my work so far. It already looked like a bright, sunny beach day!
But my painting still needed one more thing - some beach fun! With a skinny brush, I painted two stick figures enjoying the water. One had an inner tube and the other had swimming
trunks on. You could tell they were having a great time at the beach! To complete the picture, I added a beach ball, some buckets and shovels, and a bright umbrella.
When I was finally done, I had captured the spirit of summer perfectly. The bright colors, the beach setting, and all the classic summer activities - it was like the whole warm season smiling back at me from my canvas! I signed my name in the corner and decided to enter my painting into the town's summer art contest.
Whether I win a prize or not, I'm so proud of my summer painting. Every time I look at it, I can feel the warm sunshine, taste the salty air, and hear the crashing waves. It was a lot of work, but achieving something creative and beautiful makes all the effort worth it. I can't wait for next summer so I can create a new masterpiece! Maybe I'll paint a lemonade stand, or a campfire with ooey gooey s'mores...The possibilities are endless when you blend colors, armed with a brush and an imagination. Art class here I come!

Summer's Picture
Summer is my favorite season of the year! The warm sunshine, no school, and lots of fun activities make summer an
amazing time. If I had to paint a picture of summer, here's what it would look like.
In the background, I would paint a bright blue sky. Not a single cloud would be in the sky on this perfect summer day. The sun would be shining brightly, big and yellow and warm. Its rays would be stretching all across the picture, making everything seem bright and cheery.
Next I would paint some tall green trees. Their leaves would be full and leafy, providing nice cool shady spots to sit under. A few birds might be perched on the branches, singing their cheerful summer songs. Under the trees, the grass would be a lush, thick green carpet to sit on.
You can't have a proper summer picture without ice cream, so I'd definitely include an ice cream truck parked on the street. Maybe I'd paint a few kids running towards it, hot summer day with their money in hand. The ice cream truck would be decorated with bright colours and have a big sign telling all the tasty treats it's selling like bomb pops, ice cream sandwiches, and colourful popsicles.
What's summer without a baseball game or playing catch? I'd draw a baseball diamond in a corner of the picture, with two teams lined up ready to play. Or maybe just a few kids tossing a
ball back and forth in the park. The diamond would have fresh chalk lines and the players would be wearing their team uniforms and caps.
My summer picture would also have a grill sizzling away, sending up mouth-watering smells of burgers and hotdogs cooking over the charcoal flames. A picnic table loaded with all the fixin's like ketchup, mustard, relish, and a fresh salad would be set up beside the grill. Someone's dad would be flipping the sizzling patties with a big smile on their face.
You can't forget about the beach in a proper summer scene! I'd paint a beautiful sandy beach on one side, with gently rolling blue ocean waves lapping up on the shore. A few beach towels and umbrellas would be set up, with kids building sandcastles nearby. Further out, I'd add some swimmers and boogie boarders having fun in the sparkling waves. A few seagulls would be flying overhead, searching for any dropped snacks.
What else would I include in my summer picture? Maybe a lemonade stand run by some entrepreneurial kids. Or a field of sunflowers in full bloom under the summer sun. Perhaps a campfire glowing as the summer evening settles in, with friends roasting marshmallows for s'mores. A group of kids running
through a sprinkler to cool off would make the picture extra summery too. So many fun possibilities!
Summer is the best season because you can do so many fun outdoor activities you can't do the rest of the year. Playing outside with friends, having picnics and barbeques, swimming, going to the beach, baseball games, and just enjoying the warm sunny weather are all part of the magic of summer. My picture would truly capture the carefree joy and excitement of those amazing summer days. I can't wait for summer to arrive so I can make my summer picture dream a reality!

Summer's Canvas
The final school bell rings on a sunny June afternoon, and just like that, summer has arrived! No more teachers, no more books, no more waking up at the crack of dawn. For the next few glorious months, the days stretch out long and lazy, with no schedule to follow except the one I make myself.
As I skip out of the school gates, leaving homework and tests far behind, my mind is already painting the perfect summer canvas. The colors are bright and vibrant, the scenes bursting with possibility. In my mind's eye, I can picture it all so clearly.
First, there are the deep green treetops forming a sheltering canopy, the branches stretching out invitingly. I imagine climbing up into the cool shade, book in hand, to spend an afternoon lost in an adventure tale. The rough bark scrapes my legs a little as I hoist myself up, but I don't mind. Up here, the fresh breeze carries the sweet scent of ripening fruit, and I can hear the cheerful song of robins welcoming the warm season.
Speaking of fruit, my mental painting can't be complete without a lush orchard laden with ripe treasures just waiting to be plucked. Plump strawberries glazed with dewdrops, their red surfaces tight and shiny. Peaches with their delicate blush and velvet fuzz. And best of all, clusters of deep purple grapes, their taut skins about to burst with tangy sweetness. I can almost taste them on my tongue as I wander between the trees, filling my basket to the brim.
No summer scene is complete without water for cooling off, so my imaginary landscape includes a sparkling river winding through a grassy meadow. The current babbles over smooth rocks, and small fish flit beneath the glassy surface, occasionally breaking it with a silvery splash. I can hear kids' laughter echoing as they skip rocks or dangle their bare feet in the shallows, watching tadpoles wiggle through the reeds.
In another corner of my summer painting, a weathered wooden fence encloses a baseball diamond. The dusty infield arcssuncracked and ochre, while the green outfield smells richly of clover and freshly-mowed grass. I can picture a pickup game in progress, with players digging in at the plate and fielders chasing sizzling line drives, cheering each run scored and heckling players from both teams in jest.
As dusk falls in my imagined summer world, fireflies begin to blink their greeny-yellow lights in the velvet darkness, flickering across the twilight shadows. A crackling bonfire springs to life, surrounded by sun-browned faces and somewhere a guitar starts to strum. We'll roast plump marshmallows until their outsides are blackened and crisp, then make deliciously gooey s'mores, letting the chocolate blend into the sticky sweetness. The smoke will perfume our hair and clothes with its distinctive woodsy scent for days to come.
My summer painting has no need for alarm clocks or schedules. We'll wake when we wake, maybe to the chirping of birds or the warmth of the sun peeking through the curtains. We'll spend long, lazy days adrift in whatever pursuit strikes our fancy - rereading cherished books, running barefoot through sprinklers, burying our toes in the sandy lake beach. Every
summer holds the delicious promise of adventure, exploration, and gloriously unstructured freedom.
When I shut my eyes, I can practically see the masterpiece taking shape - a vivid, vibrant celebration of everything summer should be. Bright sunlight dappling the landscape, flowers in radiant bloom, the lush green paradise reveling in nature's yearly renewal. It's all there, painted in the richest hues across the endless canvas of my imagination.
So bring it on, summer! I've got my brushes ready to capture every warm breeze, each sweet taste of just-picked berries, the musical chatter of birds at dawn, and lazy late evenings surrounded by fireflies. This summer will be a masterpiece worthy of framing in the sunset-tinted hues of memories. And when autumn's chill winds begin to whisper, I'll look back on it all and smile, holding those images close until the colors blaze to life again next year.。
