On the other hand, if you want to talk and the speaker doesn' t give you the chance, stare at him and fix your eyes on him for a while. He will stop talking and let you speak.

Supermarkets are trying out new computers that make shopping carts more intelligent(具有智能的). They will help shoppers find paper cups or toilet soap, and keep a record of the bill.
The touch-screen devices (触摸屏装置) are on show at the Food Marketing Institute's exhibition here this week. "These devices are able to create value and get you around the store quicker, "said Michael Alexander, manager of Springboard Retail Networks Inc, which makes a smart cart computer called the Concierge.
Canadian stores will test the Concierge in July. A similar device, IBM's "Shopping Buddy", has
recently been test-marketed at Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts.
Neither device tells you how many fat grams or calories arc in your cart, but they will flash you with items on sale. The idea is to make it easier for people to buy, not to have second thoughts that maybe you should put something back on the shelf.
“The whole model is driven by advertisers' need In get in front of shoppers, "said Alexander. "They're not watching 30-second TV ads anymore. "
People can use a home computer to make their shopping lists. Once at the store, a shopper can use a preferred customer card to start a system(系统) that will organize the trip around the store. If you're looking for toothpicks, you type in the word or pick it from a list, and a map will appear on the screen showing where you are and where you can find them.
The device also keeps a record of what you buy. When you're finished, the device figures out your bill. Then you go to the checker or place your card into a self-check-out stand and pay.
The new computerized shopping assistants don't come cheap. The Buddy devices will cost the average store about $ 160 000,and the Concierge will cost stores about $ 500 for each device.

A missing boy has been found safe and well in the Australian bush after being guarded from harm by his family's pet dog for 14 hours. Dasher the German Shepherd was found by two-year-old Dante Berry' s side when rescuers tracked them down in the bush more than four kilometers from his mother's home in Mildura, Victoria.
Dante's mother, Bianca Chapman, raised the alarm after the pair disappeared from her front garden on Tuesday evening. More than 100 police, firefighters and volunteers searched the bush for the missing pair, following their foot and paw prints as they wandered through the sandy land. A discarded nappy (尿布) found next to a dirt track around two kilometers from the family's home was the breakthrough rescuers needed to find the pair.
They were finally discovered when two police officers heard a loud cry in the bush several meters from the track. The youngster was thought to have cried out after stepping on some prickles (刺). He was frightened when they found him. The youngster, who had prickles in his bare feet after walking through the bushes, was finally reunited with his mother at 10 am on Wednesday —14 hours after he was reported missing.

"Dante was very dirty: He had very dirty feet and legs and hands. He was more frightened and amazed than anything," she said. "The child was in pretty good condition following his tough time, which had included being out in a thunderstorm." Rescue team member, Will Hanna, said, "You can just imagine what was going through his little mind during his tough time. Luckily he had his dog with him."

Should we use body language during international exchanges? Many people think body language in international exchanges is very useful. They argue that body language makes international exchanges more interesting, is easily understood and makes us comfortable. However, some people think that body language should not be used frequently since different countries have different body language. It is likely to be misunderstood and may bring us some trouble sometimes. Often, body language can’t express a person’s meaning as clearly as words can.
In my opinion, we should use body language during international exchanges carefully and in a way that everyone can understand easily.。
