工作场所工作人员的不负责任的行为英语作文
The Big Problem with Grown-Ups at Work
You know how grown-ups are always telling kids to behave and follow the rules? Well, I've noticed that a lot of grown-ups don't follow the rules themselves when they go to work! It's really frustrating and can cause a lot of problems.
One of the biggest issues is when employees show up late to work. My dad is the manager at his office, and he's told me stories about people strolling in 30 minutes or even an hour after they were supposed to start. Can you imagine if I did that at school? My teacher would call home and I'd be in huge trouble. But some of the grown-ups at my dad's workplace don't seem to care. They act like the start time doesn't matter.
My mom says this is called being "irresponsible" - when you don't take your responsibilities seriously. Showing up on time is one of the basic responsibilities you have when you get a job. If you can't even do that, how can your boss and coworkers count on you for other things?
Another major problem is when employees slack off instead of working. I've visited my parents' offices before, and I've seen some of the grown-ups spending more time gossiping around
the watercooler or playing games on their phones than actually doing their jobs. Again, if I acted like that in class and ignored my schoolwork, I'd be punished.
It seems like a lot of these grown-ups have a bad case of what my grandpa calls "goofing off." They take long lunches, leave early, or spend tons of time chatting rather than focusing. My dad's friend who manages a construction crew said some of his workers loaf around so much that they get half as much done as they're supposed to. That's got to be so frustrating for the people trying to work hard.
Perhaps the most irresponsible thing I've seen is when employees make a big mistake and then try to cover it up or blame someone else instead of owning up to it. A few years ago, my uncle's assistant accidentally sent an important client the wrong documents. Instead of admitting the mistake, she lied and said the printing machine messed it up. My uncle had to do a ton of work fixing things after she passed the buck like that.
Whenever I do something wrong at school, my parents and teachers always tell me that the responsible thing is to admit it, apologize, and learn from it. Trying to get out of it by making excuses or fibs just makes it worse. You'd think grown-ups at work would know better, but apparently not!
There are other examples too, like employees fudging their timesheets, ignoring instructions from their managers, stealing things from the office, and leaving messes around instead of cleaning up after themselves. It's pretty silly to think about teachers and parents working so hard to teach kids how to be responsible, and then seeing all those lessons ignored by the grown-ups at their jobs!
I suppose some employees do take their responsibilities seriously and work hard. My dad and mom seem pretty committed to their jobs from what I've seen. But there are clearly a bunch of other people who need remedial training on stuff like respecting rules, being punctual, working diligently, owning up to mistakes, and basic professional behavior. You'd hope people wouldn't need to be told those things after finishing school, but I guess there are still a lot of big kids out there!
The good news is, my parents have told me that most companies recognize how problematic irresponsible employees can be. Things like excessive lateness, poor work quality, and misconduct can get people fired if they don't shape up. The bosses have to get tough about it because one bad apple can hurt the whole team and company.
Workplaces seem to run a lot better when the employees act responsibly and stay focused on their jobs. People show up rarin' to go, put in an honest day's work, take ownership when things go wrong, and follow the rules and policies. With that kind of behavior, companies can make good products, keep customers happy, and succeed over time.
So if you're getting ready to join the working world after finishing school, let me give you some advice: Don't be one of those grown-ups who acts irresponsibly on the job! Show up early, work hard, admit mistakes, and follow the workplace rules. That way you'll be a productive employee that bosses and coworkers can count on. Who knows, you might even set a good example for those big kids who haven't learned how to be responsible yet!。
