The Big Troubles of Being a University Student
Hello friends! Today I want to tell you about the very big troubles that university students have when they take their English classes. My big brother Jimmy is a university student, and he has told me all about the mega pressures he faces. It's really hard being a grown-up university student!
The first huge problem is all the big readings they have to do. Jimmy says he has to read like a million pages every week from massive textbooks and boring academic articles. Can you imagine having to read that much? I can barely make it through one chapter book before I get tired of reading. The readings are also super difficult, with crazy big vocabulary words that I've never even heard of before. Jimmy showed me one of his readings and I couldn't understand most of it!
On top of the readings, university students also have to write the longest essays and papers you've ever seen. Jimmy has to write what feels like novel-length papers constantly. And they can't just write about fun things either - they have to write about really complicated topics using that insanely difficult vocabulary from the readings. Jimmy lets me read his essay assignments
sometimes, and they seem impossible to me. How could anyone write 20 pages analyzing the symbolism in some ancient poem? No thank you!
But the biggest trouble of all has to be the in-class times for English courses. Jimmy says he has to go to lectures for three hours at a time, three times per week! That's nine entire hours of just sitting and listening to professors lecture. I can't even pay attention to my teacher for an hour without getting antsy and bored. University students like Jimmy are expected to take perfect notes on everything the professor says too. The classes also have lots of confusing discussions where everyone has to talk about the super hard readings and concepts. I wouldn't be able to keep up at all.
If all of that wasn't enough, university students also have to take terrible exams that can determine their entire future. Jimmy tells me he has had final exams that were 4 or 5 hours long, all about analyzing literature and writing essays under pressure. Just thinking about something that stressful makes my head hurt! Jimmy says the exams require total mastery of all the concepts from the whole semester. One tiny mistake and your grade can go way down. No wonder university students are constantly stressed!
On top of all the hard work for just one English class, most university students have to take many other difficult classes at the same time. That means juggling epic amounts of reading, writing, classes, and exams across multiple subjects. How they find the time and energy to do it all is beyond me. I'm exhausted just going to my elementary school classes!
I definitely have a new appreciation for how challenging it must be to be a university student after hearing about Jimmy's experiences. Between the overwhelming readings, gargantuan writing assignments, endless lectures and discussions, horrifying exams, and having to balance it all across several classes, it's genuinely impressive that anyone can make it through. I'll be counting my blessings that I don't have aworldwide struggles yet as a kid!
If you're a university student reading this, I admire your persistence and wish you the best of luck. Hopefully this has helped give a kid's perspective on the truly immense pressures you face in your English courses and university life in general. Just think though - pushing through all of these academic challenges now will prepare you for any future tests that come your way as a working grown-up oneday. The big troubles won't last forever!。
