英美教育对比英文作文

英美教育对比英文作文英文:When comparing education in the UK and the US, thereare several key differences that stand out. One major difference is the structure of the education system. In the UK, students typically attend primary school from ages 4-11, followed by secondary school from ages 11-16 or 18. After secondary school, students can choose to attend college or university. In the US, students attend elementary school from ages 5-11, followed by middle school from ages 11-14, and high school from ages 14-18. In the UK, while there are standardized tests such as the GCSEs and A-levels, they do not hold as much weight in university admissions.Additionally, there is a difference in the teaching style. In the US, there is often a focus on interactive and collaborative learning, with students encouraged to participate in class discussions and group projects. In the UK, there is a more traditional approach, with a focus on lectures and individual study. In terms of cost, university education is generally more expensive in the US, with many students accruing significant debt. 美国中小学教育primary and secondary school education

Name: Lynette Student Number: 12010303022The primary and secondary school in the USThe high level of American cultural education decides the leading position on science and technology all over the world. In American’s opinion, everyone has opportunity to accept education and develop personal talent and ability. Since 19th century, this ideal thought of compulsory education has been supported by the masses. Many people consider that prosperity of the US benefits from the popularity of education and perfect system of education but the education system of American also has deficiency.First of all, we should know something about general situation of the primary and secondary school education system. In the US, primary school and secondary school education is mainly managed by education committee of states and local governments. Many states carry out ten years’ compulsory education. The educational systems of every state are different. In most systems, education is divided into three parts, six years for primary school, three years for junior high school, and another three years for senior high school. There are two kinds of school in the US. One is public school and another is private school. Public schools are supported by government tax revenue and it is available for students to attend for free. Private schools are often sponsored by churches. In the junior high school’s stage, about 10 percent of students study in private schools. Similarly, there are also about 10 percent of students who attend private schools in the senior high school’s stage. All of states ask children who is of the right age to attend school and receive education. In most states, children must be under instruction before the age of 16. Every student has right to receive education whatever he or she is gifted at study. Everyone must have the same right to receive education in the same condition. States give the education responsibility to the local education committee. The majority of committee members are selected by vote which is from local school districts. Secondly, their education pattern can be analyzed from two aspects: educational system and curriculumprovision. In terms of educational system, the primary and secondary school education belongs to local government’s right (decentralization). Educational system of every state is not all the same. Generally, the education system includes kindergarten, primary school (from grade one to grade six), secondary school (from grade seven to grade 12), college, graduate school and so on. Among this system, the secondary school can be divided further. There are middle school (from 6 to 8), junior school (from 7 to 9) and senior high school (from 9to 12 or from 10 to 12). In the US, compulsory education is from kindergarten to grade 12. Next, we can talk about curriculum provision. American primary school is small-scale generally. Every class has just one teacher and the teacher must accomplish all tasks which are in-class and after-school. The courses of US primary and secondary schools are extremely flexible and pay attention to the balance and development of courses. At the same time, courses attach importance to difference between every student. Last but not least, I want to take advantages and disadvantages of American educational system and its features seriously. The originality of American education is obvious.1. American education cares for students. Students who are under such a good concept can get abundant knowledge, creative, strong sense of self and are very confident.2. American education underlines the bond of cooperation and individuality. It never asks students to remember something forcedly and doesn’t emphasize the depth of knowledge but the width of knowledge.3. When it comes to model of teaching, the most distinctive trait of American model is targeted.4. In the aspect of the curriculum, the regulations and requirements are very flexible. In fact, in American schools, various courses are offered and students have right to choose courses freely.5. In the aspect of teaching content, their form of teaching material is diversified.6. In aspect of teaching method, students are always leading character in classes. They always solve problems by their own and teachers are just director and observer. As an old saying does, every coin has two sides, so does American education. The originality of American education can be praised but the situation and results of it are not ideal. There are many reasons which contribute to that.1. In the US, any repeated basic skill training is seen as dull and boring work. This phenomenon directly leads to the decline of performance.2. The US carries out diversified management of courses and high dispersion of education. The standard of courses is multifarious and the quality cannot be ensured.3. Education at every level always cannot work well with each other.Fourthly, the courses content and requirements of US primary and secondary schools are inferior to many developed countries and the demand of students is not so high.4. Teachers overemphasize students that often cause the chaos of discipline.Factually, the US has also known about disadvantages of their education, so we can easily know about some important revolution of American education. Since 80s, 20th century, a school called “school-within-scho ol” has appeared. So-called school-within-school exactly establishes small community in school. At the same time, the US government attaches great importance to education equality. In 2002, the US government developed a plan called “No Child Left Behind” a nd the reform finally makes the rising quality of the US education come true. All in all, the basic education system of the US has advantages. The concept which is “people-oriented” develops students’ ability of independence fully. However, we never can forget the disadvantages. The education environment is too liberal to study and easily ignore that training of basic skills. Therefore, revolutions of education rise in respond to the proper time and condition. The revolutions of the US education are of great significance and promote the development of the US basic education without doubt.。

Class:1101 Name:David/Liu Guo DongTeam:#7 Student Number:#2What is the purpose of a university education? When it comes to the purpose of a university education, some people regard it a stage to fulfill their life; others think that a university education is to serve society. Personally, a university education is to help to improve ourselves and to prepare for future careers. [46]Firstly, a university education helps us to improve ourselves. At universities, we learn many things. For example, before entering universities, we can just use the Internet to chat with others, surf online and look through news; but we are taught how to use software like Microsoft Office, WPS and VFP at college time. One may improve a lot if he can master them thoroughly. Secondly, a university education is to prepare for future careers. We have to study very hard to get a master’s degree, through which you learn a lot. In addition, we choose many elective courses to enrich our mind and widen our scope. Educations in the UK and US 英美国家教育的异同

Educations in the UK and US Education plays an very important role in every country. Nowadays, expenditures on education are increasing rapidly. It suggests to some degree that to other nations education seems more and more necessary. I will tell educations in both UK and US.The British Education SystemIn the first beginning, I have a question to ask:Can education change British people’s social classes. My answer is probably no and I’d like to introduce the British education system to you.The purpose of the British education system is not only to provide children with literacy and the other basic skills they will need to become active members of society but also to socialize children.Historically, education was voluntary and many of the schools that existed were set up by churches. The influence of the church on schooling is still strong: religious education was the only subject which the state insisted all schools teach their pupils (other subjects were left up to schools to decide upon). Daily prayers and singing hymns is still a regular part of school life.Great changes in British educational system after the Industrial Revolution.(1) government involvement -in taking responsibilities for the education of children. In 1870, a law was passed to call for government–funded education.(2) By 1880, attendance at school for children between 5 and 10 was compulsory. And by the end of the 1st world War the school leaving age was raised to 14 to dissuade children from leaving school to support their families.(3) A new educational system emphasizing equality was constructed after the 2nd World war with the assistance of church and trade unions.(4) Education Act in 1944, made entry to secondary schools and universities meritocratic to make sure more children had access to a good education. All children were given the right to a free secondary education.(5) The less elitist school system failed because entrance to school was based upon exam performance. In the 1960s, comprehensive schools were introduced all over the country, which ended the division between grammar schools and vocational schools. Entrance exams were abolished and schools were no longer allowed to let children compete for places.(6) In 1976, the Labor Party started "the Great Education Debate" and was concerned about the inadequate skills of the labor force. In 1989, the Conservative Party led by Margaret Thatcher thought job training was important and introduced a National Curriculum and unified subjects. Students have to pass national tests and schools are marked according to the success of their pupils in reaching national targets. The National Curriculum has reinforced competitions between schools. Good schools attract good pupils and therefore attract more funding; which means they can hire better teachers, buy more books and equipment and produce more good students. The present Education System(1) The British education system is run by the state, which provides funding, oversees standard, and tried to make sure all British children receive a quality education.(2) Primary and secondary education in the UK is compulsory. Children between 5 --16 years old are obliged to attend school.(3) Children between 5 ---11 go to primary school(4) Children between 11 ---19 go to secondary schools (90% of them are enrolled to comprehensive schools without reference to their academic abilities). Some children choose to attend grammar schools at the age of 11 through 11plus examination. Higher EducationHigher Education has a long history in the UK. Oxford and Cambridge date from the 12th and 13th centuries, while Scottish universities of St Andrews, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen from the 14th and 15th centuries. The rest were founded in the 19th and 20th centuries. Universities, reflecting the trend throughout the education system, have traditionally been rather elitist. Most students were from the middle classes, attended good schools, performed well in their A-levels and received a fully-funded place in a university. In recent years, great efforts have been made to increase the numbers and kinds of people that pursue higher education.(1) British universities are public bodies which receive funds from central government.(2) The UK has only one privately-funded university ----- the University of Buckingham.(3) British higher education has a long history in the UK--- Oxford and Cambridge date back to the 12th and 13th century; Scottish universities of St. Andrew, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen date back to the 14th and 15th century; the rest were built in the 19th and 20th centuries. In the 1960s a large number of universities were built. In 1992, the number grew when polytechnics and other higher education establishments were given the right to become universities. By 1994, Britain had 83 universities. In 1980, 1 in 8 pupils went to universities; by1990 it was 1 in 5; by 2000 it was 1 in 3.From what have mentioned above,we can draw a conclusion that education cannot change British people’s social classes, especially for those coming from working class. Although the government did many efforts to erase the class inequality, working class children still left school at a younger age and with fewer qualification than middle class children. Because entrance to schools was based upon exam performance, the children of middle classes performed better. They had more free time, more access to help if they were having trouble(their parents could hire tutor)and valued education more than their working class peer who were often under pressure to quit school and find jobs in order to help their families. The American Education SystemThe purpose of the British education system is to achieve universal literacy and to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote both theirindividual welfare as well as that of the general public.Steps to set up a system of education in the US:(1)In 1634,they opened a “Latin grammar”school,a school for those whowanted to prepare for college.(2)In 1636,Harvard College was founded for the training of religious ministers.(3)In 1634 and 1638,the Puritans passed laws declaring that all property could betaxed for the common good, which included the support of schools.(4)In 1642 and 1647,the Bay Colony passed laws requiring that all property toprovide reading education for their children. Thus,in less than 20 years, the Puritans introduced two practices that still influence American youth:compulsory education for all children and public taxation for schools. What American students learn:(1)Elementary School. In statistical reports, “elementary school”usually meansgrades kindergarten through 8.(2)Secondary School.Again,in statistical reports, “secondary school”generallymeans grades 9~12.These grades are popularly called “high school.”However,in many districts, “junior high school”includes grades 7~9,and when grades 7~9 are included with the 10th,11th and 12th grades, all six are said to form a “senior high school.”(3)Undergraduate school. These are schools that offer either a two-year degreeor a four-year degree in a specific course of study. That course of study is called the major. While most schools that offer a four-year degree will admit students who have not yet chosen a major, all students are required to select a major by their second year at school. Students who complete an associate degree can continue their education at a four-year school and eventually complete a bachelor’s degree.(4)Graduate schoolThis is usually a two-year degree that is highly specialized ina specific field. Students are sometimes admitted to a master’s degree programonly if they have a bach elor’s degree in a closely related field. Students who want to advance their education even further in a specific field can pursue a doctorate degree, also called a PhD.Education for allIn 1944 Congress passed the servicemen’s Readjustment Act,soon popularly called the “GI Bill of Rights.”In postwar American, other groups sought their places on American’s campuses too. The enrollment of women in higher education began to increase.By the end of 1960s,some colleges introduced special plans and programs to equalize educational opportunities—at every level;for all groups.By the 1970s,the US government stood firmly behind such plans. In 1987,54% college students were women. It indicated that America succeeded in the plan to educate for all.。
美国教育 英语作文

美国教育英语作文I think the education system in the United States is quite different from other countries. In the US, students have a lot of freedom to choose their own classes and schedule. They can also participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, and clubs. This allows students to explore their interests and develop their talents outside of the classroom. One thing that stands out to me about the US education system is the emphasis on critical thinking and creativity. Teachers encourage students to think for themselves and come up with their own ideas. This is different from some other countries where rote memorization is more common. I think this approach helps students to become more independent and innovative thinkers.Another aspect of the US education system that I find interesting is the diversity of the student population. In many schools, you can find students from all differentbackgrounds and cultures. This creates a rich learning environment where students can learn from each other's experiences and perspectives. One thing that I think could be improved in the US education system is the cost of higher education. College tuition and fees can be very expensive, which can make it difficult for some students to afford a higher education. I think it's important to find ways to make higher education more accessible to all students, regardless of their financial situation.Overall, I think the US education system has a lot of strengths, such as its emphasis on critical thinking and creativity, as well as its diverse student population. However, there are also areas that could be improved, such as the cost of higher education. I believe that by continuing to innovate and adapt, the US education system can continue to provide a high-quality education for students.。

In addition, there are many elective courses to choose from. All of these help you to master the very knowledge that you are interested in. You will benefit from what you have learned in college in your lifetime.First, it can hoist our professional competence. Before the entrance into college, we study general subjects and only know some common sense of them. In university, everyone has his major, our duty is to study the specialized and in-depth knowledge. Obviously, in this area, we are top talent, there is no doubt our ability will be advanced in university.Second, it is a good way to train our independent study. Unlike middle school, there are a few courses in university, which means we have much more spare time than before at the mercy of ourselves. Also, college study is student-oriental rather than teacher-oriental in high school. Teachers only offer instructions at college. Depicting a well- organized study policy by ourselves is considerable essential in university. We can make full use of the library and Internet resource to learn well. In a word, we must own the self-direct study capacity, which is the most important.Third, socialize and practice ability can also be increased in university. University is different from high school due to its involvement of other affairs besides study. There are many communities and activities in universities, which provide us with a platform to full exert our potential and in these activities, our social abilities will be increase intangibly. Also, many of us are from cities or towns which are not the places universities are located in. This allows us to learn from each other and know how to get along well with people with different customs. The last but not the least, college education is a path leading to better jobs. College education pays more attention to students’ all-around development. We can not only focus on specialty study but also participate in all kinds of campus activities instead of the aim of just getting credits. Also, combining theory with practice makes us becom e qualified graduates. As a matter of fact, the higher the students’ grades are, the more materialistic and self-related their attitude towards the goal of college study will be. It is believed that the very reason for this is that students of higher grades have more knowledge about the society, thus may feel heavier pressure from the crucial competition of the job market which they will face in their near future. From a career point of view, college education is your hedge against unemployment, and it has a positive effect on your earning potential. The more you learn, the more you earn. On the other hand, it supplies the opportunity to a person who wants to learn more.In accordance with the statements above, university is a perfect place to cultivate our abilities, to forge our comprehensive qualities. My view on university education is to develop our different kinds of capacities, such as independent learning capacity, sociability, views and value of the society and so on , and then to endow us with these abilities of mental analysis, study and independence. In a word, no matter if it is for your own development or your career field, you need further knowledge and information, which are what college education can give you. Thus, college education is a sound investment in your future, although it might be expensive.。

Today, the major functions of the federal Department of Education are to ensure equal educational opportunity for all people and to improve the quality of education by providing federal financial-aid programs, funding research projects, facilitating information sharing, and enforcing civil rights laws.
Department of Education
In 1979, the federal Department of Education was created, but its function was limited to advising the states on how to establish effective school systems and to help finance certain educational program.
One of these reserved powers was the right of each state to provide for education of its people.
Education in America is in the hands of state and local governments.
The goal of education
The goal of education is to achieve universal literacy and to pational opportunities.
Though this goal has not yet been fully achieved, it remains an ideal toward which the American educational system is directed.
Responding to public pressure, boards of education in different areas often add courses on various relevant issues to the elementary and secondary school curriculum.
The Board of Education
Educational policy in the state is generally made by the Board of Education, whose members are prominent citizens appointed by the state legislature or governor for fixed terms.
The Board of Education oversees statewide educational polices, determines budget priorities, and approves new guidelines for schools.
Each of 50 states in the United States has its own laws regulating education. From state to state, some laws are similar; others are not.
Americans have a strong tendency to educate their children about major public concerns— problems such as environmental pollution, nuclear issues, neighborhood crime and drugs.
The progress which has been made is notable both for its scope and for the educational methods which have been developed in the process of achieving it.

The 10th Amendment was added to the Constitution to guarantee that “powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution …[would be] reserved to the [governments of the] States…”
Americans believe that education can create a common bound among the diverse groups that make up the American population and help preserve social stability.
