摘要:Detection ability for metal is improved. A metallic body is detected if located symmetrically with respect to an exciter. Difference in polarity of an output signal is eliminated between a case where the metallic body is located on one side and a case where it is located on the opposite side. In a method of detecting the metallic body by a change of an output signal when receivers (3), (5) and a detection region are located in a primary magnetic field by the exciter (1), the output signal of the receiver varies by generation of a secondary magnetic field or deformation of the primary magnetic field if the metallic body (R) is located in the primary magnetic field of the detection region so as to detect the magnetic body by the change of the output signal, the exciter has, on its both sides, a pair of current lines for generating a pair of primary magnetic fields whose polarities are reverse to each other, and the receivers have an insensible direction to the magnetic field. The receivers are located asymmetrically with respect to the exciter and at positions on one side of the exciter, and located in the primary magnetic field on one side of an excitation coil. They are located in the insensible direction to the primary magnetic field to the one side of the coil. When themetallic body is not present in the primary magnetic field of the detection region, the output signal of a reception coil is set
to zero or a micro value.
