Whenl was a boy we used to live across the road from a big hill with huge oak trees growing on it. Whenwinter arrived, thick, heavy snow would fall, and my two brothers would grab their
sleds and head for the hill for a day of fun. I remember watch ing them with envy because I was still too small to go sleddi ng. Fin ally, one win ter I was con sidered old eno ugh and joined my brothers as they carried their sleds to the hill and prepared to ride down it.
During the first few trips I rode with one of my brothers and had the time of my life.
It was so exhilarating whe n the wi nd whipped across my face as I flew dow n the hillside on the woode n sled. Near the end of the day, I was overjoyed whe n my brothers decided to let me try ridi ng the sled all by myself. I climbed on it full of exciteme nt and lay on my stomach.
Then with one big push my brothers sent me down to the snowy hillside. I was doing pretty well un til I hit an old stump hidde n in the snow and went off course, straight towards one of those big oak trees. My heart poun ded in my chest and I could hear myself scream ing. At the last possible second I rolled off and the sled crashed into the tree. I could hear my brothers running dow n the hill yelli ng, “ You have to steer!You have to steer! ”
Sadly, that wasn' t the last time I failed to steer when some obstacle knocked meoff course in my life. Many times problems, troubles and my own failures have sent me crashing into the trees of an ger, frustrati on, and despair.
I am still lear ning that life isn ' t always safe sledding. I amstill learning that it is up to me to steer myself back to love, back to kindness,
back to good ness, and back to God.
Life is a trip, but no one ever said it was a smooth ride. Steer well then. Steer straight. Steer your soul towards the light and the love we are all meant for.

inven ted the printing press and therefore prepari ng the way for printing books.
He was born into a wealthy family in the city of Mainz, Germa ny. In 1428, he moved to Strasbourg and lived there for almost 20 years. 2
Gute nberg used his skills in metalwork for the mass product ion of books. 3 That means that each copy of the Catholic Bible and all of its 73 books were painstakingly handwritten by penmen. Gute nberg fashi oned a font of over 300 characters, far larger tha n the fonts of today. To make this possible, he inven ted the variable-width mold(模具)and perfected the mixture of materials used by prin ters.
4 Between 1450 and 1455, while preparing to publish a large Latin Bible, Gutenberg is thought to have prin ted a nu mber of smaller books, a cale ndar and so on.
