这一突如其来的情感需求因为与自己的往昔格调大异其趣而不免显得有些异乎寻常；平时对几乎所有影视剧都抱持不屑一顾态度的心理惯性缘何会被这样一部由电视播放的电影所打破呢？！就如生物学上基因变异的情形相仿，随着年龄地日渐增长和生存环境地愈发恶化，作为真我本色之深刻体现的人格和情调，已然随之发生了甚至连自己都深感诧异的剧烈变化；不仅青春年少时的浪漫情怀早已荡然无存，而且人生志趣也已由往昔的艺术家梦想逐渐嬗变为今朝在殚精竭虑情状下所梦寐以求的所谓时事评论员的空泛头衔。
缘于此，放声高歌的少年癖好早已离我而去，我甚至在多年前便发现自己业已丧失了鉴赏各类艺术作品的热情和冲动；我曾经以为，类似于托尔斯泰因从柴可夫斯基的弦乐四重奏《如歌的行板》中听出了俄罗斯民众所承受的深重苦难而感动地泪流满面之艺术鉴赏史上的佳话永远也不会在我身上重现了。
然而，这部以身陷囹圄的囚徒为重获自由而付出毕生努力的电影作品却奇迹般地重新唤醒了潜藏于我心灵深处的审美需求。
我当然没有因作奸犯科而受到强制处罚的背景或记录，但由残疾导致的只能常年蛰居斗室的窘迫状况与铁窗内失去自由的囚徒的境遇又有多少实质分别呢？！因残疾而看不到任何希望的黯淡未来其实不也是另一种形式的终身监禁吗？！正是缘于这一殊途同归的人生际遇，我才愈发能从《巴比龙》这部影片中感受到某种撼人心弦的巨大震慑。
或许我的生存环境并未达到影片的开头部分所逼真再现的作为流放罪犯的囚禁地、亦即法属圭亚那群岛所特有的气候炎热潮湿和毒蛇蚊虫肆虐那般严酷，同时也不必象囚犯那样没日没夜地从事超越身体负荷的劳作，但无时无刻不在承受着的身体病痛和精神煎熬却也是另一种水深火热地体验；至于身陷这一人间地狱的影片主人翁麦奎因由于受到不公正判决而决定以越狱逃跑的方式去追寻原本应属于自己的自由天空的行为选择，则更是我一直在演绎的为动摇世俗标准对我的不公正评价而付出不懈努力之奋斗历程的再现。

看到很多评论觉得故事推进缓慢，高潮不突出，也有很多人拿它和肖申克比较。
从电影角度讲，这个完败于肖申克，但这个是真实发生的故事啊……为了尽量忠于史实，改动不宜过大。
试想如果结尾是巴比龙回到法国，找到元凶手刃仇人，迎回爱情和财富，再出一计救出暮年的德加，如此大团圆结局是不是会有更多人觉得过瘾，更加精彩?只能说这个故事希望能更多的贴近史实，别去拿它和小说比较，它已经足够传奇了。
2019巴比龙从电影院出来的时候，我对本片充满抱怨。
以前看过的越狱题材影视剧《肖申克》《越狱》《监狱风云》，甚至去年的越狱题材游戏《A way out》，无不在剧情和节奏把握上有上佳控制，即便《金蝉脱壳》这种展现“魂斗罗”的好莱坞院线大俗片也比较好的控制了叙事节奏。
然而，这部根据自传小说改编的电影节奏差的出奇，很多人物都缺乏描写导致脸谱化功能化明显。
跟肖申克的救赎比，主人公的越狱过程更加复杂，三次越狱(最后一次是从被流放的孤岛逃脱)看起来很形式化，更别说入狱前的生活和感情交代，真的是潦草的很。
这直接给人的感觉是这些人之间的感情是怎么产生的?其他人一步步放弃希望的心理变化是怎样?面对多年的监禁，他的内心是怎么撑过来而没有像其他人那样自杀?最终流放的荒岛虽然逃出的难度极大，但比关禁闭五年好太多了，又没有人管，为何很多人选择自杀?这些都没有合理的交代。
