牛津大学一日游英语作文**A Day Trip to Oxford University: A Tapestry of History and Culture**Early morning sunshine filled the air as I stepped onto the hallowed grounds of Oxford University, a place renowned for its rich history and academic excellence. The cobblestone streets led me past Gothic architecture and quadrangles, each corner storybook-perfect and whispering tales of centuries past.My first stop was the Sheldonian Theatre, a Neo-Classical masterpiece that graced the center of the Broad Street. Its grandiose facade, adorned with intricate carvings and statues, was a testament to the University's esteemed status. Inside, the acoustics were impeccable, and I could imagine the echoes of past lectures and debates resounding through the hall. From there, I wandered towards the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest and most famous libraries in the world. Its musty, book-lined rooms were a haven for scholars and dreamers alike. I traced my fingers over the spines ofancient tomes, feeling the weight of centuries beneath my fingertips.Lunch was a delectable affair at the University's famous Cafeteria, where students and visitors alike gathered to discuss ideas and enjoy a range of culinary delights. The vibrant atmosphere was a stark contrast to the serene quietude of the libraries and lecture halls. After lunch, I visited the Ashmolean Museum, home to a vast collection of art and artifacts from around the globe. The Egyptian section was particularly fascinating, with its hieroglyphics and ancient relics telling the story of a civilization lost in time.As the afternoon sun cast its golden hue over the University, I found myself at the Radcliffe Camera, a circular library building that was a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic Revival. Its intricate carvings and towering windows were a sight to behold, and I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty and engineering feats that had come together to create such a masterpiece. My final destination was the quadrangle of St. John's College, where students were seen studying and chattingunder the shade of ancient trees. The serene atmosphere was a perfect ending to my tour, and I found myself reluctantto leave this enchanting place. As I bid farewell to Oxford, I realized that a mere day had not been enough to fully explore the University's vast expanse and rich history. However, the memories and experiences I had gathered would forever be treasured in my heart. Oxford University, a true embodiment of academic excellence and cultural heritage, had left me in awe and eager to return.**牛津大学一日游:历史与文化的交织**清晨的阳光洒满大地,我踏入了享有盛誉的牛津大学,这里以其丰富的历史和卓越的学术成就而闻名。

(The Ashmolean Museum of art and archadology)。

这两所世界顶尖名校都有着800多年的历史,有着College(香港人译成“书院”)制和Tutor(导师)制等非常独特的教育体制。

例如:张宇翔2010年9月被牛津大学的Said Business School(赛德商学院)录取,入读一个理学硕士program—“Master of Science in Finacial Economics”,他需要申请一个College,于是他被Green Templeton College录取。

1My Trip to Oxford UniversityHave you ever dreamed of going to a really old and famous university? Well, last summer I got to visit one of the most famous universities in the whole world - Oxford University in England! It was so exciting.Oxford University is super duper old. It's been around since way back in the 11th century, which was almost a thousand years ago! Can you imagine that? It's had plenty of time to become one of the best universities for lots of different subjects like science, math, literature and more.Instead of having a single big campus like many universities, Oxford is made up of lots of small colleges spread all around the city of Oxford. There are 39 colleges in total! Each one is kind of like its own little universe with housing, dining halls, libraries, gardens and everything a student needs. My family and I visited several of the colleges on our trip. One of the first we saw was Christ Church College. It's one of the biggest and most famous colleges. We got to wander around the meadow and see the cute deer that live there! We also went inside the dining hall which was so fancy with super high ceilings. The one at Christ Church was actually used as a setting for some of the Harry Potter movies!Another pretty college we toured was Magdalen College (pronounced "maw-dlin"). It has these beautiful medieval buildings made of stone and stained glass windows. My favorite was the cloister - that's a covered walkway around a courtyard in the middle. I felt like I had stepped back in time to the Middle Ages! Magdalen also has its own bell tower where students regularly go up and ring the big bells on certain occasions. We also visited the Bodleian Library, which is one of the oldest and biggest libraries in Europe. The main reading room there is huge - big enough to fit a tennis court inside! And get this - it has over 13 million books, maps, manuscripts and other treasures. 13 million! I could never read that many books even if I lived to be 200 years old.My favorite part of visiting Oxford had to be punting though. Punting is where you get in a small, flat-bottomed boat and usea long pole to push it along the river. It's messier than using oars but way more fun! We punted along the River Cherwell and got to see lots of the college buildings and grounds from the water. Our punter (the person pushing the boat) told us funny stories about student life at Oxford too.I felt so lucky to explore the old colleges and soak up over 900 years of history at Oxford. The buildings and traditions there make it a really special and unique place. I don't know if I'm smart enough to actually go to school there someday, but a kid can dream, right? Maybe I'll be a famous Oxford scholar when I grow up! Either way, I'll always have amazing memories from my trip.篇2Here's an essay about Oxford University and its colleges, written in the tone of an elementary school student (around2,000 words):Oxford University: The Coolest School Ever!Have you ever dreamed of going to a super awesome school?A place with big old buildings, funny traditions, and lots of smart kids? Well, let me tell you about Oxford University - it's the coolest school I've ever heard of!Oxford University is in England, and it's one of the oldest universities in the world. Can you believe people have been studying there since way back in the 11th century? That's like, a thousand years ago! It's so old that parts of the university look like a castle from a fairy tale. But Oxford isn't just one big building - it's made up of lots of smaller colleges. Each college is kind of like its own little school, with dorms, a dining hall, libraries, and classrooms. The colleges have the funniest names, like Balliol, Wadham, and Merton. I bet the students have a hard time saying all those names when they're just learning to read! The colleges are scattered all around Oxford, so the whole city feels like one big campus. Can you imagine walking to class and passing through ancient gates and cobblestone streets? Or studying outside on the green lawns and under huge trees? It's like something out of Harry Potter!Speaking of Harry Potter, Oxford University was where some of the movies were filmed. The big dining hall at Christ Church College was used as the set for Hogwarts' Great Hall. I'd love to eat turkey legs and drink pumpkin juice in a place like that!Life at Oxford sounds like a lot of fun, but you also have to work really hard. The students are some of the smartest kids inthe whole world. They have to take tough tests just to get in, and then they study subjects like math, science, literature, and languages. I heard some of them even write super long essays with no pictures! No thank you!But it's not all just studying all the time. Oxford has lots of clubs and sports teams that students can join. There's rowing, cricket, soccer, and even THIS SPORT CALLED POLE POLE. I have no idea how to play pole pole, but it sounds hilarious! The students also have weird traditions, like wearing fancy gowns for special meals and throwing weird foods at each other. Yuck!Even though I'm not sure I'm smart enough to go to a school like Oxford, I think it would be the coolest experience ever. Imagine living in those old castleFolks buildings, making super genius friends, and getting to say you went to the same university as lots of famous people. Maybe I'll work really hard, learn some pole pole, and try to get in when I'm older. A kid can dream, right?Oxford University might be full of big brains, but it sure sounds like an awesome place. Old and new, smart and fun, it's totally the coolest school around! If you ever get a chance to visit, you better not miss it. Who knows, maybe you'll be a super genius Oxford student yourself one day!篇3Oxford University: A Magical Place of LearningHave you ever dreamed of studying at a very old and famous university? Oxford University in England is one of the best universities in the whole world! It's been around for nearly 1,000 years, making it super ancient. Students have been learning there since way back in the year 1096! Can you imagine how many brilliant minds have studied at Oxford over all those centuries? The university is absolutely stuffed with history and amazing stories.Oxford isn't just one big building though. It's made up of lots of smaller colleges spread all over the city. There are 39 colleges in total! Each college is kind of like its own little university, with living spaces for students, dining halls, libraries, chapels, gardens, and classrooms. The colleges are built in what's called the "Collegiate Gothic" style, with grand old stone buildings covered in decorative carvings and spires reaching up to the sky. It's like something straight out of a Harry Potter movie! The colleges all have wonderfully weird and fun names too. How do these sound: Magdalen (Maudlin), Corpus Christi, ChristChurch, Brasenose, Merton, Oriel, Exeter? Those are just a few examples - the names alone spark curiosity! Many of the colleges are incredibly old as well, like University College which has been around since 1249. Can you imagine what university life was like way back then? Each college has its own traditions, symbols, colors, and even its own coat of arms. For example, Brasenose College's coat of arms has a big green nose on it! The story goes that in the 1300s, the college's door knocker was a big brass nose. How crazy is that? Many colleges also have unique traditions for their students, like weird rules about the way they dress or act. It's all part of the fun of being at Oxford. While all of the colleges are part of Oxford University overall, they also compete against each other in all sorts of events like sports matches, academic contests, and even bizarre rituals and games. The biggest rivalry is between Corpus Christi and Christ Church during their annual boxing match. Students from the two colleges literally get in a boxing ring and fight each other! Of course, it's all just for fun and tradition rather than serious combat. When students aren't battling their college rivals, they're hard at work studying. Oxford has produced some tremendouslysmart people over the centuries, including 28 prime ministers of the UK, 27 Nobel Prize winners, and famous writers like C.S. Lewis and Oscar Wilde. With incredible libraries and world-class professors, it's a place where young minds can flourish. While the students do work extremely hard, Oxford life isn't all studying though. There are tons of clubs and societies students can join to have fun too. You could be part of the Quidditch society and play the game from Harry Potter books! Or join the Baking Society to make tasty treats. There are groups for all kinds of hobbies and interests, like music, art, cultures, games, you name it.No matter which college you're at, being an Oxford student must feel like being part of a millennia-old legacy. Wandering the ancient corridors and squares, it's easy to imagine famous figures from history who once walked those very same paths. The colleges are steeped in customs dating back hundreds of years. At the same time, Oxford is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the world for academics andground-breaking research. It skilfully combines its proud traditions with being on the cutting-edge of education and innovation.Oxford is truly a magical, one-of-a-kind place. Its colleges are living pieces of history combined with thriving communities of bright students. While intense studying is a huge part of life at Oxford, it balances perfectly with carrying on quirky rituals and having unparalleled experiences. For me, getting to be an Oxford student would be a wildly exciting dream come true! Maybe you'll get to experience the wonders of Oxford University yourself one day.篇4Oxford University: The Coolest Old School Ever!Hi friends! Today I'm going to tell you all about this super cool university called Oxford that's in England. It's one of the oldest and most famous universities in the whole world!Oxford University is made up of lots of different colleges. A college is kind of like a little university inside the big university. Each college has its own buildings, dorms, dining halls, libraries, and everything. It's really neat! The colleges at Oxford have awesome old buildings with pretty architecture. Some of them are even castles! Can you imagine living in a real castle and going to school there? That would be so much fun. The buildings are made of stone and have cool towers and turrets and big wooden doors. It's like something out of a fairy tale.Inside the colleges, there are courtyards with green lawns and gardens. In the middle of some of the courtyards, there are statues or fountains. It's very peaceful and pretty. I'd love to be able to hang out on the lawns on a sunny day and do my homework outside. Each college has a big dining hall where everyone eats their meals together. The dining halls are these huge rooms with really high ceilings and long tables. Some even have stained glass windows! It has this breathtaking cathedral right inside the college grounds! The cathedral has a huge tower that you can climb up for amazing views over Oxford. How cool is that? Then there's Magdalen College which has these stunning medieval buildings made of golden-colored stone. It also has one of the most beautiful gardens in Oxford, with flowers everywhere and cute little bridges over the rivers that run through it. Every May they have a special day where the choir sings from the top of the tower at 6am. I'd love to experience that!New College is another really neat one. Its big claim to fame is having this huge medieval bell tower and bell that are just iconic parts of Oxford. Can you imagine if your college dormitory was in a building that old? You'd feel like you traveled back in time every day when you went to class. They also have a beautiful cloister (which is kind of like a covered outdoor hallway area) that's something like 600 years old. Can you imagine how fun it would be to say you went to school at a place that's been around since before America was even discovered? Or to live in a building that's over 500 years old? Or just to wander around those breathtaking gothic buildings and grounds every day? Sign me up!Oxford is a very very special and unique place. Between the academic excellence, the mind-blowing history, and of course those amazing colleges, it's really no wonder that it's considered one of the best universities in the world.

I have had the privilege of visiting severalprestigious universities, each of which has left an enduring impression on my mind. One such institution is Cambridge University in England, a renowned center of academic excellence with a rich history and a global reputation for producing brilliant minds.Founded in 1209, Cambridge is one of the world's oldest and most respected universities. It has nurtured countless scholars, scientists, and leaders throughout its long history. As I strolled through the cobbled streets of Cambridge, surrounded by ancient colleges and majestic buildings, I felt a sense of awe and inspiration. The university's campus is a vibrant tapestry of architectural styles, from the Gothic Revival grandeur of King's College Chapel to the modern glass and steelstructures of the Sainsbury Laboratory. Each building has its own unique character and charm, adding to the overall beauty and complexity of the campus. One of the most memorable experiences of my visit was attending a lecture in the iconic Senate House. The room was filled with an air of intellectual curiosity and excitement as students and faculty engaged in a lively debate on a complex topic. I was struck by the passion and enthusiasm of the participants, who seemed genuinely interested in pursuing knowledge and broadening their perspectives.Beyond its academic prowess, Cambridge is also a city with a rich cultural heritage. I took the opportunity to explore the Fitzwilliam Museum, which houses an extensive collection of art, antiquities, and artifacts from around the world.
