文章介绍了新的研究表明,运动可以减少和预防人们患抑郁症的可能性,甚至是有遗传风险的人。

21. For people suffering from depression (抑郁症), there’s an all-natural treatment they should use — getting more exercise. It could help fight depression, even if people have a genetic risk, new research shows.
For the study, researchers collected information from nearly 8,000 people and found those with related genes were more likely to have depression over the next two years after examining them. But that was less likely for people who were more active at the study’s start, even if they had a family histor y of depression. Higher levels of physical activity helped protect even those with the highest genetic risk of depression.
Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities were associated with a reduced risk of depression. Adding four hours of exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段经历) of depression by 17%, according to the study.
“Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi. “On average, about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”
Depression is a common mental illness globally, with more than 264 million people affected. “Depression is so ubiquitous, and that underlines the need for effective approaches that can impact as many people as possible,” Choi said. And mental health and primary care providers can use the findings to advise patients that there’s something meaningful they can do to lower their risk of depression.

B.Exercise is able to decrease and prevent it.
C.Different levels of exercise intensity matter the same.
D.Exercising 35 minutes daily is the most effective treatment.
4. How did the researchers reach their conclusion?
A.By analyzing a mass of data.
B.By conducting genetic research.
C.By comparing various levels of activity.
D.By tracking the subjects for many years.

文章主要介绍了现在越来越多喜欢绕着公园进行公园跑步以起到运动和锻炼身体的目的,同时政府也应该加大与运动有关的基础设施建设以鼓励全民运动。

22. Every Saturday morning, at 9 am, more than 50,000 runners set off to run 5km around their local park. The Parkrun phenomenon began with a dozen friends and has inspired 400 events in the UK and more abroad. Events are free, staffed by thousands of volunteers. Runners range from four years old to grandparents; their times range from Andrew Baddeley’s world record 13 minutes 48 seconds up to an hour.
Parkrun is succeeding where London’s Olympic “legacy” is failing. Ten years ago on Monday, it was announced that the Games of the 30th Olympiad would be in London. Planning documents pledged that the great legacy of the Games would be to level a nation of sport lovers away from their couches. The population would be fitter, healthier and produce more winners. It has not happened. The number of adults doing weekly sport did rise, by nearly 2 million in the run-up to 2012-but the general population was growing faster. Worse, the numbers are now falling at an accelerating rate. The opposition claims primary school pupils doing at least two hours of sport a week have nearly halved. Obesity has risen among adults and children. Official retrospections continue as to why London 2012 failed to “inspire a generation.” The success of Parkrun offers answers.
Parkun is not a race but a time trial: Your only competitor is the clock. The ethos welcomes anybody. There is as much joy over a puffed-out first-timer being clapped over the line as there is about top talent shining. The Olympic bidders, by contrast, wanted to get more people doing sports and to produce more elite athletes. The dual aim was mixed up: The stress on success over taking part was intimidating for newcomers.
Indeed, there is something a little absurd in the state getting involved in the planning of such a f undamentally “grassroots”, concept as community sports associations. If there is a role for government, it should really be getting involved in providing common goods-making sure there is space for playing fields and the money to pave tennis and netball courts, and encouraging the provision of all these activities in schools. But successive governments have presided over selling green spaces, squeezing money from local authorities and declining attention on sport in education. Instead of wordy, worthy strategies, future governments need to do more to provide the conditions for sport to thrive. Or at least not make them worse.
1. According to Paragraph1, Parkrun has_____.
A.gained great popularity B.created many jobs
C.strengthened community ties D.become an official festival
2. The author believes that London’s Olympic “legacy” has failed to_____.
A.boost population growth B.promote sport participation
C.improve the city’s image D.increase sport hours in schools
3. Parkrun is different from Olympic games in that it_____.
A.aims at discovering talents B.focuses on mass competition
C.does not emphasize elitism D.does not attract first-timers
4. With regard to mass sport, the author holds that governments should_____.
A.organize “grassroots” sports events B.supervise local sports associations C.increase funds for sports clubs D.invest in public sports facilities
5. The author’s attitude to what UK governments have done for sports is_____.
A.tolerant B.critical
C.uncertain D.sympathetic

文章主要论述了为什么跑步是最简单的运动的原因。

24. Reasons Why Running Is the Easiest Exercise
Some people think that running is hard. I once thought that too. 1 Here’s why it is such an easy activity to start and stick to.
★It can be as easy or hard as you want.
Many people start running by going out and running as fast as they can for as long as they can. That is not so fun. 2 But easing into it is a different story. Start slowly and cover a short distance. Then gradually work your way up to it. In this way, running can be pain-free and actually wonderful.
★ 3
Classes at the gym are great but they always end up never working for me. With a busy life, I find it hard to take a class. On the other hand, with running, you just need to find the time whenever you can, here and there, and change it around.
★The gear (设备) is simple.
4 However, that’s really just about all you need. Expensive sport-specific clothes are available(可用的) but not required. If you fall in love with running, you may think you need some seasonal running clothes. Even so, that will be cheaper than bike gear.
★You can do it anywhere.
You can run in the city. You can run in the country. You can run on a track, in a park, on the street or even on the beach. You can run at home. You can run when you travel. And in fact, running around new cities when you’re traveling is great
fun. 5
A.You can do it on your own schedule.
B.Choose some training classes at the gym.
C.It is important to have proper running shoes.
D.It might make you hurt or even cause injuries.
E.That is a wonderful way to get to know a place.
F.Starting at a running track is a great way to begin.
G.But if you work out properly, it is easy and wonderful.

At an indoor soccer field, two Frisbee(飞盘) teams are engaging in a competition. “By cooperating with team members, the players 1 catch the frisbee in the assigned area can score for the ir team,” said 22-year-old player Rui.
China’s craze with Frisbee started last year in Shanghai, but it 2 (spread) to many other cities across the country ever since. On Xiaohongshu, a social media platform, there have been more than 80, 000 posts 3 (feature) Frisbee, reflecting Chinese youngsters’ 4 (enthusiastic) for this fast-moving, non-contact sport.
Rui has been into Frisbee for less than six months. Relatively new 5 she was, Rui quickly became a team leader thanks to h er experience in soccer. “Frisbee is a friendly game for girls, as physical contact is not allowed,” said Rui. She has invited six friends of a similar age 6 (participate) in the sport. According to Wu Chunhu,
head of the Qipan club, Frisbee combines the characteristics 7 many other sports, including soccer, basketball and rugby, while maintaining its unique features. As China builds 8 (it) into a strong sporting nation, and health awareness increases, more people — especially those 9 (bear) between 1995 and 2009 —are taking up new sports like Frisbee, Wu noted. Growing up in a different environment from their elders, they have witnessed China’s rise as a 10 (globe) economic powerhouse and formed a new outlook on life. For Ge Ziwei, a Post- 1990 Frisbee fan, the sport is not only fun to play, but also allows him to expand the range of his social circle.
十三、读写任务(书面表达)
26. 请阅读下面的文字,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章Researchers in the Netherlands report that children who get more exercise, whether at school or at other places, tend to have higher scores on standardized tests. In a review of 14 studies that looked at physical activity and academic performance investigators found that the more children moved? the better their grades were in school, particularly in the basic subjects of math, English and reading.
The data will certainly fuel the ongoing debate over whether physical education classes for senior three students should be reduced or even cancelled. The arguments against physical education have included concerns that gym time may be taking away study time. With standardized test scores in the US dropping in recent years, some administrators believe students need to spend more time in the classroom instead of on the playground. But as these findings show, exercise and academics may not be consequently exclusive. Physical activity can improve blood flow to the brain, memory, attention and creativity, which are essential to learning.
