One Sunday, I visited the city zoo with my family. My parents bought four tickets and we entered the zoo. My sister Mary and I were surprised to see many birds and animals.
Many kinds of birds were singing in the tall tree. Some of them were in different colors, just like wearing beautiful dresses. Mary and I were so happy to see a panda lying and eating on a big stone. Many friendly animals were excited to see people. A bear was standing on his back legs. An elephant was taking food from people with his long nose. The monkeys were playing by jumping from one tree to the other. Some were making faces at the on-lookers. We threw some bananas at them. It was great fun to see how they caught them at once. A baby monkey was sitting in a basket. We shook hands and gave him a bottle of milk.
Suddenly we heard a long and loud cry. It came from a white tiger in a cage. “The tigers and lions are shut in cages(笼子), Jenny! They look very scary!” Mary said to me. “They seem sad as well as angry at having lost their freedom.” I answered. I saw an old lion standing silently in his cage and watching the mountains far away, without eating the fresh meat before him. We left there quietly. On the way home. none of us said a word.
In the evening, I lay in bed. I looked at the moon outside the window and slowly fell

People have been trying to find out whether homework is good or bad for school children and they have different opinions.
Most teachers think that homework is an important part of learning for students. They believe it not only enables children to practice what they have learned in class, but also helps improve their handwriting. They also say that homework is able to teach children how to work on the own and work independently. Children will learn how to use resources (资源) such as texts, libraries and the internet. They think it’s a skill which is important to them in future life. And the think homework is a good opportunity (机会) to connect parents, classmates, and family member with children’s education. The better the children’s parents support network, the more likely they are to succeed in class.
Some parents disagree, though. They think homework puts too much stress on children. They think children need a break from a subject, so they don’t burn out or lose interest. The time spent on homework could have been used to do other activities like reading and playing sports. To back up their opinion, they give the example of Finland(芬兰). In Finland, student have little homework. But the country remains one of the most educationally successful
countries in the world.
In my opinion, whether the homework is good or bad depends on the purpose of it. If there is no clear reason for giving homework, the students will not get anything from doing it, so it should not be set. However, I still believe that homework can really help with children’s learning, if teachers clearly tell them why they should do the homework and let them know how they will do their homework. Students will get more from homework.

Last week, two companies (公司), Kitty Hawk and Uber, told the public their plans to bring flying cars to reality very soon.
There is a good side and a bad side to everything. When flying cars come into use, you will never have to worry about traffic, stoplights, or road condition. A flying car could get somewhere much faster than one traveling by road. On the other hand, you will have to worry about other things. For example, if you can avoid birds and other flying cars in the sky, if your battery(电池) will die when you are in the air, and if you can find the right place to land.
Kitty Hawk
Kitty Hawk told the public its flying car plans last Monday. And it wants people to be able to buy its flying car by the end of 2017.
According to the Kitty Hawk website, the car will be able to travel at speeds up to 40 kilometers an hour.
When flying cars come into use, people must worry about if the price will be too high. Kitty Hawk is making a list of people interested in buying the flying car. Those who get their names on the list early will receive $2000 off the final cost of the car. However, Kitty Hawk has not yet told the price. Kitty Hawk expects its first flying cars will go on sale by the end of this year.
Uber Flying Taxis
Last week, Uber told the public its plans for flying taxis to begin carrying people. Unlike the Kitty Hawk company, Uber does not plan to build its flying cars. Instead, it will ask its partner companies to do it. Like the Kitty Hawk car, Uber flying taxis will use electric power(电力).
Uber says its flying taxis could travel up to 241 kilometers an hour. The company said that could shorten the travel time between San Francisco and San Jose from 2 hours on the road to 15 minutes in the air.
Flying taxis will come to our life in the near future. Riders will be able to use the Uber app to book a flying taxi to take them to any place where they want to go.
