Welcome to the unit
1.worry (v.) 担心-----worried (adj.)担心的look worried 看上去担心的
2.Growing up is hard. Growing是动名词做主语。
3.not... until... 直到...才 e.g I didn’t finish my homework until my father came home.
4.allow sb to do -------(被动) sb be allo wed to do . e.g Students aren’t allowed to smoke.
5.o n one’s mind 挂在心上 e.g My study is always on my mind.
Reading
1.high (adj)------height ( n.) the height of...
2.because +从句because of + 单词或短语
3.even harder 甚至更努力even, a little,far,much等可修饰比较级,但very不可。
4.simple(adj.)简单-------simply (adv.) 简直;简单地 e.g His drawing is simply terrible.
The problem is simple to solve.
5.lead (v.)领导,带领------leader(n.)领导者lead sb to... Hard work leads us to success.
6.success(n.)-------successful(adj.)-------successfully(adv.)--------succeed(v.)(succeeded,~)
succeed in doing He succeeded in passing the exam.

9.achieve (v)(通过努力)达到,取得----achievement(n.)成就(可数)

主要对比两者的第一个意思,through作为通过来说,通常后接名词,by作为通过来说,通常后接doing.
12.matter (1) (v.) 要紧,有重大影响e.g It doesn’t matter wh ich one you choose.
(2) (n.) 事情,问题 e.g What is the matter ?
13.sb be refused to do(被动) e.g Tom was refused to join us.
Grammar
1. before, after 的用法
(1) before “在…之前”,表示主句动作发生在从句动作之前。
e.g. It will be four days before they come back.
(2) after“在…之后”,表示主句动作发生在从句动作之后.
e. g. After you think it over, please let me know what you decide.
2.when, while的用法:
(1)When 当...时候,表示主句动作发生的特定时间。
如:
When my mother came in yesterday,I was doing my homework.
注意:when引导的从句谓语动词可以使延续性的,也可以是短暂性的。
(2)while 用法有两点:
当...时候,强调主从句的动作同时发生进行。
如:
While I was watching TV,my father was reading newspaper last night.
②在...期间,表示主句动作发生在从句动作进行的过程中。
如:
While the boys were playing football, it started to rain.
注意:while引导的从句动词必须是延续性动词,就是说while从句要用进行时。
(3)在when和while引导的从句中,当主句和从句的主语一致时,可构成when/while + doing 的结构。
如:While (I was) listening to music, I was doing my homework.
When she is in trouble,she always asks me for help.
3.Since ,till和until的用法
since 自从...时候。
从句用一般过去时,主句用现在完成时。
如:
We have bee n friends since we were young.
till和until 到...为止,可以通用,但till不用于句首。
注意:如果主句的动词是瞬间动词时,必须用否定形式,即“not...until”,意为“知道...才(开始)”。
如:Walk till/until you see a white house.
I didn’t go to bed until I finished my homework.
4.①as soon as “一...就...”
He will visit you as soon as he gets there. (主将从现)
We began to work as soon as we got there. (过去时,要一致)
②Whenever “每当,任何时候”
He likes listening to music whenever he has time.
注意:whenever可以用every time 替换。

2. keep
(1) keep +adj. “保持某种状态” (2) keep sb./ sth. +adj. / 介短… “使某人/某物怎么样” (3) keep sb. doing sth. “使某人做某事” (4) keep sth. +段时间“借某物一段时间”
(5) keep doing sth. “持续做某事”
(6) keep sb. from doing sth. “阻止某人做某事”
= stop sb. from doing sth. / prevent sb. from doing sth.
3.include(v.)-------- including(prep.)
用法:include是动词,可用于主语后做谓语,而including是介词,通常前面有逗号。
(只要记住,前有逗号的用including。
)
