1. T eaching title:Unit1 Cultural relics Part one From warming up to comprehending
2. T eaching aim: Let the students know about what are cultural relics and they can learn the history of Amber room.
3. T eaching focus: Give the students a brief definition of cultural relics and let the student learn how to find out each paragraph’s main idea.
4. T eaching difficulties: Give a better understanding of the important phrases and key sentences to the students.
5. T eaching aims: to cultivate the students’interest of English and develop their learning skills of reading, scanning.
6. T eaching time: 45 minutes
7. T eaching procedures
Step one Lead in
A.Greeting
B.Warming up
a. Show the pictures of Great wall, T emple of heaven, Forbidden City, the T erracotta Warriors and ask the students to name them.
Show the last picture to them and ask some students to predict what they are going to learn this lesson.
b. Let the students to discuss with each other and the teacher ask the
students about the same aspect in each other, then tell them what they will learn this lesson.
c. Ask the question what is cultural relics? And choose several students to answer the question.
d. Group gam
e. The teacher asks each group to speak out what cultural relics they know, the more the group name it, the winner will be that group
Step two Presentation
a.Give the definition of cultural relics. Cultural relics is something
that can represent cultures, which has survived for a long time to tell the history, and it is very rare and valuable, cultural relics can be craftworks, buildings, music and so on.
b.Show the picture to the students and ask the students the question
as follow:Have you ever seen a piece of amber ? What do you know about it?
c.Let the students to discuss with their desk classmates and choose
some student to answer the questions.
Step three Fast reading
a.Give the students five questions as follow:
How did the Amber Room become one of the wonders of the world? How was a New Amber Room build?
How did the Amber Room get lost?
How was the Amber Room make?
Why did the King of Prussia give the Amber Room to the Czar of Russia as a gift?
b.Give 10 minutes to the students to read the passage and do the
Comprehending 2 put the paragraph numbers in the boxes.
c.Ask several students to tell their answers, and then check the
answers together.
d.Let the students discuss with their group and conclude and ask
some students to answer the questions one by one.
Step four Consolidation
a.After finish the comprehending, ask the students to read the text
again, and fill the chart according to the time and the owner of the Amber Room.
b.Ask some student to finish the chart and share their opinions
about how to find out the main idea in each paragraph.
c.The teacher show chart to the students and ask them to finish the
comprehending 1 join the correct parts of the sentences together in page 2.
d.Group work: two students as a group, ask them to read the
passage 1 and passage 3 , to conclude the reasons why the Amber Room become one of the wonders of the world.
e.Ask some students talk about it.
Step five Summarize
a.The teacher points out the key words and the phrases, and asks
the students to do some practice on the PPT.
b.Give some main sentences to the students and ask them to try to
retell the story of Amber Room.
Step six: Homework
Write a short passage about is it worth rebuilding lost cultural relics such as the Amber Room or Y uanmingyuan in Beijing? Give your reasons.。
