Procedures
■Warming up by studying the title “I like music that I can dance to.”
Hello, class. Listen to this music. Do you know what music it is? Do you like it? What kind of music do you like? I like music that I can dance to.
Now look at this music and try to analyze its structure.
1a Looking and circling
Turn to page 44, look at the picture and circle the sentences you agree with. Make your own sentences like this: I like music that…
1b Listening and checking
Listen to the tape and check the music that Tony and Betty like.
Now go to page 131 to read the conversation. While reading try to find all the sentences with “that relative clauses”.And also cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study all the predicates, circle all the linking words and underline all the expressions. That’s grammar study, indeed.
Copy the useful expressions in your notebook.
Now let’s talk as they do in the conversation. We are going to talk in imitation of the conversation we have just heard and read.

Now in pairs talk about the music you like.

2a Listening and circling
Go to page 45 and listen to circle “T” for true or “F” for false. Listen for all the r elative clause with that and who and write down your notebook.
Make your own sentences with “that /who r elative clause”.
Read the conversation again and turn it into a short article.
2b Listening and completing
Listen to the Tapescript in 2a again and complete the sentences in the box on page 45 in 2b.
2c Pairing and speaking
In pairs make conversations using the information from 2a and 2b.

Good morning, class! To begin with let’s try to make as many that and who relative clauses as possible.
1 Filling in the chart
What are your favorite band, book and movie? Fill in the chart on page 47 with their names.
It's so good to have a favorite band. Truly... a one and only favorite. A favorite band never gets old, and stays with you throughout years. No matter what age you grow to, the music is your music; it brings good old memory to you. That one band and its collection of music is ALWAYS your FA VORITE!
2a Listening and writing
Next you are going to listen to a dialogue between Michael and Ali and write down the three things they talked about. While listening, listen for the form of the sentences.
Now go to page131 to read the conversation. While reading try to find all the sentences with “that and who relative clauses”And also cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study all the predicates, circle all the linking words and underline all the expressions. That’s grammar study, indeed.

On page 48 are three reviews. Mark the things the reviewers like, and underline what they don’t like.
