Ⅰ. Target language

It landed in some trees.
I’ve been launching rockets for two years.
This year, I joined a rocket club.
Then I either lose or break them.

Enable students to talk about Paul’s Hobby.

Help the students learn talk and write about one’s hobb y.
Ⅳ. Teaching important & difficult points
Help the students learn how to write a short story using their imagination.

A tape-recorder, slide, a multiple-media computer and a projector.

Step I Homework checking and lead in
Show students the following pictures of rockets to help them tell their homework.
Step II Think About It!
Get students to answer questions in THINK ABOUT IT:
Have you ever built a model? What was it?
Have you ever joined a club?
Step III Listening
Ask the student to listen to the tape and answer the T or F questions on the slide.
1. Paul likes his hobby because it’s exciting and difficult.
2. Most of the members in the rocket club are young.
3. Paul has a collection of the rockets in his bedroom.
Step IV Reading
Ask the students to read the text silently and then fill in the blank according to the text.
Step V Writing (Let’s Do It)
Ask student to write a story called Paul’s Lost Rocket. Encourage the students to use thei r imagination.
Ⅶ. Homework
1. Review what we learned in Lesson 40 and preview Lesson 41.
2. Prepare to show and tell your hobby to the class.。
