The content of the story
• The story was narrated from the present day by an elderly man，telling a story to a nursing woman. • Allie Hamilton was a girl from a wealthy family spending summer in Seabrook. At a carnival, Allie met Noah Calhoun, a local boy who worked at the lumber mill. Over the summer, their romance blooms and they spent every moment together. • Allie's parents disapprove of her relationship with Noah and she and Noah got into an argument. Allie and Noah broken up, but immediately regretted the decision. Allie's family leaved Seabrook the next day .Noah, devastated, wrote to Allie one letter every day for a year which her mother hided. After Allie didn't reply to him, Noah moved to Atlanta. After the attacks on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the army for World War II while Allie attended college. • Accidently Allie read the newspaper ,finding Noah and the house which was repaired for her. She planed to look over him before she married to another man.

• Before watching this book, I thought this book told a story of two young people’s sentimental love. After finishing it, I understand something. As an old Chinese saying goes: to hold your hand, to grow old with you. It’s not easy to find the right person to spend our whole life with. How many couples are defeated by time, distance, money or any other things? But they do. Although the story itself is common and old, Noah and Allie’s faithful love still moves everyone. The love in summer is the most beautiful and it symbolizes hope and passion. I think that is love which fills up Noah’s heart as sunshine does, unresistingly. I know, In our life, there will at least one time that you forget yourself for someone, asking for no result, no company, no ownership nor love. Behind every great story is a great love. We should cherish the person standing by our side and make every minute counts.
