The Green Wanderer: My Friend, the Pothos
School is fun and all, but my favorite part is definitely the little garden area we have in the courtyard. That's where my best friend lives – a lively, green pothos plant that seems to be growing bigger and bigger every day!
The pothos has the most gorgeous leaves that are thick, waxy, and a brilliant shade of emerald green. Some of its leaves are solid green while others have streaks of yellow or white running through them. The leaves can grow up to a foot long, with the plant trailing several feet down from its hanging basket. With its vines draping elegantly over the sides, it looks like a green waterfall frozen in time.
My teacher says the pothos is easy to take care of, which is why it's the perfect classroom plant. It doesn't need much sunlight and can even survive for weeks without water! Maybe that's why it's so hardy and seems to thrive no matter what. I like
to think it's because the pothos feels right at home in our classroom garden.
During recess, I spend a lot of time sitting by the pothos, watching its leaves sway gently in the breeze. Sometimes, I'll reach out and gently stroke a leaf – they're so smooth and waxy to the touch. It's calming just being around this lively little plant. I've even started calling it "my green friend."
The pothos reminds me that even the smallest, simplest things in nature can be extraordinarily beautiful. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I look over at those glossy green leaves trailing down, and I feel better. My green friend is always there for me with its peaceful, elegant presence.
I hope our classroom pothos keeps on growing strong and healthy. Maybe one day, it will have trailed so long that it wraps all the way around the courtyard! A girl can dream, right? For now, I'll be content watching over my beloved, wandering green companion as it continually unfurls new leaves to greet the world.

Title: The Lovely Green Vines in Our School
Hi there! My name is Emma, and I'm a third-grader at Sunny Hill Elementary School. Today, I want to tell you all about the beautiful green vines that grow in our school. They are called "pothos" plants, but we like to call them "green ivy."
The green ivy is one of my favorite plants in our school. It has long, trailing vines covered with heart-shaped leaves that are a lovely shade of green. The leaves are glossy and smooth, and they feel nice to touch. Sometimes, the vines grow so long that they almost reach the floor!
We have green ivy plants in many places around our school. You can find them in the classrooms, the library, the cafeteria, and even in the hallways. My favorite spot is in our reading corner, where a big pothos plant climbs up a wooden trellis. I love sitting next to it when I'm reading my books.
Did you know that green ivy plants are really easy to take care of? That's why they're perfect for our school. They don't need a lot of sunlight, and they can survive even if you forget to water them for a little while. Our teachers and custodians do a great job of keeping them healthy and happy.
One of the coolest things about green ivy is that you can take cuttings from the vines and grow new plants. Last year, our science teacher showed us how to do that. We each got a little
cutting to take home and grow ourselves. It was so much fun watching my little plant sprout new leaves and grow bigger and bigger.
Green ivy plants are not just pretty to look at; they also help to clean the air in our classrooms. Plants like these absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which makes the air fresher and healthier for us to breathe. They also help to remove other pollutants from the air, like benzene and formaldehyde.
Having green plants in our school does more than just make the place look nice. Studies have shown that being around plants can help us feel calmer and more focused. That's why I love having the green ivy vines nearby when I'm working on my schoolwork or taking a test.
I'm so grateful that our school takes the time to care for these lovely plants. They add so much life and color to our classrooms and hallways. Whenever I see the green ivy vines trailing down from their pots, it reminds me of how lucky we are to have such a beautiful and welcoming school.
If you ever visit Sunny Hill Elementary, be sure to keep an eye out for our green ivy plants. They're a special part of what makes our school feel like home. And who knows? Maybe you'll
even get inspired to grow one of these easy, gorgeous plants yourself!

Green Ivy in Our Classroom
Our classroom has a special plant that makes me happy every day. It's called a "green ivy" but its real name is pothos. Miss Johnson told us it's one of the easiest houseplants to grow indoors. I think that's why we have it in our classroom!
The green ivy has long vines with pretty green heart-shaped leaves. The vines spill over the sides of the big clay pot it lives in. Some of the vines even trail down onto the floor! Miss Johnson lets a few students be the "ivy tenders" each week. We get to water the plant and check if any dead leaves need to be pulled off.
My favorite part is watching the new leaves unfurl. They start out so tiny and wrinkly, like little green buds. Over a few days, the leaves stretch out and unfold until they're big and flat and heart-shaped. I love how the new leaves are a brighter, lighter green before darkening to match the older leaves.
Last month, part of the ivy looked sick and wilted. We thought it might die! But Miss Johnson had us move the pot to a
sunnier spot, and soon it perked up again. I was so relieved because I don't want anything to happen to our classroom ivy. It makes me feel calm and peaceful when I look at it.
Sometimes I imagine the ivy is exploring and adventuring by sending its vines across our classroom. Maybe it will keep growing vines until it covers the whole room in a jungle of green leaves! That would be so cool. For now, I'll just appreciate having my green friend to look at while I'm doing my work.。
