“could” to say that we were able to do something in the past .
6.ask students to work out the rule on their own .then they check with a partner and confirm that their answer is correct with the whole class .
7.ask students to check the information table in part1about the beijing sunshine secondary school students’ abilities .reinforce the use of “ could/ could not” for the past and “can/can not” for the present .then they complete the sentences on their own .
