Teaching Plan Remarks
Teaching aims 1. To read and recognize the words rainy, snowy, windy, cloudy and sunny.
2.To read and use the sentences in their daily life. What’s the weather like in …? It’s … (and …).
3.To make a world weather report like a weather re- porter.
4.To improve Ss’ interest in learning English by listen- ing, doing & saying.
Important points To grasp the words rainy, snowy, windy, cloudy and sunny.
Difficult points To read the words rainy, snowy and the names of the countries correctly.
Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up & Revision
1. Greet the class.
2. Say the chant on Page 25 and do the actions.
3. Talk about the weather.
4. Oral communication. The words underlined can be replaced to make some more dialogues.
T: It’s time for English class. What time is it? Ss: It’s 9:00. T: Is it cold? Ss: No, it isn’t. T: What’s the weather li ke today? Ss: It’s hot. T: Can I have some Coke? Ss: Yes, you can. Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1. Play a Guessing game. T Shows the places on the screen and asks What’s the weather like in …? Ss guess the weather in different places with the sentence pattern Is it… in …?
2. Show Singapore and the weather sign on the screen, then have some individuals guess. Lead out sunny and practice with a Golden
Finger game.
3. Show Beijing and have some individuals guess what’s the w eather like in Beijing? Then lead out windy and practice with a High-low Voice game.
4. Use the same way to lead out the other 3 words rainy, snowy, cloudy with some kinds of practising methods.
5. Let’s play. Read through the 5 words then ask and answer.
S1: What’s the weather like in …?
S2: It’s … and ….
S1: Is it rainy in London? S2: Yes, it is.
S1: Is it snowy in Beijing? S2: No, it isn’t.
6. Show a map of the world. Then have some individuals act as a weather reporter.
eg. S1: Good mo rning! Here’s the world weather. It’s hot and sunny in Sydney….
Step 3 Consolidation & Extension
1. Read and spell all the words together. Read them group by group. Check up individuals. Correct mistakes.
2. Let’s find.
Have Ss find out the regulation and make a conclusion of memorizing the words of n. and adj.
3. Let’s play.
A. Show some cards. Teach by demonstrating.
B. Ss work in pairs.
Step 4 Summary & Homework
1. Focus on the key words and sentences.
2. Do homework
A Read the words and copy them.
B.Report the world weather by using the key words and sentences
learned in this lesson.
