arm, get hit by a ball...
Step 2. Prereading.
Read the title and the
picture.
Sa: A mountain climber.
Sb:How to get out of the
difficult situation.
Step 3. Whilereading.
1. Ordering
Put the sentences in the
correct order.
2.Finishing the table
Read Para. 1 and 2 to finish the table about “The 2003 Accident”.
Then talk about the accident according to their chart in class.
3.Making judgments.
Read the statements and circle True, False or Don’t Know.
4.Finishing the mindmap.
Step 4. Postreading.

Sa: I think he’s ...
Sb: A spirit of making good decisions.
Sc: A spirit of never giving up.
Show the table on the screen and check the answers after 4 minutes.
Make sure Ss can understand all of the words. Explain if necessary.
Check answers after 2 minutes and encourage Ss to correct the wrong statements.
Let Ss plete the mindmap. Check the answers after 4 minutes. And then encourage Ss to retell the passage based on it.
