1.概况 版本
每10年左右改版一次，ICD目前最新版本是ICD-10，出版于 1992年。 得到广泛使用的是1975年出版的第9版，称为ICD-9。 1979年美国国家健康统计中心出版了ICD-9的临床修订版 ICD-9 CM。 其欧洲版为HCIMO（Classification Internationale des Maladies et operations, adeptation hospitaliere）。

3.特点
ICD-9综合运用了病因、解剖部位和表现等轴心进行分类。它 不描述某一疾病是如何发生，也不为某一病人编码，即便在最 初的目标中，ICD-9也缺乏时间的观念（如当前、进行性恶化 等）和病理生理学的观点（呼吸、支气管过敏等）。
ICD-10的主要特点是新、全、细。它包括了近年来对疾病的 新认识，有一个更为全面、丰富的索引，疾病分组更详细， 比ICD-9扩展了1.6倍的容量。它的应用范围不仅考虑到疾 病统计生命统计，而且照顾到医院管理、科研和医院付款 的使用。
