W:I’m really sorry.

M:Y es, but I’ll drive my own car.
W:O h, then you drive along the street in front of our hotel, turn right at the third turning, and then take the first left. Keep straight on until you see the road sign that says “Art Museum”, and then you follow the sign. It will direct you to the Art Museum. It is behind a bank.
M:O K. Thank you.
W:Y ou’re welcome.
Text 9
W:H ello. Care for the Community. How can I help you?
M:O h, good morning. I’m interested in doing some part-time work for your organization. My name is Philippa Tailor. I’m a student at Brookfields University.
W:G ood morning, Philippa. When would you be available to work? Days? Evenings?
M:W ell, days would be difficult, as I have classes then. I was thinking maybe a couple of evenings
a week, or maybe three. But no more than that.
W:O K. Philippa, why are you interested in working for us?
M:W ell, I major in Social Care Studies. I’m hoping to apply for a job in social care when I graduate, and this would give me some work experience in this field.
W:G reat. And what makes you suitable for this kind of work?
M:W ell, I have very good communication skills. That’s my strong point, I think. And I’m a good listener.
W:H mm. What I’d like to do, if it’s OK with you, is fix an appointment so we can meet and talk about this some more. It wouldn’t be anything formal, not an interview or anything like that. Er, how are you fixed for Tuesday 9th September at 4:30?
M:A h, I’m sorry. I have a lesson then. Would Wednesday be possible?
W:T he 10th? Yes, that would be fine.
Text 10
This summer I took part in a really interesting project. It’s called One-Day Clean-up and its aim is to clear the world’s natural environment’s rubbish. I heard about its work from my neighbors who used to take part some years ago. I thought it would be fun and persuaded a couple of my cousins to come along with me. But it wouldn’t matter if you took part on your own. You’d soon make friends with other people there. Most of the people there were teenagers. We were a very international group in my team. Over half of the people there were from Australia, like me, but there were also people from China, Thailand and the U.S.A. Most teams were working on the south coast of the country, but mine was working on the east. We had to pick up all the rubbish that we could find by the seaside. It has all made me realize how important it is for everyone to be aware of the environment. I’m determined now to get my family to recycle as much as possible. It’ll be worth it if we can make our seas safer for all those beautiful sea animals. So, if you’d like to join me taking part in this Day next year, it’ll be on January 11th. The focus on that day will be on getting rubbish out of rivers. There’ll be a day later in the year on cleaning up woodlands.。
