第一部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
My younger cousin is very naughty. He is 6 years old. He likes to play around with us. One example took place 2 years ago. My younger cousin was invited to have lunch with us. When he just came in at the door of my bedroom, my little sister started crying. I was wondering what happened to her. Then I saw the naughty boy wearing a mask on his face. It was a blooding head with green eyes. I had to comfort (安慰) my sister and explained to her what the truth was.
Another example happened last year. My cousin’s mother was going shopping, so he was sent to my home again. He just held the TV remote control (遥控器) and told me to leave him alone. A few hours later I got out of my bedroom to see if he was doing well. I just saw a broken alarm clock on the floor and he was sitting on the sofa having a drink. I wanted to cry because it was almost a new one. He jumped off the sofa when he found that I was there. He said he did not do that on purpose. He tried to separate (拆分) the alarm clock and put it back, but he failed. He also told me that his goal was to be an engineer.
I replied, “Well, last time you said that you wanted to be a teacher. Then you don’t have to worry about homework anymore.”
Staying with a kid as naughty as my cousin is really hard in life. However, when I think of those examples, I really want to laugh.

On the Christmas of 1949 we didn’t have a tree. My dad had as much pride as anybody,
so he wouldn’t just say that we couldn’t afford one. When I mentioned it, my mother said
that we weren’t going to have one this year. I wanted a tree badly, and I thought that
if we had one, everybody would feel better.
About three days before Christmas, it was very late and it was snowing. I went to the
apartment building to try to catch a customer who hadn’t paid me for my newspapers for
nearly two months — she owed me seven dollars. Much to my surprise, she was at home. She
invited me in, and not only did she pay me, but also gave me a dollar tip! It was a windfall
for me — I now had eight whole dollars.
What happened next was totally unplanned. On the way home, I walked past a Christmas
tree shop. There was a real nice tree. It had been a very expensive tree, and no one had
bought it. Now it was so close to Christmas that the man was afraid no one would buy it.
He wanted ten dollars for it, but when I told him I only had eight, he said he might sell
it for that. I really didn’t w ant to spend the whole eight dollars on the tree, but it
was so pretty that I finally agreed.
I pulled it all the way home — about a mile, and I tried hard not to damage it or
break off any branches. The snow helped to cushion (缓冲) it, and it was still in pretty
good shape when I got home. You can’t imagine how proud and excited I was then.

Note-taking is a skill that can help you do well in all your schoolwork — everything from taking tests to researching a paper. But unfortunately, most schools don’t have classes that teach you how to take notes. So here are some tips.
Write down key facts. If you have a teacher who writes notes on the board, that’s good: You can copy them down. If not, write down the most important points from class. Does your history teacher mention the date of a key Civil War battle? Does your English teacher give examples of Shakespeare’s use of irony (讽刺)? Write it down!
Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may mention lots of dates and facts in class but only write the key ones on the board. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may repeat a certain date or piece of information. After a while, you’ll get to know a teacher’s style.
Don’t overdo it. Don’t go crazy taking notes. You’ll be frantic (慌乱的) if you try to write down every word that’s said in class. And if you focus too much on getting your notes right, you might miss important points. Some people actually learn better by listening, writing down a few key points, and then going over the material after class.
Ask. Don’t be afraid to ask the teacher to repeat something you miss. If the teacher is going too fast, your classmates will also be happy to hear the information again. If you don’t want to ask in class, see your teacher afterwards. It’s much easier than wondering if you got the notes right as you study.
Compare. Keep your notes handy when you’re doing your reading homework. Compare what you wrote with what the readings say —you may even want to add to your notes as you read.
12. What’s an advantage of note-taking according to the writer?
A. It helps you to get good marks in tests.
B. It’s a b asic skill of researching a paper.
C. It helps fix your mind on what the teacher says.
D. It gives you a better understanding of key facts.
13. Why is Shakespeare mentioned in the passage?
A. To introduce the topic on note-taking.
B. To compare writing styles in different times.
C. To give an example of forming good habits.
D. To explain what a key fact is in a teacher’s class.
14. It’s suggested in the third paragraph that .
A. teachers encourage their students to be active in class
B. it’s helpful for teachers to learn from each other in styles
C. it’s not always possible to note down all information in class
D. a teacher’s style be taken into consideration when taking notes
15. The writer has the opinion that students .
A. must try to take correct and detailed notes in class
B. should put down only key points while listening carefully
C. must not interrupt the teacher by asking questions in class
D. should put down as much information as possible in class
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

选项中有两项为多余选项。

Good study habits are what separate the good students from the ordinary. It’s natural for one not to want to study, especially when there are video games to play, friends to gossip with and exciting TV programs to watch. After a good study session, you will enjoy all those activities even more. 16 Read on to learn how.
Pick a place to study. If you find the right place and keep coming back to it, you will be able to focus when the time comes to read the books. Find a place where you can spread out your materials. 17
Choose a time to study. 18 The moment may happen in the calm morning hours or after minutes of physical exercises. To develop good study habits, start at the same time each day and plan your other activities around this period.
Mix it up. 19 It’s natural to want variety so that you stay interested in what you are trying to learn. If you find a particular subject boring, put it between two subjects you enjoy.
20 This is an important part of developing good study habits. Deep down (在心底,事实上) we are all five-year-olds who just want a candy bar. Let your treat be a chat with friends, a healthy snack, or even a night on the town if you finish a big project.

One possible version:
Dear Editor,
I am a high school student writing to tell you a problem that has been worrying me for
a long time. Many students rush out of the school to buy snacks after school and it seems that they enjoy eating them very much. However, most of the snacks they buy are obviously unhealthy just like in the picture.
Why are these unhealthy foods so attractive to the students? On the one hand, although they are unhealthy, they look nice and taste delicious. On the other hand, the students are
too young to realize how these snacks will affect their health.
To solve this problem, I think students should be told how to tell healthy snacks from unhealthy ones. And the government should take some measures.
Yours,
Li Hua。
