In his 402nd anniversary year, Shakespeare is still rightly celebrated as a great language master and writer. But he was not the only great master of play writing to die in 1616, and he is certainly not the only writer to have left a lasting influence on theater.
While less known worldwide, Tang Xianzu is considered one of Chinas greatest playwrights and is highly spoken of in that country of ancient literary and dramatic traditions.
Tang was born in 1550 inLinchuan,Jiangxiprovince. Unlike Shakespeare's large body of plays, poems and sonnets (十四行诗), Tang wrote only four major plays: The Purple Hairpin, Peony Pavilion (《牡丹亭》), A Dream under the Southern bough, and Dream of Handan. The latter three were constructed around a dream narrative, a way through which Tang unlocked the emotional dimension of human desires and ambitions and explored human nature beyond the social and political limits of that time.
Similar to Shakespeare, Tang's success rode the wave of a renaissance (复兴) in theater as an artistic practice. As in Shakespeare'sEngland, Tang's works became hugely popular inChinatoo. During Tang'sChina, his plays were enjoyed performed, and changed. Kunqu Opera, a form of musical drama, spread from southernChinato the whole nation and became a symbol of Chinese culture. Combining northern tune and southern music, kunqu Opera was known for its poetic language, music, dance movements and gestures. Tang's works benefited greatly from the popularity of kunqu Opera, and his plays are considered classics of kunqu Opera.
While Tang and Shakespeare lived in a world away from each other, there are many things they share in common, such e humanity of their drama, their heroic figures, their love for poetic language, a lasting popularity and the anniversary during which we still celebrate them.

There are 8.8 million blind people in India. In fact, there are 36 million blind people worldwide and a quarter of them are in India; however, many cases of blindness in India are curable. The poor in India have limited access to primary eye healthcare and often do not eat foods rich in micronutrients, like vitamins and minerals, which play an important role in maintaining good eye health.
Many people worldwide are not even aware that they may have a vision (视力) problem simply because they do not get their eyes tested every year with a doctor, who tests for the functioning of the eye muscles (肌肉), as well as common diseases like night blindness. This exam is strongly recommended by experts because some changes in vision, which the patient may take longer to notice, can be found easily in this way.
Certain simple changes in diet and lifestyle can ensure better eye health for you. These include drinking plenty-of water, not smoking, and eating brightly color1 ed and leafy fruit and vegetables. Wearing sunglasses protects your eyes from the sun, which damages otherwise healthy eyes. Learn about your family's eye disease history, and be on the lookout for any problem about your vision. Make sure that you see a doctor immediately for early intervention(干预) if you see any of these signs of worsening eye health.
If you or a loved one needs to cure blindness or other eye diseases, turn to a crowdfunding (众筹) platform. A group of eye health caregivers have fundraised with crowdfunding platform ImpactGuru to raise money to perform operations on the eyes of blind women in south Asia. Running an online fundraiser enables both doctors and patients to find a way out of the dark. If you want eye care to develop, start a fundraiser today.
4. Why are there so many blind people in India?
A. There is a lack of eye hospitals in India.
B. People pay no attention to their eyes at all.
C. Poor Indians lack food good for eye health.
D. The environment damages their eyes.
5. What does the author suggest in Paragraph 2?
A. Examining your eyes annually.
B. Strengthening muscles every day.

C. The role of crowdfunding in eye care.
D. What should bedone to raise money.

A team of engineers atHarvardUniversity in trying to create the first robotic fly. Designed to do what a fly does naturally, the tiny is the size of a fat housefly. Its mini wings allow it to stay in the air and perform controlled flight tasks.
"The added difficulty with a project like this is that actually none of its components is off the shelf and so we have to develop them all on our own’ said Robert Wood, a Harvard engineering professor.
They engineered a series of systems to start and drive the robotic fly. “The seemingly simple system which just moves the wings hasa number of interdependencies (相互依赖)on the individual components, each of which individually has to perform well, but then has to be matched well to everything it d connected to,” said Wood.
While this first robotic flyer is linked to a small, off-board power source, the goal is eventually to equip it with a built-in power source, so that it might someday perform data-gathering work at rescue sites,in farmers’ fields or on the battlefield. "Basically it should be able to take off, land and fly around,” he said.
Wood says the design offers a new way to study flight mechanics and control at insect-scale. Yet, the power, sensing and computation technologies on board could have much broader applications.“You can start thinking about using them to answer open scientific questions, you know, to study biology in ways that would be difficult with the animal, but using these robots instead” he said. "So there are a lot of technologies and open interesting
scientific questions that are really what drives us on a day-to-day basis.”
12. What is the typical characteristic of the robotic fly?
A. It's automatic.
B.It's very small.
C. It's controllable.
D. It's quite powerful.
13. We can infer from the passage that the robotic flyer can____ .
A. act as a spy plane
B. help do farm work
C.fly at a very high speed
D. answer many scientific questions
14. What is Wood's idea about the robotic fly according to the last paragraph?
A. It is highly questionable.
B. It has wide practical applications.
C. It gives scientists interest in flying machines.
D. It points to a new direction in studying biology.
15. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. Harvand's Study in the Field of Insects.
B. A Breakthrough in Engineering Science
C. An Interesting Invention一Robotic Fly
D. Robotic Fly一a Copy of Real Life Insect

“Mum, can you play a game with me now?” said Amy, "Dad, do you want to play battleships?” asked Ben.
Suddenly, the lights went off. The apartment went completely dark. "Oh no! We have lost all our electricity," cried Mr. Miller. "There must be a power cut in the city, " said Mrs. Miller.
"Is everybody okay?” asked Mr. Miller. "Yes, I'm okay," said Amy. "Wow!
It's so dark in here," said Ben. "I've never seen our house like this before."
Mr. Miller picked up his torch (手电筒) and turned it on. But there was only a small beam of light.
"Oh no!” complained Mr. Miller. "The batteries in this torch are not very good. I don't know how long this torchlight will last. " The Miller family looked out of their apartment window. Mrs. Miller pointed at the sky. "Look at all the stars. " “Wow! I can see so many," said Ben.
Then Mrs. Miller wiped her forehead. "I'm feeling very hot," she said. "So am I," said Amy. "Who turned the heater on?”Mr. Miller frowned. “The heater is not on. The machine that keeps us cool has stopped working," Mrs Miller answered. Oh no! The fridge is not working either and all the food will be ruined," she cried. And what about the freezer?” asked Ben. "The ice cream cake for Grandma is in there. It's a special treat for her.”
“That's a big problem, said Amy. "The ice cream cake will melt if it gets warm.”
Just then, the torch went out. "And now we have an even bigger problem," said Mr. Miller. "Oh dear! What do we do now?” Mrs. Miller asked. Amy saw her tablet glowing (发出暗淡的光) in the corner of the room. "I have an idea," she said.
