Unit 9 Have you ever been to an amusement park?
Part 1: Analysis of the teaching material
This part is the second lesson from unit 9 “Have you ever been to an amusement park?”, the topic is about Disneyland. It is very close to students’ life. So it can cultivate the students’ cultural ideology and broaden their horizon. Meanwhile this lesson is mainly to allow students to fully master the usage of present perfect tense, it requires students to use the present perfect tense to describe the places they have been to. By reading this article, it also will improve student s’vocabulary, grammar, reading skills and writing skills.
Part 2: Analysis of the students
In this stage, the students have learnt the present perfect tense. Therefore, they are not strange about it. That is to say, they can understand the present perfect tense better in the class. All students are in different situations, so we need to care the majority of them.
Part 3: Teaching aims
There are knowledge aims, ability aims and emotional aims.
Knowledge aims are to enable students to master new words and phrases: heard of, perhaps, character, theme, normal attraction, walk around, all the time, on b oard, route, island, end up;
And the sentence patterns: “Have you ever been to…?&I’d like to …”
Ability aims are to train students’ reading, writing ability and communicative
competence
Emotional aims are to learn to care about the others and enhance the friendship by asking people where they have been.
Part 4: Teaching important and difficult points
The teaching important point is how to let the students use the key sentences correctly.
The teaching difficult point is how to develop students’ reading skills.

Part 6: Teaching methods
In this lesson, I’ll mainly use ‘Task-based teaching method’ and ‘competitive approach’. Task-based teaching method is to let students finish the tasks assigned by teacher. Competitive approach is to let the students learn the team spirit.
Part 7: Teaching procedures
Step 1 warming up
Before the class, I’ll design the follo w ing chant to arouse students’ interest.
Clap, clap, clap, clap our hands,
I say go, you say gone,
Go, go, go, gone, gone, gone.
See, see, see, seen, seen, seen,
Hear, hear, hear, heard, heard, heard.
And then review the knowledge we have learnt last class.
Step 2 leading in
Firstly, I’ll show a short cartoon about Disney to students by PC. Then let the students say what they can see in the pictures. Next, I’ll invite students to go to the Disney with me. Namely start to learn unit 9 “Have you ever been to an amusement park”.
Step 3 Pre-reading
First, I’ll show some words and phrases in the form of PPT.
Next, I’ll ask students to skim the article with the words and phrases, and try their best to guess their meaning.
Last, I’ll lead the students to read the article and check the answers.
Step 4 While-reading
I’ll ask students to scan the article and accomplish the work as follows.
First, circle the interesting things in Disneyland and underline the boring things they think.
Next, lead the students to get the general idea by answering the following questions.
1) How many amusement parks in Disneyland are there?
2) What’s the theme of Disneyland?
3) What can we also call Disneyland?
4) What can you find in Disneyland?
5) What can you do on board in Disneyland?
Then, ask students to read the paragraphs one by one, and find out the topic sentences of each paragraph.
At last, teacher starts to check the answers and read the article again.
Step 5 Post-reading
In this step, students list the frame of the article with me and retell the article by giving key words and topic sentences.
Step 6 Do exercises
I’ll divide the students into two groups to have a competition by practicing 3b, and ask some students to act out on the platform. The group which acts worse have to give a show.
Step 7 Summary
In the end, I’ll summarize the knowledge we have learnt in the course with the students, and evaluate their behaviors. Such as: how to master the article’s general idea, how to find out the topic sentences, and so on.
Step 8 Homework
I’ll assign the following homework to the students:
1)Complete the blanks of 3c
2)Write a passage about the place they have been.
Part 8: Teaching reflection
After the class, I’ll write down my shortcomings and merits in the course, record the names of students who can’t understand the teaching content, and take appropriate measures to help them.。
