Image life as a game in which you are playing some five balls in the air. You name them -work, family, health, friends and spirit, and you’re keeping all these balls in the air.
You understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably (不可逆转地) scuffed (磨损), marked, damaged or even broken into pieces. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. How?
Don’t undermine (逐渐损害) your worth by comparing yourself to others. It is because we are different that each of us are special. Don’t set your goals by what other people consider important. Only you know what is best for you. Don’t take for granted (理所当然地认为) the things closest to your heart. Hold on to them as you would to life, for without them, it’s meaningless. Don’t let life slip through your fingers by living in the past or in the future. By living your life one day at a time, you Live all the days of your life. Don’t run through life. Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also where you are going. Don’t use time or words carelessly. Life is not a race, but a journey to be enjoyed slowly each step of the way. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a gift. That’s why we call it-the present.

We know hat many animals do not stay in one place. Birds, fish, and other animals move from one place to another at a certain time. They move for different reasons: most of them move to find food more easily, but others move to get away from places that are too crowded.
When cold weather comes, many birds move to warmer places to find food. Some fishes give birth in warm water and move to cold water to feed. The most famous migration (迁徙;洄游) is probably the migration of the fish called “salmon.” This fish is born is fresh water, but it travels many miles to salt water. There it spends its life. When it is cold, it returns to its birthplace in fresh water. Then it gives birth and dies there. In northern Europe, there is a kind of mouse. They leave their mountain homes when they become too crowded. They move down to the low land. Sometimes they move all the way to the seaside, and may of them are killed when they fall into the sea.
Recently, scientists have studied the migration of a kind of lobster (龙虾). Every year, when the season of bad weather arrives, the lobsters get into a long line and start to walk across
the floor of the ocean. Nobody knows why they do this, and nobody knows where they go.
So, sometimes we know why humans and animals move from one place to another, but other times we don’t. Maybe living things just like to travel.

Science has told us so much about the moon that it is fairly easy to imagine what would be like to go there. It is certainly not a friendly place. As there is no air or water, there can be no life of any kind. There is no variety of scenery either. For miles there are only flat plains of dust with mountains around them. Above, the sun and the stars shine in a black sky. If you step out of the mountain shadows, it will mean moving from severe cold into great heat. These extreme temperatures continually break rocks away from the surface of the mountains. The moon is also a very silent world, for sound waves can only travel through air. But beyond the broken
horizon, you see a friendly sight. Our earth is shining more brightly than the stars. From this distance, it looks like a huge ball, colored blue and green and brown.
64.Science is so advanced today that _____.

B. everybody likes to go to the moon
C. the moon is becoming nearer and nearer to us
D. the moon is not mysterious any longer

Finding a suitable place to live is not easy for a student who first arrived in a strange place. I was lucky because I had booked a dormitory with the school before I arrived. It was a flat with seven independent rooms and a shared bathroom and kitchen. All of my flatmates are all students from Britain. I though I was lucky to be part of this flat with these energetic young men. However, I found myself unhappy with them only a few day, after I stayed there. There young people seemed never to be quiet. Usually they would not come back until late into the night. They even played football in the room whenever they like, whether it was early morning or late night. Worse still, they always had parties. Those loud music and laughter made me sleepless the whole night. Finally, I had no choice but to ask the authority to move me to another flat where most of the students were international students pursuing their master degrees. They were older in age and hold heavier study burdens. So they were quieter.
My advice for those who want to study in the UK is to get in touch with the international student accommodation service of your school first and tell them to arrange for you to share a flat with graduates before you come here.

Geneva is situated between the Jura Range and the Alps on the western end of Lake Geneva. Capital of pace is one of its names—the European headquarters of the Untied Nations lies here in Palais des Nations. Another worthy name for this city with a humanitarian tradition (人道主义传统) and international character is the World’s Smallest Metropolis. Parks, splendid stores and lively streets in the old part of town and its 2, 000-year history wait to be discovered.
The Jet d’Ean together with the Flower Watch are the main attractions every year for the tourists visiting Geneva. The Jet’d Ean has become he symbol (象征) of Geneva for a long time. This is a 140 meters high water monument with a rich history. Eight 13, 500-watt projectors light the grand columm (圆柱) of the fountain in the evening, from early March until the second Sunday of October. The Flower Watch, which was created at the edge of the English Garden in 1955,reminds us about that Geneva is the birthplace of the Swiss clock and watch making, and that this industry has become internationally famous, as well through the quality of the watches as through their beautiful appearance.
