40 after he died. He warns Scrooge to change his ways if he doesn’t want to end up like He also tells Scrooge to expect 41 ghosts to visit him.
That 42 , the ghosts visit Scrooge. First, the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to
his childhood and reminds him 43 his happy days as a child. Then the second ghost, the
Ghost of Christmas Present, takes him to see 44 others are spending Christmas this year. Everyone is happy, even poor people. The last one, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, takes him
to the 45 . Scrooge sees that he is dead, but nobody cares. He is so 46 that he
wakes up in his bed and finds out it is only the next morning — Christmas Day!
Scrooge decides to change his life and 47 to be a kind person. He 48 celebrates Christmas with his relatives. He also gives gifts to people in need. He now treats 49 with
kindness and warmth, spreading love and joy everywhere he goes. And that is the true 50 of Christmas!

and a lot of tiny people were around him)
The Emperor(国王) spoke in a high voice but I couldn’t hear all the words clearly. His Majesty and I often spoke to each other but neither of us understood a single word. I tried words from many languages—Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and Latin. No one could understand my words.
After about two hours the Emperor left. His wife, children and their servants went also. There
were strong guards around me. This was to stop the crowd of people from hurting me.

The poor man screamed terribly. The guards were worried when they saw my knife in my hand.
Was I going to cut up the man? But I only cut the binding(捆绑物) round his hands. Then I put him
on his feet and let him go. I lifted the other five men out of my pocket and put them gently on the ground too.

that soon all the people would be very hungry. The farmers could not grow enough food to feed all

(共5小题,每题2分,计10分)
Is it difficult for you to remember things? I’d like to tell you some ways to improve your memory, so you shouldn’t feel upset.
My first advice is that if you want to remember something well, you have to review it regularly(有规律地). You might review the material two days after you learn it, then a week later, then two weeks later, and then a month later. After a month you will find that you can easily remember the material.
My second advice is to use a colored pen to highlight (标注)the important parts on your book. This will help you in two days. First, it will help you pay attention to the most important parts when you learn the language. It is always easier to remember only the key points. Second, this will make reviewing easier. When you open your book, the colored parts will show you the most important things quickly. In this way, you don’t have to review all the material again.
Another piece of advice is to use the proper time well. First, review all the information in your mind right before you go to sleep. Your brain is working while you are sleeping. If you think about
the information before you go to sleep, you might be able to remember it better. Another good time for memorizing information is in the morning because you have just rested and your brain is fresh and clear. So you might also try to review the important information in the morning.

Different ways to get relaxed
Grade 9 students are facing much stress in their daily lives and they are trying different ways to
relax themselves.
Some students think that travelling is a good way to relax themselves. During their trips, they get to
know more friends and enjoy the beauty of nature at the same time. Moreover, travelling can help
us know more about the world.
Some o ther students think it’s better to read books to get relaxed. Reading books can help them open their eyes and increase their knowledge. They can know things around the world without
going out. As the saying goes, “ Reading makes a full man.”
For me, the best way to relax myself is to listen to music. Music can make me happy and
relaxed. What’s more, I can listen to it whenever and wherever I want.。
