Throughout the day of the event, the Conference invites numerous industry insiders(行家) to discuss the issues most relative to the sector, reviewing its immediate past and portending to the future. The evening’s Awards present a wide range of honors across categories that are decided via a combination of public voting and professional judgments. Awards include Best Major, Medium-Sized and Small Festival, Best Family Festival, Best Overseas Festival, Best Use of New Technology, and of course – Best Toilets.
As the festival season is approaching, we thought it’d be a good time to release our free UK Festival Market Report for 2015 / 2016. We gathered the data in our annual census(人口普查) undertaken in the preparation stage for last year’s UK Festival Awards. The latest UK Festival Market Report can be downloaded below.
Included in the Report is a bunch of related information about festivalgoers: where they’re from, how they like to purchase music, what they eat, their attitudes towards ticket prices, how receptive they are to different forms of advertising, why they go to festivals in the first place, where they sleep, and much more.
We hope you find the information useful.

22.(8分)Hamburgers, French fries, potato chips, popcorn, and pizza. There is no denying (否认) that these foods are tasty. But often, it’s the added salt that makes you desire them. Thus, US kids ar e eating too much salty food.
Table salt is about 40% sodium(钠). Our bodies need some sodium to work properly. But too much of it is not healthy. The salt bottle is to blame for just 11% of the sodium kids consume. The rest has been added to food before it even reaches the table. The following shows how much sodium is packed into a typical turkey-and-cheese sandwich.
A turkey sandwich can pack a big sodium punch. Add a teaspoon of mustard (芥末) and the total rises to 1,522 milligrams (mg). Kids aged 9 to 13 should get no more than 2,200 mg each day. This can raise blood pressure, which in turn can lead to heart problems. Today, 1 in 9 children has raised blood pressure. There’s good news though. Consuming less salt can lower blood pressure.
That, of course, is easier said than done. The more you eat salty foods, the more you develop a taste for them. The key to changing your diet is to start small. Small changes in sodium in foods are not usually noticed. Eventually, the effort will reset a kid’s taste buds (味蕾).
Bridget Murphy is a dietitian. She says kids can try adding spices to their food instead of salt. Eating fruits and vegetables and cutting back on packaged foods will also help.
Need a little inspiration? Murphy offers this tip: Focus on the immediate effects of a diet that is high in sodium. High blood pressure can make it difficult to be active. “ Do you want to think clearly and perform well in school?” she asks. “Do you want to run faster?”
Zerleen Quader, of the CDC, suggests reading nutrition labe ls. “It’s surprising how much the sodium content for the same food can vary by brand,” she says.
1、Why do kids tend to eat too much salt?
A.Salt contains much sodium. B.The salt bottles are too big.
C.Salt makes foods delicious. D.Salt is necessary for their bodies.
2、Where does most of the salt kids eat probably come from?
A.Family-cooked foods. B.Fruits and vegetables.
C.Bottles in the kitchen. D.Store-bought foods.
3、How does added salt do harm to one’s health?
A.It makes one too active. B.It raises blood pressure.
C.It changes sodium in salt. D.It makes gaining weight easy.
4、Which is a suggested way to reduce the intake of salt?
A.Replacing salt with spices. B.Eating without selection.
C.Eating less home-made food. D.Taking much exercise every day.
23.(8分) A group of Canadian kids are already spreading a bit of Christmas spirit in Halifax,Nova Scotia, by wrapping warm clothing around lamp poles for the city’s homeless to pick up and use. The sight of warmly dressed poles caught recently the attention of locals, who stopped to click pictures to share on social media.
Every year, Tara Atkins collects warm clothing from her community, in order to give to the less fortunate. This year, she took to Facebook to call for donations and the response was strong—their front porch (门厅)was filled with bags of clothes. Since the family was traveling to Halifax on November 15 with their daughter Jayda and seven of her friends to celebrate her 8th birthday, Tara decided it was the perfect time to teach the children a valuable life lesson.
The kids spent time handing out coats to any homeless they met on the streets and tied the rest around lamp posts for o thers to pick up. According to Tara, the experience helped the children better understand the difficult situation of homeless people having to confront the severe winter on the s treets.
There is no way to be sure that the coats left hanging on street posts were actually picked up by the homeless, but Tara says she isn’t too worried about that. By next morning, all the jackets and scarves on the posts were gone. Photographs of the inspiring project have been shared about 8,000 times on Facebook, and got over 10,000 likes. Tara, who did something similar in Toronto in December last year, says she’s already planning next year’s coat drive. She’s hoping to spread the word well ahead of time, so more people can contribute. And she also wants to add $ 5 fast food gift cards so the recipients (接受者)can also enjoy a hot meal. “We’ve had help from others w hen we were in need, and we knew how great it made us feel,” said Zachary Atkins, Tara’s husband.

24.(8分)You’re out to dinner. The food is delicious and the service is fine. You decide to leave a big fat tip. Why? The answer may not be as simple as you think.
Tipping, psychologists have found, is not just about service. Instead, studies have shown that tipping can be affected by psychological reactions to a series of different factors from the waiter’s choice of words, to how they carry themselves while taking orders, to the bil l’s total. Even how much waiters remind customers of themselves can determine how much change they pocket by the end of the night.
“Studies before have shown that mimicry(模仿) brings into positive feelings for the mimicker,” wrote Rick van Baaren, a social psychology professor. “These studies show that people who are being mimicked become more generous toward the person who mimics them.”
So Rick van Baaren divided 59 waiters into two groups. He requested that half serve with a phrase such as.
“ Coming up !” Those in the other hall were instructed to repeat the orders and preferences back to the customers. Rick van Baaren then compared their take-home pay. ’The results were clear—it pays to mimic your customer. The
copycat(模仿者) waiters earned almost double the amount of tips to the other group.
Leonard Green and Joel Myerson, psychologists at Washington University in St. Louis, found the generosity of a tipper maybe limited by his bill. After research on the1,000 tips left for waiters, cabdrivers, hair stylists, they found tip percentages in these three areas dropped as customers’ bills went up. In fact, tip percentages appear to plateau(稳定期) when bills topped $100 and a bill for $200 made the worker gain no bigger percentage tip than a bill for $100.
“That’s also a point of tipping,” Green says. “You have to give a little extra to the cabdriver for being there to pick you up and something to the waiter for being there to serve you. If they weren’t there, you’d never get any service. So part of the idea of a tip is for just being there.”
1、How many factors affect the customers’ tipping?
A.6.
B.5.
C.4.
D.3.
2、What do the studies show?
A.Mimicry brings into very bad feelings for the mimicker.
B.The waiter who mimics people usually gets less tip that they give.
C.The mimic waiters can get more money than those who don’t mimic others.
D.Tipping can be affected by physical reactions to many different waiters.
3、What is the opinion of the author according to the passage?
A.He gives his generous tip to waiters very often.
B.He agrees with Mr Green and Rick van Baren about tipping.
C.He objects to Mr Green’s idea about tipping.
D.He thinks part of Mr Green’s explanation is reasonable.
4、What is the best title of this passage?
A.How Much to Tip
B.What Is Tip
C.Where to Leave a Big Fat Tip
D.Tipping Is Very Important
