题卡上将该项涂黑。

A
Our eating habits are very important for good health and a strong body. There are times when most of us would have sweets and ice-cream rather than eat meat and rice. Sweets and ice-cream are not bad for the stomach if we eat at the end of a meal. If we drink beer at meals, it may take away our appetite(胃口). It is important for us to eat our meal at the same time each day. When we feel hungry, it is a sign that our body needs food. When we feel angry or excited, we may not want to eat. A long time ago, in England, some judges used to decide whether a man was telling the truth by giving him some dry bread. If the man could not swallow the bread, it was a sign that he was not telling the truth. Although this seems very strange and rather foolish, it is indeed an excellent way of finding out the truth. A man who is worrying about something has difficulty in swallowing anything dry. Because he is worried, he loses his appetite and does not want to eat.
56. Why do we have to form good eating habits?
A. Because we want to eat more.
B. Because we want to keep fit.
C. Because we enjoy our meal.
D. Because we want to save time.
57. The underlined word “swallow” means______.
A. break with the teeth before taking in
B. eat with difficulty
C. take into the stomach through the throat
D. drink like a fish
58. When does the writer think it would be better to have our meal?
A. At the fixed time every day.
B. When our work is over.
C. When we feel happy.
D. When every family member is home.
59. What could a man do if he told a lie according to some judges in old England?
A. He could eat a lot of food.
B. He could hardly need any food.
C. He could not swallow any dry bread.
D. He could swallow some dry bread easily.
B
After a day of work and play, the body needs to rest. Sleep is necessary for good health. During this time, the body recovers from the activities of the previous day. The rest that you get while sleeping enables your body to prepare itself for the next day.
There are four levels of sleep, each being a little deeper than the one before. As you sleep, your muscles relax little by little. Your heart beats more slowly, and your brain slows down. After you reach the fourth level, your body shifts back and forth from one level of sleep to another.
Although your mind slows down, from time to time you will dream. Scientists who study sleep state that when dreaming occurs your eyeballs begin to move quickly (although your eyelids are closed). This stage of sleep is called REM, which stands for rapid eye movement.
If you have trouble falling asleep, some people recommend——breathing very slowly and very deeply. Other people believe that drinking warm milk will help make you drowsy. There is also an old suggestion that counting sheep will put you to sleep.
60. A good title for this passage is _______.
A. Dreams
B. Good Health
C. Sleep
D. Work and Rest
61. The underlined word “drowsy” in the last paragraph means_______.
A. sick
B. a little sleepy
C. excited
D. noisy

D. both A and B
64. The average(平均) number of hours of sleep that an adult needs is_________.

Harry, 13, wrote to us to say that even though he’s older, he finds himself jealous(妒忌) of his brother Jonathan because he’s a better skateboarder. Harry hates that he and Jonathan argue constantly(不断地)about stupid things, like who gets to hold the TV remote or use the computer.
Maybe Emily’s situation will sound familiar(熟悉)to yo u. Her older sister, who’s almost 14, gets a lot of clothes, while Emily, 10, only gets one set a year! She feels that her sister gets anything she wants because she’s “almost a woman.” Guess what … they fight all the time, too.
Every situation is differen t, but these kinds of problems are generally called “sibling rivalry(同胞之争). ” When we’re feeling jealous of a sibling, we’re angry at him or her for doing or having something that we don’t, and we’re upset(沮丧)with ourselves for not being able to do or have that thing. The easiest way to express our anger is to fight with that sibling … and it usually makes things worse.
There is one really helpful way to beat the jealousy monster. Instead of focusing on what you don’t have or who you aren’t, focus on what y ou do have or who you are.
Everybody has different goals, interests, skills and talents. You may be jealous that your sister is a star of swimming … but maybe you’re a great drummer. Instead of wishing you were good at sports, you can start a cool band(乐队)with your friends!
Life is not a head-to-head competition, and nobody’s keeping score. If it seems like your siblings are keeping score, don’t let it continue; let them know how you feel. You might also consider talking to an adult about how you can feel better about yourself. Maybe it means finding a great new hobby, or trying a different sport.
Most importantly, remember that keeping feelings of jealousy to yourself is not going to make them go away. Talk about these emotions as soon as you feel them, so they don’t get stuck inside you.
65. The examples mentioned in the first two paragraphs prove that .
A. sibling rivalry is a kind of fierce competition
B. every family has its own problems

D. it is common for siblings to quarrel or fight
66. You will feel jealous of a sibling when .

A. how to deal with sibling rivalry
B. how to play favorites(偏爱)in your family
C. what problems sibling rivalry causes
D. what causes sibling rivalry
D
Jumping on your bike, even in the city, is becoming increasingly popular--- in London, for example, cycle use has more than doubled in the past ten years. So, which is the best bike for you?
If you’re traveling to work, a folding bike such as one of th e models here is suitable unless you’re cycling more than a couple of miles, in which case it might be uncomfortable (不舒适的). You can take a fold-up on the train and as it goes indoors with you, it’s secure (安全的).
For longer journeys, a road bike with drop handlebars and narrow tyres(轮胎)is a good choice. Try Specialized, from £400. Note that the riding position encourages you to look downwards, which can be dangerous.
Mountain bikes are best suited to off-road travel; their fat and strong tyres are good for climbing steep, muddy slopes(斜坡). Good brands include Trek and Giant, with prices starting at less than £300.
A hybrid bike (halfway between a mountain bike and a road bike) is a good compromise (折中)with more upright riding position and thin, fast tyres. Ridgeback makes great hybrids, from around £350.
For a classic sit-up-and-beg bike, it’s still hard to beat Pashley, which makes its bikes by hand. Expect to pay around £500.
Once you’ve picked your bike, sizing is crucial or you may suffer back or neck pain. A famous bike shop will help you choose the right size frame. The height of the seat should be adjusted carefully---again, a good shop will advise. If you only plan to cycle once or twice a month, you can choose a lower-priced bike, but for regular use, paying more means better quality: cheaper bikes need more frequent adjustment of brakes and gears (刹车和齿轮) ---and tend to be heavier, too. Finally, items such as mudguards(挡泥板) aren’t always included.
68. The main purpose of this passage is to .
A. give advice on how to choose a bike
B. advertise some famous bike brands
C. encourage people to go to work by bike
D. introduce the advantages of different bikes
69. According to the passage, which kind of bike is least likely to be stolen?
A. A road bike.
B. A mountain bike.
C. A folding bike.
D. A hybrid bike.
70. Which company’s bikes are handmade?
A. Giant’s.
B. Pashley’s.
C. Ridgeback’s
D. Specialized’s.
71. From the last paragraph, we can know that .
A. a cheap bike may not have mudguards
B. a cheap bike is fit for regular use
C. an expensive bike may be heavier than a cheap one
D. you may suffer back or neck pain riding a cheap bike
E
For thousands of years, the most important two buildings in any British village have been the church and the pub. Traditionally, the church and the pub are at the heart of any village or town, where the people gather together to socialize and exchange(交换)news.
As a result, British pubs are often old and well preserved(维护). Many of them have become historic sites. The most famous example is the pub in the city of Nottingham called “The Old Trip to Jerusalem”, which dates back to the year 1189 AD and is probably the oldest pub in England.
However, British pubs are not just for kings and queens; they welcome people from all classes and parts of society. On a cold night, the pub’s landlord or landlady can always find a warm place for you by the fire. There is always honest and hearty food and plenty of drink available at an affordable price.
That’s how things used to be. Things are beginning to change. It is said that the credit crunch(信贷紧缩) is causing 39 British pubs a week to go out of business. People do not have enough spare money to spend on beer. Recently, the UK government banned(禁止)smoking in all pubs, and that may also have affected the number of customers going to pubs.
This decline is happening despite the fact that in the UK government started to allow pubs to stay open after 1l pm. Previously, with 1l pm as closing time, customers would have to drink quite quickly, meaning they sometimes got more drunk than they would if allowed to drink slowly. The British habit of drinking a lot very quickly is known as “binge drinking”, and it causes long-term health problems for people and problems with violent crime for communities.
In order to save their businesses, pubs are trying to change with the market. British pubs now offer something for everyone. A lot of pubs used to be “Working Men's Clubs”, meaning that women could not usually enter. Today, however, women can freely enter 99% of pubs without experiencing any problems. Perhaps things are changing for the better after all.
72. The passage mainly tells us something about ______.
A. the decline of British pubs
B. the past and present of British pubs
C. the long history of British pubs
D. the importance of British pubs
73. Which may not be the cause of the decline of British pubs?
A. The present closing time.
B. The credit crunch.
C. The ban of smoking.
D. Having no spare money.
74. We can infer from the passage that ______.
A. British people used to like drinking slowly
B. British government aims to discourage people from binge drinking
C. closing the pubs early will reduce social problems
D. binge drinking means drinking less beer
75. We can see from the last paragraph that the author _______.
A. is against the admission of too many women to the pubs
B. thinks that women in the pubs will cause less social problems
C. holds an optimistic(乐观的)attitude towards the British pubs
D. thinks that British pubs should offer everything you need

Ladies and gentlemen, good morning!
What we are going to talk about today is really meaningful, since some people have raised doubt about learning from Comrade Lei Feng. Should we still need to learn from him? The answer is surely yes.
Our society calls for the spirit of Lei Feng. “To live is to serve the people” perfectly explains the real meaning of the long-lasting spirit. Nowadays, with volunteering spirit spreading throughout the world, we students can make use of our spare time to do some voluntary work for those in need and show great concern to people around us. All we need to do is to help others whole-heartedly.
We teenagers need to be people who promote the long-lasting spirit. So it is high time that we developed sense of social responsibility and studied hard so that we can live up to our country’s expectations. I’m sure everybody can make a difference. Only in this way can we build a more harmonious society. The world needs love and care. Let’s do as Lei Feng did.
Thank you for listening!。
