Last summer, I volunteered to work as an English teacher in a primary school for children ofmigrant workers.去年夏天,我自愿在一所外地农民工子弟小学当起了一名英语教师。
To be accurate, I didn’t volunteer.I was dragged in.(literally)确切的说,我并不是自告奋勇去参加的。
我其实是被拽着参加的。
(从字面上说)When my friend first hit upon the idea of this project, I was all against it:“What? To spend myvacation standingin the heat,当我的朋友首次提出参加这个计划时我是完全反对的:“什么?让我整个暑假冒着酷暑,Yelling at a bunch of nine-year-olds who couldn’t even speak pro per Mandarin Chinese? And besides, there`s no payfor my toil. No, I am definitely not going.”对着一帮9岁大的小孩大声嚷嚷,他们甚者连普通话都说不标准。
而且我的辛苦工作是无偿服务。

21世纪英语演讲冠军演讲稿
21世纪・爱立信杯"全国英语演讲比赛冠军得主的演讲稿:To me March 28th was a lucky day. It was on that particular evening that I found myself at central stage, in the spotlight. Winning the "21st Century・Ericsson Cup" Seventh National English Speaking Competition is a memory that I shall treasure and on that will surely stay. More important than winning the Cup is the friendship that has been established and developed among the contestants, and the chance to communicate offstage in addition to competing onstage. Also the competition helps boost public speaking in China, a skill hitherto undervalued. For me, though, the competition is a more personal experience. Habitually shy, I had been reluctant to take part in any such activities. Encouraged by my friends, however, I made a last-minute decision to give it a try. In the course of preparation I som ehow rediscovered myself, a truer me.I found that, after all, I like communicating with other people; that exchanging views can be so much fun―and so much rewarding, both emotionally and i ntellectually; that public speaking is most effective when you are least guarded; and that it is essential to success in every walk of life.At a more practical level, I realized knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to say it are equally important. To take the original ideas out of your head and transplant them, so to speak, to that of others, you need to have an organized mind. This ability improves with training.Yet there should not be any loss or addition or distortion in the process. Those ideas that finally find their ways in to s another head need to be recognizably yours. Language is a means to transmit information, not a means to obstruct communication. It should be lucid to be penetrating. In China, certain public speaking skills have been unduly emphasized. Will it really help, we are compelled to ask, to bang at the podium or yell at the top of your lungs, if you have come with a poorly organized speech, a muddled mind, and unwillingness to truly share your views Above all, the single most important thing I learnt was that as a public speaker, you need to pay attention, first and foremost, to the content of your speech. And second, the structure of your speech: how one idea relates and progresses to another.Only after these come delivery and non-verbal communication: speed control, platform manner, and so on. Pronunciation is important, yet of greater importance is this: Is your language competent enough to express your ideas exactly the way you intend them to be understoodI was informed afterwards that I was chosen to be the winner for my "appropriately worded speech, excellent presence and quick-witted response". In so remarking, the judges clearly showed their preference: they come to listen for meaningful ideas, not for loose judgments, nor easy laughers. Some contestants failed to address their questions head on. Some were able to, but did not knows where s to stop the dragging on betrayed their lack of confidence. The root cause was that they did not listen attentively to the questions. Or they were thinking of what they had prepared. As I said in my speech, "It is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking ... to take them [issues like globalization] on and give them honest thinking is thefirst step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way". We need to respond honestly.A competition like this draws talented students from all over the country. And of course, I learnt more things than just about public speaking. Since in the final analysis, public speaking is all about effective communication. And this goes true for all communications, whatever their setting. And the following is the final version of my speech:GLOBALIZATION:OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGESFOR CHINA'S YOUNGER GENERATIONThirty years ago, American President Richard Nixon made an epoch-making visit to China, a country still isolated at that time. Premier Zhou Enlai said to him, "Your handshake cam e over the vastest ocean in the world twenty-five years of no communication". Thirty years since, China and America have exchanged many handshakes. The fundamental implication of this example is that the need to communicate across differences in culture and ideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations as well.As we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are making joint efforts to address the issue of global warming, economists are seeking solutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonetheless cripple the world economy, and politicians and diplomats are getting together to discuss the issue of combating terrorism. Peace and prosperity has become a common goal that we are striving for all over the world. Underlying this mighty trend of global communication is the echo of E. M. Forster's words "Only connect!" With the IT revolution, traditional boundaries of human society fall away. Our culture, politics, society and commerce are being sloshedsinto s one large melting pot of hum anity. In this interlinked world, there are no outsiders, for a disturbance in one place is likely to impact other parts of the globe. We have begun to realize that a world divided cannot endure. China is now actively integrating in to s the world. Our recent entry to the WTO is a good example. For decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant, but now we realize the importance of participating in and contributing to a broader economic order. From a precarious role in the world arena to our present WTO membership, we have come a long way. But what does the way ahead look like In some parts of the world people are demonstrating against globalization. Are they justified, then, in criticizing the globalizing world Instead of narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor, they say, g lobalization enables the developed nations to swallow the developing nations' wealth in debts and interest. Globalization, they argue, should be about a common interest in every other nation's economic health. We are reminded by Karl Marx that capital goes beyond national borders and eludes control from any other entity. This has becom e a reality. Multinational corporations are seeking the lowest cost, the largest market, and the most favorable policy. They are often powerful lobbyists in government decision-making, ruthless expansionists in the global market and a devastating presence to local businesses. For China, still more challenges exist. How are we going to ensure a smooth transition from the planned economy to a market-based one How to construct a legal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of a dynamic society How to maintain ourcultural identity in an increasingly homogeneous world And how to define gre atness in our rise as a peace-loving nation Globalization entails questions that concern us all.Like many young people my age in China, I want to see my country get prosperous and enjoy respect in the international community. But it seems to me that mere patriotism is not just enough. It is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking and broaden our mind to bigger issues. There might never be easy answers to those issues such as globalization, but to take them on and give them honest thinking is the first step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way. This is also one of the thoughts that came to me while preparing this speech.。

"i started explaining, and finished in a hurry. pretending not tonotice her still confused eyes, i ran off quickly. nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. and two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. no one ever knew about the little task i failed to fulfill, but i couldn't forgive myself. i simply couldn't forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, "why didn't you do a little more to help me, whenit was so easy for you? why didn't you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that i would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?"i was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for i began to understand theword "responsibility" and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.later in my life, i continued to experience many failures. but never again did i feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that i have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best i can.as i grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, i began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. new buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.new ideas, new information, new technologies. people can talk with each other from any corner of the earth in a matter of seconds.society is becoming more competitive.words like individuality and creativity are getting more emphasis and more people are rewarded for their hard work and efforts. such is the era in which this generation ,grows and matures.such is the era in which this generation will take over the nation from our fathers and learn to run it. yet in the meantime, many problems still exist.we learn that crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of people looking on and not assisting. we hear that there are stillabout 1 million children in this country who can't even afford to goto elementary schools while enormous sums of money are being squandered away on dinner parties and luxury cars.we buy shoddy medicines, or merely worthless junk in the name of medicines, that aggravate, rather than alleviate our diseases since money, many people believe, is the most important thing in the world that must be made, even at the expense of morality and responsibility.such an era, therefore, determines that we are a generation with a keener sense of competition and efficiency and a greater readiness to think critically and act creatively.such an era, furthermore, demands, that we are a generation with a clear perception of our historical responsibility and an aggressive will to take action and solve the problems. history has long been preparing these qualities in this generation and it is now calling us forward to give testimony to our patriotism and heroism towards this nation and all humanity.standing here now, i think of the past 15 years of my life as an ordinary student. probably i'll be an ordinary man for the rest of my life. but this doesn't discourage me any, for i know that with my sense of responsibility and devoted efforts to always strive, for the best, it's going to be a meaningful and worthwhile life that i willbe living.standing here now, i think of the past 15 years of this nation, which has achieved greatness that inspired millions of people of my age, most of whom will not attain fame or prestige and only a few of whom will be remembered by posterity. but that doesn't discourage us any, because we know that the world watches, the world listens, the worldis waiting to see where this nation will be heading in a time of rich opportunities and fierce competition.i can't ever forget that little girl in my class who couldn't had the same opportunities as any of us here to enjoy a wonderful life today and a hopeful world tomorrow.it is the sacred responsibility of this generation to face up to the challenges of the new century and to devote our sweat and blood, our wisdom and passion, to the historic cause of making this nation a greater and happier land for every one of us.we are not going to evade that responsibility. we are going to let people down. and people, far and near, will hear of us. frost will be brought to their backbones and tears to their eyes when our stories are told and retold, so let us go forth, my fellow members of this luckily chosen generation, and meet the new century in victory and glory.。

21世纪全国中学生英语演讲比赛总决赛-冠军诸康妮演讲听译稿
Assignment:Which one of the films (The Inconvenient Truth and The Great Global Warming Swindle) is more convincing? Write a composition about 500 words to illustrate your opinion.Morning, ladies and gentlemen, today I’m going to talk about discove r yourself. Ever since the accelerated development of human civilization, perpetual scientific discoveries of nature had accompanied mankind all along the journey. It was by discovering the world around us that the human being is then able to lead a more sophisticated life. However, as G.K. Chesterton once said, one may understand the cosmos but never the ego. The self is more distant in any star. Thus, our life is a journey of unrelenting efforts to discover more of ourselves. When I was six, I constantly pictured myself as an elegant-skilled pianist that rendered XIAOBANG’s nocturnal beautifully on stage receiving warm applause after my performance. However, as I furthered my piano lessons, it was hard to be oblivious of my non-gifted skills. Sometimes, I couldn’t help but have this feeling of despair when I woke up to reality and discovered that my goal was unrealistic. Brutal but real. It was the first time I had discovered that I couldn’t have it all. When I was twelve, I thought the coolest job in the entire universe was to be a surgeon. I spent hours and hours watching the drama Grey's Anatomy and couldn’t help falling in love with the kind of life those doctors lead on the screen. I was utterly mesmerized by the scalpel and all those fancy medical terms they use. However, I stopped dreaming about being a surgeon when I discovered that it was the idea of being a surgeon that appealed to me not what it truly was. As a result, the dream ended and I discovered some more about myself. This year, I turned sixteen and I could proudly say I do not dream to be but ascertain to pursue being a lawyer in the future. Since junior high school, I had always been awarded the most eloquent debater in every single debater participated in. I can not only think logically but also deliver my thoughts promptly. My huge interest in philosophy also adds to my reasoning whenever I try to argue with something equivocal. Being aware of the obstacles and hardships on the way to become a great lawyer never panics me for the simple re ason that I have this faith and passion in what I’m aspiring after. G.K. Chesterton was absolutely correct: the most complicated part of comprehending the world is the study of the somehow smaller world, ourselves. I’ve subsequently realized that growing u p is the process of discovering yourselves. We get to know what we truly are and become who we dream to be. As we shape ourselves and as we shape our lives, we gradually become more aware of our limits and potentials and consequently learn to adjust to wha t’s out there. And by that, ladies and gentlemen, I’m proud to say that I have discovered the part of myself and so discovery today and definitely a lot more in the future. I will always keep this embedded in my heart. Things do not change. We do. And that’s all. Thank you.Thank you very much. Now, here is your topic for impromptu speech. This is kind ofchallengeable. Nowadays, many students fall in love high school. Do you support this behavior? And will such love relationships last long? And is it good for students’ future development, youridea, please?Ok, thank you very much. (Here come several sentences in BRITISH ACCENT SOOOOO OBVIOUS & TYPICAL) First of all, I would like to say that this is rather a prevalent phenomenon these days. We can see that a lot of students around me are having this kind of “young puppy love”. And I think it’s utterly normal for them because I can understand why they do this. They are trying to seek recognition from the other sex instead of from academic success. However, I’m utterly against it because I think it is utterly detrimental to our future development and also it will never last long. First of all, we can understand that we are still rather immature psychologically at this current stage and most important thing for love is that we cannot actually fully understand what love is. And for the most important part is that I can see students around me having puppy love simply messing around seeking pleasure instead of making commitments. And because of this kind of flimsy a ttitude, I think all they could do is to mess around and that’s why puppy love dies in a blink of an eye. And for example, I could see Mary would be dating David on the first day of November. However, two days later, she is kissing Tom on the inside of campus. And that’s very normal these days. And secondly, I think it’s because for puppy love, it is very detrimental to our future development because, at this particularly stage of our time, what we should do is to dedicate our valuable time to studying and participating in activities in order to go to a wonderful college in the future. And time is less and because of that I think Shakespeare once said that love is blind. And a lot of young students sort of lost themselves in this procedure. And that’s very, very costly. And so in conclusion, I would like to view this problem from the view of economics. We are making rational choices; we should consider the modular benefit and modular cost of its particular problem. And in the case of puppy love, I see the modular cost exceeds the modular benefit a lot. And that’s the reason why I think this is something that should not be approbated and for the case of those people who are thinking that true love might be lost through this way. I always say that true love can wait, because if not, it would not be true love at all. And we will have nothing to lose. And that’s the reason why I have kind of opinion, thank you.Good morning.Good morning. My question has to do with faith and passion. In your speech you say that a billion times in your life you had the faith and the passion for a specific career in that time. What makes no different you feel that’s the way you want to go professionally is to be a great lawyer but youngpeople nowadays tend to have a thought one day to be this and the next day to be that. So what makes no different from the way you were before?Ok, thank you very much. I think the reason why I choose to be a lawyer in the future I choose to pursue this career is different from choosing to become a pianist and a surgeon is because there was one time that I think this kind of career is the one that best fits me. I am a sort of a debater in my early days and I have this kind of technique in order to pursue this career. And that is the practical reason why I think this is why, that this career is best fits me. And secondly it is because personally I have watched a movie called “the time to kill” and it was about a case where a black girl got rapped and the only lawyer who stepped forward to fight for her is a white lawyer. And the whole process is very complicated. But what I see from that story is that I’m very interested in human rights and I want to argue for those people who have their rights trampled and their freedom, how to say, stealed(stole) away and if I could be that lawyer although sometimes I may have to go against my will and argue for a murderer, a rapper, a criminal, I will always remember that I have taken an oath that I have to do this job. This is my obligation. And I think because of these reasons I have this passion because I love this job and I have the technique because I’m a debater and speaker in public situations and that’s why I think this is different from the other choices. That’s all, thank you.Good morning.Good morning. If love can be mission, it’s economic benefits and economic disadvantages. Is that actually love? And what is love?Ok, thank you for your question first. I think love is something that cannot be really measured qualifiedly. But the reason why I brought up the terms, terminology in economics is because it first jumped to my mind when I think about making rational choices. And Love is something that makes us become irrational. And that is the reason why I applied this two terminology. But I think for to answer your question of what love is, personally, I would say that viewing from my parents’ view and also looking at different cases around me and from novels and films and movies, I think love is about commitment. It is something; it’s responsibility instead of just love for the first sight because if you believe in love in the first sight you should believe that it would be gone in an instantly away. And because of that, I think love is something that should be taken at heart. It is not just physical attraction, because one day it would die out. But what makeslove go, goes on forever is this kind of responsibility that we have to shoulder on our shoulder. And it’s something that we should not be just giving it away instantly. And that is what I think is love. That’s all, thank you.。

“21世纪杯”英语演讲比赛决赛演讲稿集锦决赛特等奖选手2018级陈若曦Honorable judges and dear fellow students,Just as most people here, when I first saw the topic reform and opening-up policies,a voice came out, saying what a grand scale! Then those big events, such as China’s access ion to WTO,the launch of Shenzhou and the submersion of Jiaolong flashed through my mind. However,at this moment I stand on the stage as a member of Chinese youth,I’m not gonna draw a magnificent blueprint for you. What I exactly want is to find out the relation between Chinese youth and this era of reform and opening-up.It is known to all that in the past 40 years,China has captured the opportunity provided by globalization and grown rapidly from nobody to the second-largest economy in the world. In this context,it could be said that we young people have had better resources than ever before. To be more specific, let’s pick up some daily life’s fragments: for example, one Sunday morning, you don’t feel like going outside,so you pull out your smartphone and quickly order a takeout on APP to comfort your empty stomach. In another case ,there’s been a discount on Taobao .After struggling with your equipment and the net speed, you finally got your favorite goods at the best prize, because the most complete supply chain and logistic chain worldwide will solve the remaining work for you,so all you have to do is waiting. Not to mention the increasing number ofpeople going abroad, with a Chinese passport, they are entitled to travel around the world and come back home safely. But now I wonder how many of you have realized that this convenience, this sense of security does’t come out of air, surely we could regard it as the product of reform and opening-up policies, nevertheless,do you really understand what are behind those achievements? There is a saying, if you live at ease , that is because there are a great many people who are working for you in silence. They might be the politicians and entrepreneurs who climb into the raging flow to explore and promote the system construction of market economy, they might be the intellectuals who devote their lives to prompting the engine of development, and they might be every single person we have access to.In other words,we youth do not take it for granted, the more resources we possess means the more responsibility we will shoulder. When the 95s were claimed to be the new youth in China and the first millennial stepped into campus, baton of the era has also been approaching.Although China is moving firmly towards its goal of rejuvenation ,deficiencies and problems still exist. So in this sense,we youth ought to grow stronger to sustain the potentiality of development. With the baton in hands,do not afraid to embrace the mercurial society ,do not afraid to change the future. So that as the new youth we could feel more emboldened to say that facing the reform and opening-up policies we are not only the gainers but also the successors!Thank you!决赛二等奖张亦弛Reform and Opening-up : Dare to embrace the worldGood afternoon everyone, my name is Jack. It’s my great privilege to stand here and share my own perspective about 40 years’reform and opening-up.Through the long history of China, reform is easy to witness. Some reforms just shifted the rulers’name yet had little influence on the society. Others, however, can be revolutionary and our reform and opening-up policy is one of them.Born in 21st century, it is hard to have the exact feeling about the life before 1978.Luckily, I can grasp some information from my parents and my grandparents. On a personal note, the most impressive change that has occurred during the 40 years is people’s concept of living, or to be specific, the concept of allocating their salary. For instance, Elder people like my grandparents always cut off their monthly budget and then save the surplus money into the bank account. While young adults are more likely to use the remaining salary to do some investment or with the loan if necessary. I did ask my grandparents why not follow suit, they told me it had risks that they didn’t want to take. Apparently, we stand in this period and all know that such kind of trade and investment is helpful to the economy ascent. Thanks to Mr. Deng’s policy, we can now dare to trade both domestically and internationally.Beside economy, swift development in other aspects is also prodigious. As you can see, Skyscrapers stand in the city and huts are no more. Cars take the main avenue and bikes step aside. Varioustravel modes are available for common civilians. Imagine, what kind of condition we may live in if the reform and opening-up policy is absent? Do you want to live in the condition that was similar to forty years ago. Ok, back to the point, when mentioning transportation, you all know what I am going to talk about is our high speed-rail whose both speed and technology top all over the world. Dating back to 40 years ago, it is nearly impossible for people to imagine such changes can literally take place. Due to the reform and opening-up, I can now jump out of the well and embrace the world. Flash as 40 years may be, we indeed witness and experience the happiness that the reform and opening-up has brought us.Therefore, as a freshman, it is my duty and also our duty to be explicit about our directions and master adequate professional knowledge which will be the basis of our contributions to the community and creating harmonious environment for the next generation. Do not be afraid that your contribution may not be considered as innovative as Deng Xiao Pin did, because it is the little parts that you have done that build up the world we live in today. In the end, I have to say that reform and opening-up is a great fortune for every Chinese. Owing to the window it opens for us, I can now embrace the world. That’s all. Thank you.文字来源:陈若曦张亦弛21世纪房屋租赁合同范本根据中华人民共和国有关法律、法规,甲乙双方在自愿公平、诚实信用、等价有偿的基础上,经充分协商,签定本合同。

What would you do if you had only one day left to live?(by 金璐清华大学第十四届“21世纪·联想杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军)“What would you do if you had only one day left to live?”I asked this question to my young students when teaching English this winter. What were their answers?“I would watch television!” the first answer. “I would play with the computer!”the second one. “I would play with computer TOO.” The girl finished her sentence perfectly with a serious smile. Indeed how cute and innocent that smile was, but how seriously my heart was hurt. I was too frightened to listen to more answers like that.Ten years ago, at their age, I had a different answer: I would spend the last day of my life gazing at the face of my dear grandmother until I inscribed every detail of it onto my mind. When grandmother was getting old and weak, my family bought her a telephone so I could save time and the trouble of traveling to her home by making phone calls instead. Later we bought her a television so she could watch modern dramas by herself. Then grandma must have been, we assumed, very contented and happy. But I never really knew how grandma felt. She silently passed away without a word one night. When I heard about her death, a chilling pain pierced my empty heart. The pain grew even sharper as I tried to remember in detail exactly how grandma looked and I failed completely! How could I remember? I had not visited her for ages—it seemed like a century! My memories of her dissolved into thin air and leaked away like water.Even though I have a telephone, can she hear me now?Even though I might be on television, can she see me now?Even though I have modern telecommunications, can she still communicate with me now? With all these “tele”s, I was powerless.Don’t people just love the word of “tele”, which means far away. Indeed this is how modern technology has changed our world. But please don’t forget this other word with “tele”: telepathy: which refers to human beings’ inborn ability to connect to our loved ones. Our minds are supposed to read each other’s minds; our hearts are supposed to feel each other’s hearts — and fulfill these without any forms of tool! But the moment I desperately struggled to remember grandmother’s face, the telepathy between her and me had shut down forever. With the help of modern technology, I killedour telepathy. This shall never happen again! The “tele”s are great inventions. But “telepathy”gives them the warmth of a human face. Let’s harness the power of television to excite our kids to develop their telepathy with nature… so that they can read the secret language of flowers. Let’s make the telephone lines provoke us to preserve our telepathy with each other, so we can connect in a warm and feeling way. Let technology keep our “telepathy” ALIVE! We need to wake up and make this happen.I told my grandma’s story to those young kids that day. They got very quiet. They asked me for a second chance to answer the question. They had come to a new understanding – that very moment they had made to me and to our future together, a dear promise.Thank you very much! From made in China to created in China(by 赵心妍北京外国语大学第十三届“21世纪·联想杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军)One in four computers in the world comes from China; but from each computer produced, China earns only what 10 apples are worth. I read this in People’ Daily not long ago. While the force of globalization has spread Chinese-made products all over the world and earned China the name “world’s factory”, China earns very little profits from this kind of low-cost production. It’s even been said that China has to export 800 million shirts to get an airplane. The problem is, China has involved in countless processes of production, but doesn’t necessarily have the intellectual property rights. If all we can be is part of the low-cost, labor-oriented production process, we’ll remain in a passive, disadvantaged position and gradually lose our competitive edge in the global arena. To develop China’s creative industry, transforming products from "made in China" to "created in China" has become one of China’s major tasks. This transformation will be no less like a marathon, requiring much effort especially that from Chinese enterprises, the major force in Chinese economy. Though there’s no one in front leading us which direction to run, there’s much to learn from some Chinese enterprises that have already found the right strategies and are shining on the global stage. These strategies involve brand identity establishment, technological innovation and modern management system.Firstly, the brand that I mentioned above is an intangible yet most valuable asset to a company. It gains credibility from consumers, thus constituting the reason for consumers to buy habitually. Tong Ren Tang, the largest producer of traditional Chinese medicine, remains one of the oldest surviving brand names. The credibility that it gained through quality products has made its name known worldwide and maintains its recognized brand. The second strategy is innovation of technology, which helps enterprises gain its core competency. In the global era where technology emerges at a rapid speed, one has to adopt the latest technology, and also to compete for the speed of developing new ones. The success of Haier, the third largest household appliances manufacturer in the world, lies in its constant innovation. Over the past 16 years, Haier has invested a total of 7 billion RMB in technological development, using 6 percent of its income for scientific research and the development of new products. At present, Haier's development operational speed is turning out 1.3 new products a day, maintaining its upper-hand in the fierce competition. The third strategy is the establishment of modern management system. New Hope Group, the National Leading Enterprise for Agriculture, started from family-owned business. When the business was soaring and situation was changing, the family members had divergent views of management. To make sure of the development of their business, they decided to turn their company into a limited liability one, distributing property rights efficiently. Because of this, the company increased its competitiveness rapidly. Establishing a modern management system will lead to efficient levels of division of labor and efficient patterns in the business cycle. With brand identity, technology and flexibility, China’s creative industries will blossom and give China the cutting edge in the fierce global competition. One day, China will stand firm and proud, with national brands thriving on the global markets, and with millions of products tagged “created in China”, instead of “made in China”.Giving is Receiving-Personal Growth in Volunteer Work(by 陈星南京大学第十二届“21世纪·联想杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军)Last summer, I volunteered to work as an English teacher in a primary school for children of migrant workers. To be accurate, I didn’t volunteer. I was dragged in. When my friends first hit upon the idea of this project, I was all against it: “What? To spend my vacation standing in the heat, yelling at a bunch of nine-year-olds who couldn’t even speak proper Putonghua? After all, there’s no pay for my toil. No, I’m not going.” But my friends twisted my arms to have me join them. Unexpectedly, the first lesson I taught turned out a lesson for me. The moment I stepped into the shabby classroom, I was touched by the loud, respectful voices in unison: “Good morning, teacher!” Instead of fooling around, the children were thirsty for knowledge and efficient in absorbing everything I was able to give them.I started to blame myself because I hadn’t even prepared for the class. During the break, I leaned over the squeaky desk, chatting with a sweaty boy in the front row: “Without air-conditioning, it’s pretty hot here. Are you tired?”“Not at all,” said he, shaking his head. “It’s fine here. My Dad builds asphalt roads. That is really tiring and hot.”As summer advanced, my enthusiasm as a teacher grew. I prepared my teaching carefully and even used some methods my teachers used. I organized many group activities to give the kids fun. Strangely enough, the heat was also becoming less and lessunbearable.Soon, my one-month volunteer work came to an end. When I was leaving my last class, I turned back and saw smiling faces and waving hands. Never before had I ever had such a feeling of sadness, which was nevertheless mixed with a sense of enrichment, fulfillment and happiness. I was paid for my work, amply paid, not in terms of money, but something more valuable. My English was improved. I was able to teach it, although not very professional.I learned about the grassroots-level society. Inside myself a heart is growing, a heart that not only beats for myself, but cares for others as well. The volunteer work gave me a precious little chance to say thanks to people like the little boy’s father, who construct highways and undergrounds, build up modern skyscrapers, and make our cities more and more beautiful. To help the children with their English was all I could do at present to show my gratitude to these unsung heroes. The world may not have been fair to them, so people like me are obliged to do whatever we can to help make their life better. Whatever I do for them, however, I know it cannot be compared with what they have done to improve the quality of life in our cities. Ladies and gentlemen, now I realize that volunteering is not just a one-time personal experience. It should be a lifetime activity of everybody. Many of us are now offering our assistance to the needy and to each other. Our efforts have indeed made a difference. Whether we are helping children with their schooling, or caring for the elderly in nursing homes, or helping out with 2008 Beijing Olympics, we will not only contribute to the harmony of the world but also elevate ourselves. Emerson once said, “It’s one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” He was right.I hear that my university is going to organize another voluntary teaching program this summer. This time I won’t be dragged in. I will volunteer. Our Future: A Battle between Dreams and Reality(by 曹丰清华大学第十一届“21世纪·澳门之星杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军)Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:When I was in the primary school, I have a dream. I want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the university, my dream was to graduate. How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less and become more realistic. Why? Why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be "fulfilled"? Why do we have to surrender to the so-called "reality"? What IS the reality actually?Ladies and gentlemen, the reality is not real. It is a barrier keeping us from all the possible fantasies. Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousandsof years. A hundred years ago, "man could not fly" was still regarded as the "reality". Now if that was really the reality, what did the Wright brothers do? How did some of you get to Macau? Only when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams.People say that our future is a battle between the reality and our dreams. And if, unfortunately, Mr. Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all. AIDS will never be curable as this IS the reality; People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this IS the reality; 4)Disputes among different countries would never be settled as this misunderstandings and intolerance IS the reality.Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of money? Please raise your hands. Oh, quite a number of you! Actually, ladies and gentlemen, this is not a dream, but a task. Every one of us has to make a living, right? Anyway I hope your task will be accomplished. How many of you think that you have already fulfilled your dream and that you don't dream anymore? Dear 5)adjudicators, what do you think? C.S. Lewis once said, "You are never too old to dream a new dream." So for our future, please dream and be unrealistic. Now that I am a university student, my goal is to graduate with excellences. But at the same time, I have a dream deeply rooted in our future. One day, people living in the areas now 6)sweltering with the horror of wars will be able to sit with their families and enjoy their every moment. One day, people from the rich countries are willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries and those from the poor countries will eventually be able to make their own happy living themselves. One day, different cultures in this age of globalization will coexist with tolerance and the unfriendly confrontations among them will be 7)eliminated. One day, the globe will share the dream with me and we will all contribute to making our dream come true. One day, our dream will defeat the reality! Thank you very much.。
演讲致辞-21世纪杯全国英语演讲比赛冠军演讲稿 精品
“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军演讲稿Facing this audience on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere petition or contest. It is an assembly of some of China\'s most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the ing of a new century.I\'m grateful that I\'ve been given this opportunity, at such ahistoric moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.Though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, I believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years. In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons. The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself. One day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, Could you please explain this to me? I want very much to do better this time. I started explaining, and finished in a hurry. Pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, I ran off quickly. Nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. And two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. No one ever knew about the little task I failed to fulfill, but I couldn\'t forgive myself. I simply couldn\'t forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, Why didn\'t you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you? Why didn\'t you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that I would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?I was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the wordresponsibility and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, forit makes my heart satisfied to think that I have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.As I grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, I began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. New buildings, new modities and new fashions appear every day.New ideas, new information, new technologies. People can talk with each other from any corner of the earth in a matter of seconds. Society is being more petitive.Words like individuality and creativity are getting more emphasis and more people are rewarded for their hard work and efforts. Such is the erain which this generation ,grows and matures.Such is the era in which this generation will take over the nationfrom our fathers and learn to run it. Yet in the meantime, many problemsstill exist. We learn that crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of people looking on and not assisting. We hear that there are still about 1 million children in this country who can\'t even afford to go to elementary schools while enormous sums of money are being squandered away on dinner partiesand luxury cars.We buy shoddy medicines, or merely worthless junk in the name of medicines, that aggravate, rather than alleviate our diseases since money, many people believe, is the most important thing in the world that must be made, even at the expense of morality and responsibility.Such an era, therefore, determines that we are a generation with a keener sense of petition and efficiency and a greater readiness to think critically and act creatively.Such an era, furthermore, demands, that we are a generation with a clear perception of our historical responsibility and an aggressive will to take action and solve the problems. History has long been preparing thesequalities in this generation and it is now calling us forward to give。
Globalization Time for Cultural Discovery 魏莉薇:第13届“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛亚军
Globalization: Time for Cultural Discovery魏莉薇:第13届“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛亚军Globalization: Time for Cultural DiscoveryGood morning, ladies and gentlemen,As I stand here speaking to you in English, I am already globalized. While shopping, I see the fair Chinese ladies carrying Prada handbags, I find they are globalized. Watching Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings with friends—yes, you can anticipate the refrain, we are all globalized! In this era of globalization, we are one way or another all globalized.B ut realize this: when people’s heads turn to the fresh things that globalization literally delivers to our doors, the traditional things which we take for granted become ignored and sometimes forgotten. Consider Lao Qiang, an ancient form of opera. It has almost vanished from the stage and only fewer than 20 people know how to sing it. So, how can we discover and explore our traditional culture? How can we rejuvenate and share them with the whole world? Well, there are three factors we need to keep in mind.To begin with, the mass media plays a vital role in discovering traditional culture and connecting it with the widest possible audience. One evening in 2005, for example, when my father and I were watching the final round of the popular TV show Star Road, we both became fans for a contestant named A Bao. We were attracted by his high pitched tenor voice, his traditional Shaanxi folk tunes and Shaanxi costumes. Apparently we were not his only fans. Star Road has aroused great popular interest in Shaanxi folk music. Such media can help popular audiences to discover lost arts and introduce people to them for the first time. The mass media raise the people’s popular interest in the traditional arts, but it is the performing artists who really develop the people’s understanding of traditional culture. Yang Liping’s dance show Yunnan Image, based on primitive Yunnan dance style, has had an enormous influence in and out of China. Yang has recovered for us the primitive life in Yunnan. It is the raw and unadorned beauty of nature in her dancing that moves her audience most. We desperately need professional artists’ endeavor to discover traditional arts, to train apprentices, and to project our traditional culture on the global stage. The third strategic factor in promoting our culture in global competition is an audience who knows what and how to appreciate our culture. But toda y’s youth—tomorrow’s explorers—are ill equipped to appreciate the traditional culture. Take myself as an example: I have had no painting or music classes since senior high school! No extracurricular activities like Chinese painting or calligraphy since primary school! What paltry little we learn about our traditional Chinese culture is relegated to a few lines and pictures in history books. We need our government and our school system to give us a better opportunity to embrace our traditional culture and discover its rich legacy for ourselves.Ladies and gentlemen, the age of globalization should be a time for cultural discovery, not cultural extinction! Our traditional culture needs our concern and support to survive! With our combined efforts, we can save our valuable culture from extinction and showcase it, so it can shine brightly on the global stage, shared and enjoyed by people all around the world!。

21世纪演讲比赛视频篇一:21世纪演讲比赛三分钟稿 Absolutely, Our Chinese should cheer up and be very proud of our country ,because we have made great achievements only over the past few decades. In economic area,we have become the largest economy ,and we even succeed the title,“world factory” ,from America who have kept this for over 70 years .We have made “Made in China” walk around the globe. However to drawn into success seems be too early. As we are going further down our road on simple manufacture of low technology products, problems arise. We are losing our advantage:our labor price and land price have kept rising all the time ;the domestic market shows no big expansion both of which show that newly emerging marketing countries such as India, are taking our place. What’s more, the limited profit and payment, the overusing and wasting of natural resources, the environment pollution ,the low reputation of our product both abroad and within our people’s heart are doing damage now, dragging our country away from from the chance of being a more abundant, more environment friendly, more wellrespected state.Yes,“Made in China” is confronting our country with very serious situations. Nevertheless, we are still a country of great hopes ,we still have our own privileges. And all of these advantages earn us opportunities to climb out of the terrible future. Do you know why the first “world factory”,the BritainEmpire, switched away from the simple manufacture? Finding their products were no enduring as Swiss,no elegant as french,no technological advanced German,Britons had to changed, had to be more competitive in these area . History is the best teacher. We can learn from not only Britain Empier ,but all countries that have experienced the shift from simple manufacture. Among the experiences, innovation is always the core. To achieve this, education reforms, advanced regulations and laws are called. Social atmosphere and government policy should be more patent friendly. Those who smile to the end smile best.“Made in China”is just a milestone we have passed. So,let us never stop and move on to the next one.

From made in China to created in China
One in four computers in the world comes from China; but from each computer produced, China earns only what 10 apples are worth. I read this in People’ Daily not long ago. While the force of globalization has spread Chinese-made products all over the world and earned China the name “world’s factory”, China earns very little profits from this kind of low-cost production. It’s even been said that China has to export 800 million shirts to get an airplane.
This transformation will be no less like a marathon, requiring much effort especially that from Chinese enterprises, the major force in Chinese economy. Though there’ s no one in front leading us which direction to run, there’s much to learn from some Chinese enterprises that have already found the right strategies and are shining on the global stage. These strategies involve brand identity establishment, technological innovation and modern management system.
One day, China will stand firm and proud, with national brands thriving on the global markets, and with millions of products tagged “created in China”, instead of “made in China”.
Firstly, the brand that I mentioned above is an intangible yet most valuable asset to a company.

The second strategy is innovation of technology, which helps enterprises gain its core competency. In the global era where technology emerges at a rapid speed, one has to adopt the latest technology, and also to compete for the speed of developing new ones. The success of Haier, s manufacturer in the world, lies in its constant innovation. Over the past 16 years, Haier has invested a total of 7 billion RMB in technological development, using 6 percent of its income for scientific research and the development of new products. At present, Haier's development operational speed is turning out 1.3 new products a day, maintaining its upper-hand in the fierce competition.
