Fashion:
A: What did you think bout the fashion show last night?
B: It was d umb. In my opinion , it’s not appropriate for women to wear clothes like that.
A: I didn’t see anything wrong with the clothes ; they look pretty nice to me .
C: Nowadays there are many kings of clothes.
B: D, do you know the people wearing miniskirts at the show?
D: Really? What’s your opinion about that people can wear that stuff and walk around the streets?
A: At least, some people certainly can. They wear high-fashion clothes to show off their sense of style and wealth.
B: Well, I still think they‘re dumb. It’s more meaningful to spend the money on more practical purposes. What do you think of girls wearing miniskirts?
C: Some people believe that good girls should never wear miniskirts because it is too revealing. On the other hand, there are girls who prefer to break with tradition, play a new, independent role in society,so they choose to wear something daring and rebellious such as a miniskirt.
D: As for me, I’m in favor of the farmer point of view and don’t like those who wear miniskirt s.
A: Ha, You are out of date .We need fashion and I want to dream of being a fashion model.
D: Well, What are the fashion models?
C: Fashion models are people employed by fashion house to show off their new designs.
B: Yes, top models like Claudia Schaffer and Naomi Campbell may appear in fashion shows in Pairs or Milan, New York and London in the course of a month.
A: Well, they are also wanted frequently by fashion magazines to be photographed wearing the latest styles.
D: Oh, That I know ,attractive models in the world appear form behind a door and walk down along raised runway, stopping ,turning, posing as they go,
all with the purpose of showing the advantages of the new designs.
C: Yeah, you say right .The fashion house hold shows to present their latest creations.
D: Oh, that sounds great, But…When you are wearing something new or fashionable, do you feel shy or proud?
B: Some people are daring and self-confident by nature. They feel proud of themselves when putting on new, fashionable clothes.
A: That self-confident people is me .I won’t feel shy and on the other hand, I want to be the center of public attention.
D: Well, I tend to be shy. The last thing I wish to do is to seek the spotlights. Naturally, I may feel ill at ease with stylish clothes.
C: As far as I’m concerned, I would feel confident in a new dress; this has something to do with my childhood experience.
B: Do you think fashion shows are necessary in today’s society?
A: Obviously fashion shows have been around for a long time in various parts of the world. This fact shows that they are an indispensable part of the modern culture.
D: However, I ‘d like to point out that the pursuit of fashion should not take up the greater part of our
live. After all, work and study are much more important than fashion show.
A: I agree with you .While some people react to you differently when you wear different clothes?
C: Some people do treat me differently according to what I ‘m wearing. They are often called snobs. Fortunately, those people do not represent the majority.
D: Most people judge you by your ability, intelligence and moral integrity rather than by the clothes you wear.
B: I agree with you.
A: Hi B, I am going to the video shop to buy some movie’s DVD, would you like to go with me?
B: I’d love to. I also want to buy some DVDs, you know, many movies are worth to watch a second time.
A: That’s good, thank you. I know you have watched many movies; you can give me some nice suggestions.
B: OK, I’m glad to introduce the movies which I liked so much.
C: Wait a minute, I have won a lottery!
B: Really? Congratulations!
A: What a lucky man.
D: You get the point.
C: ha, thank you. The prize is four movie tickets. I have invited D to go to the theatre with me. A&B, would you like to join us?
D: Yes, we know you two like watching movies and some new films have been shown very often recently.
A: I’d love to, but I prefer watching a DVD at home to going to the theatre.
B: Me too. I feel very sorry.
C: Oh, why?
A: Watching DVDs alone makes me very relaxed. I would be amused by the funny words and actions, but I have to avoid laughing out loudly in the theatre. D: But the artificially produced sound effects are much better in the theatre than at home. When the sounds of weapons are heard in a theatre, you feel as if you were on a real battlefield.
C: Moreover, the presence of an audience can create a good atmosphere. You can easily be immersed in the movies. When you watch a movie first time, you should go to the theatre; you can understand the movie better.
B: But the PAUSE button and replay is unavailable. D: What you say is quite right. When we watch some foreign movies, our lack of background information often requires us to make too many inferences. If you don’t understand the movie when you are in the theatre, you also can buy the DVDs and watch the movie again.
C: You can buy the DVDs whenever you want, but you can’t see a movie in the theatre if you miss the date.
A: Um, what you two said is very reasonable. D: Yeah, and you may laugh heartily when the whole audience bursts into wild laughter.
C: We are going to see the new film-----<>, it’s a perfect movie. Come on, please.
A: Ok, I’m glad to go with you, how about you B? B: Let’s go.。
