About 45%of an adult’s time concerns listening to other people , listening to the radio, listening to the music. In linguistics ,giving the students a lot of listening activities is a good way of enlarging their vocabulary. On the other hand, it also helps the students improve their listening prehension.I have done an investigation. About % of the students think that the most bothering and most difficult is listening prehension, and even some of them have difficulty in understanding their teacher who gives lessons in English.Without question, it is difficult of a middle school student to understand the listening material, if he hasn’t enough vocabulary and the ability of telling the grammar construction. In my investigation, about 35% of the students with low listening prehension thing this is because they don’t understand or know the knowledge about linguistic, they are not able to tell the means of a what they have heard. In my another investigation, students were asked to listen to a dialogue of 244 words, in which the words and grammar have already been learned. But 80% of them thought it was too difficult. Then, using the same dialogue as a reading prehension material, I found only 5% of them thought it was a little difficult, on the other hand the response ability is also another reason. It is clear that the reading speed of a material also affects. About 43% of the students thought that the material was read too fast and they couldn’t fo llow.A lot of students have their own listening habits. This thesis is to review the present situation in NMET to study the present English written expression situation, teachers' motivation, students' motivation to touch and practise to improve the abilities .In conclusion, it is feasible to launch written expression in Senior School in NMET.Key words: Practicality, Improvement,written expression Ability论文摘要按照新大纲的要求,中学英语教学目标是让学生获得基础知识运用英语进行交际的能力。

Writing is one of the demands in the course of teaching. This thesis is to expand and try to explore some useful paths to guide the senior students to achieve in NMET.The Characters of The Wtrtten Expression in NMET2.1 What is written expression in NMET .During the period of the senior, the training of writing runs across the whole actions, from the spelling, copying first to the dictation, making sentence, filling, translation, condensing or rewriting, excerpt, writing letter and diary and so on all to train and improve the ability of written expression .Written expression in NMET is the typical test to check this area .Written expression, which is the main examination to review the knowledge of the language usage, is to check the examinee how to use what they learned to intercommunicate, to guide the senior English teaching to improve and bring up the skills of the language usage. It means that from beginning to the end the two sides always go with your writing, it is unprofitable if you have overlooked them.And also they are not consistent between the two sides, the focus is the proper sequence .I mean you had better enter step by step, beginning with simple language and language practice, then the level of the content and the language comes to write more better.It is true that it takes some time to turn the dream into realities if you write a consistent flowing exact english article .And that the interim must obey from simple to complex, from easy to difficult in proper sequence to train the students. According to this principle, you can arrange the following steps: 1, Making and rewriting sentences; 2, Froming sentences to paragraph ,from paragraphs to passage ; 3, Organizing sentences to passage based on the language points ; 4, Condensing and rewriting the texts ; 5, Copying the given model essays; 6,Guided writing ; 7, Proposition.Proceeding with the following steps :3.2 Cultivating the habits to start writing .Starting with sentence, train the simple sentences.You had better give the chance to use their pens if you want them to form the habits to like writing. Senior students have learned some useful words and expressions, basal grammars and sentence patten. In practice teacher will control the period to give the right chance to train students . Starting with the sentence, train the simple sentence. Sentence is the language unit to communicate with others. So making sentence is the first step in everyday teaching in order to bring up the ability to learn how to start writing .The steps are the following :1, Using the given words or phrases to make sentences ;2, Obeying the given grammar condition to make sentences ;3, Finishing the sentences based on the given Subject and predicate ;4, Linking the simple sentences to complex sentence ;5, Rewriting, condensing, extending the sentences .It is the simple change to rewrite sentences, for example, changing the Tenses or the V oices .She is gone to the post-office .She is not here .She went to the post-office and has not come back yet .Using Synonymy or Antonym to change sentence .My friend is coming from America .My friend is going to return from America .Changing the sentence structure to express the same meaning in another way .You see, life is made up of sobs, sniffles, and smiles .You see, life is full of hardships and happiness.In order to form the habits to make sentences when meeting the words and expressions, based on rewriting ,demand students to form sentences as possible as they can gradually .As you know, passage is made up of sentences. Sentence is divided into simple sentence and complex sentence, two or more simple sentences are formed into compounding sentence by conjunctions, so simple sentence is the key training .The basal structure of the simple sentence is Subject +Predicate (+Object ). Sometimes there are Adverbial Modifier. But most of students are able to correct them when I wrote them down on the blackboard .Why? One word, less practice. New York: St.Martin's Press)It is necessary to train students how to gather up the given materials by understanding the key language points, and it is a very important step to enrich their abilities .A,Sum up the main meaning of each paragraph. During the course of the English teaching, some may lay particular stress on grasp vocabulary and grammar, not to pay more attention to the summing and understanding paragraphs or passage wholly. So what they have learned are some fragmented points. It is natural that they are unable to view the whole text. To develop their summing abilities, teacher gives the model on how to divide passage and how to sum up main idea in English consciously after a unit from the beginning. After several times training, it is prerequisite to write down and check paragraph meaning and main idea when we come to next new unit .B, Condensing and rewriting texts.Besides reciting and answering questions to examine what they have learned according to the materials, limited words, reciting the original by changing person to train how to develop the summing abilities .3.4 Guiding students to write essay, thinking and organizing expressions in English.Students have grasped a certain interest and basic skills in written expression after series of practice and training of reciting, condensing and rewriting. This is the right time to add some becomingly items to enlighten their active thinking and develop their mentality. By setuping a certain condition or pointing out some words and expressions to encourage students to use what they have learned to practise writing passage by envisaging with a bold hand .And our mother tongue is Chinese, students are often thinking and organizing in this way.Obviously, the different thinking and organizing way lies between the two widely divergent languages. It is no use using indiscriminate styles. Here is an example :a, It is our study good season .b,It make man lead a happy life .c,The weather still warm .From above, students make such mistakes obviously by patching up in Chinese word by word .So it is feasible to follow sentence structures which they have learned to think and organize their thoughts and to grasp some English idioms and expressions firmly.3.5 Paying Attention to the methods and skills .Written expression in NMET is aimed at examining the examinee how to express the given materials and how to use what they have learned to intercommunicate in public. It is an important but difficult part in NMET.viewing freely this part in every NMET, you can see most of them areadopted by means of guided composition. the examinee must write down what they are thinking and organizing properly according to the given materials under limited words (around 100 words) and time in simple perspicuous right expressions. Types of literature are Practical writing ( Letter, Notice ,Message etc.), Narration (Writing according to the pictures ,Condensing etc.), Expository writing ( Introduction of person and spot etc.). And it is essential to hit the points ,to use the pure language to organize the materials, to be suitable, to be in proper sequence, to use punctuations correctly ,on the basis of familiar mistakes and the standard of the grade, we practise and sum up some useful skills .That is, one format, two heads, three writings, four passes. One format means you had better write the format correctly. Two heads means you had better write perfectly the beginning and en. Three writings are aimed to spelling, capitalization and small letter and handwriting. Four passes are pointed to idioms and expressions, grammar rulers, language points and styles of writing .1,Writing the format correctly. Try to remember the familiar practical writing format and the character of every types of literature. In NMET it is required to reach high level in practical writing , it is demanded to use the changeless format and the familiar sentence structures such as Letter, Diary, Introduction, Message, Salutatory etc. At the same time, different types of articles have different writing methods and characters, Expository writing has two obvious characters in style of writing at least, one is topic sentence, the other is Present Tense ;2, Paying attention to the beginning and end. You had better elaborate time and again in making sentences and rhetoric, ponder painstakingly when you begin to write down the beginning and end the passage to make without fail them concise and comprehensive well-set ." Well begun is half done." ending well may give the judge some kind of favor from beginning, and " All is well that ends well." It is viable to catch two heads to drive the middle in practice or NMET.Thus it can be seen, it is important to write them well. But how to write? in my opinion, you had better use the familiar sentence structures not complex sentences. And try to express the same key points in different ways neatly. It means you had better normalize capitalization, spelling and handwriting . Specially pay more attention to the article title's capitalization.Begin the first word and all other important words in the title with a capital letter. By spreading check points and arranging the score points proposition mainly checks the examinee how to express and write down their thoughts. But the points can not be seen directly in the given, such as writing according to the pictures, it is required you ponder, question, analyse ,include, organize and abstract carefully and thoroughly to make the points well and truly. Then based on translating the points into English, you had better try your best to choose the words fitly, use quotation correctly to make the passage flowing and coherent, rigorous in logic to improve shelves. From another point of view, some students only use several conjunction such as AND, BUT, SO and so on to link up. Actually, we can meet them around us .A,To express enumeration or order : firstly, secondly, last, then, finally, next, such as, for example,after that .etc.B,To express supplement or explication: also, besides, above all, except .etc .C, To express result: so, therefore, thus, as a result .etc.D,To express transition:instead, however,. etc.E,To express explanation:in other words, namely, that is . etc.F, To express sum up:then, in all, in a word .etc.If you are able to use these words and expressions rightly in practice and in NME, the sentences in your passage must be made firmly and orderly and all the language points must be written clearly and correctly And also there is no doubt that you must pay more attention to the others we have discussed first. The third is grammar, including Syntax and Accidence. Habitually in tne past , students make the following mistakes :A.Coherence .B.Singulars and Plurals.C.Tenses and V oices .D.Transitive and Intransitive verbs .E.Sequence of TensesF.Infinitive or Gerund .G.Articles and Proper Nouns .To solve these problems , in the every teaching step and examination, guide them consciously to hold and understand their meanings, relations and differences etc. By making sentences, reciting rulers, examining. In all, students have owned the results according to schedule. The fourth is idioms and expressions. Some students like thinking and organizing in Han, that is, Han English or Chinglish.Actually, Using materials in Han (Guo Changui ,P56-57,"The Writing of English: Learning to Write." Wu Han University Press 1983.) is a practical method to deal with those problems. I do not mean translate in the ordinary sense of the word; I mean writing a piece of English based on one of Han. To all appearances, there is no grammar mistakes, but the sentences which the students made may be in turns of Chinese to coin the passage. So try to avoid translating word by word. For example, you had better not translate" Do you have good eyesight ?" as " Is your eyesight good ?" and stickle Chinese expressions. So it is very important to express clearly. The standard of the judgement depends on two sides, one is the points and the other is the language. I mean you'd better not ignore the two keys ---points and language when you are ready to write down what you have thought .Including most of language points, nearly no grammar mistakes, expressing exactly and correctly are your keys to open the gate to success. based on what I have expressed above, I may use three sentences to sum up my opinions .1,Looking through the title carefully to aim the target, grasping the demands, this is the first step before writing down the passage. As you know, it is controlled writing, the examinee mustunderstand all demands according to the prompt to start their writing .2,Rummaging up all points, translating into English, organizing language to form the passage, this is the second step. Content points come first when it is judged. You must pay attention to two points when you have finished this step, namely try to avoid leaving the key points or to paint the lily in your passage. Try to use the familiar words and expressions and sentence structures to express what your thought when you are translating the points .3,By pondering the points to make and extend sentences, then join and organize the sentences to complete the passage. When you are doing this, you had better care the following: Try to use familial sentence patten to form simple sentence; Based on the content to meet Subject and predicate, specially the Tense in the whole passage; Pay attention to the relations among the sentences paragraphs, that is, they are organic and natural. In a word, in this step, try your best to express correctly clearly to show unity, coherence and emphasis. After finishing making sentences, it is necessary to use some conjunctions to repair the passage to check the logic order while organizing and forming the materials .4,Reading the passage to recheck and mend the article, it is indispensable step to write the passage perfectly. After writing down the written expression, the examinee must arrange some time to look through the whole passage from beginning to the end, the amount of the words, types of literature, the connect points, language expressions, the echoes, capitalization, all of them must be in your sight carefully. To sum up the analysis, it is feasible to launch written expression in teaching plan to improve the ability in NMET.
