Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China. It is also known as Chinese New Year. It marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is a time for families to come together to celebrate and enjoy each
other's company.
During Spring Festival, people clean their homes to sweep away bad luck and make way for good luck to enter. They also decorate their homes with red lanterns, couplets, and paper cuttings, as red is believed to bring good fortune and happiness. Families gather for a reunion dinner on New Year's Eve, where they eat delicious food and exchange gifts.
One of the most exciting parts of Spring Festival is the fireworks and firecrackers. The loud noises are believed to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck for the coming year. Children especially love this tradition and look forward to setting off fireworks with their
families.
Another important tradition during Spring Festival is giving and receiving red envelopes filled with money. These red envelopes are given by older family members to younger ones as a symbol of good luck and prosperity. It is always a joy to receive these red envelopes, especially for children.
In addition to these traditions, there are also many cultural activities and performances that take place during Spring Festival. People watch dragon and lion dances, visit temples to pray for good fortune, and participate in various games and competitions.
Spring Festival is a time of joy, happiness, and unity for Chinese people. It is a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the new year with hope and optimism.
