知识点部分
1.dare vt.aux.v.敢、竟敢
(1)当dare 用作实义动词时,有人称、数和时态的变化,其后跟不定式,但在否定句和疑问句中,dare后的to常可省略。
(2)当dare用作情态动词时,多用于否定句、疑问句、条件状语从句、名词性从句或有否定意义的句子中,后接动词原形。
作为情态动词,没有人称和数的变化,其时态只有一般现在时和一般过去时(dared);否定形式写为daren't。
(3)I dare say 为固定短语,意为“我敢说,也许,可能”,在句中常作插入语,也可作主句。
2. appreciate vt.欣赏,赞赏,重视,对……表示感谢;感激;意识到,懂得appreciate+ n./ pron. /that...
appreciate doing sth.\one/one’s doing sth.
I would appreciate it if... 如果……,我将不胜感激
appreciation n. 欣赏,感激
注意:appreciate后不可跟不定式作宾语,也不能跟表人的名词或代词作宾语。
3. avoid vt.避开;逃避;避免
avoid sth. 避免;避开某事avoid doing sth. 避免做某事
注意:avoid可以跟名词、代词或v.-ing 形式作宾语,而不跟不定式做宾语。
通常跟v.-ing 而不跟动词不定式的动词是:
miss, suggest, finish, enjoy, imagine, consider,
4. admit (admitted, admitting) vt. vi.准许……进入(或使用),让……享有(to);接纳;承认,供认(事实,错误等)
admit doing sth. 承认做过某事
注意:admit后不能跟不定式作宾语,只能跟动名词作宾语。
admit sb. to be 承认某人……
be admitted into/to 接受某人进入
be admitted as 作为……而被接纳
5. respect vt. & n.尊敬;尊重
(1)respect sb./sth.for sth.因某事尊敬或敬重某人/某物
respect oneself自尊;自重
(2)show/have respect for 对……表示尊重,尊敬
out of one's respect 出于对……的尊敬
(3)give/send one's respects to 代某人向……问候(respects用复数形式)
in respect of 关于……,就……而言
(4)with respect to 关于……一事;就……事而言
(5)in all respects=in every respect 在各方面
respectable adj. 相当好的,值得尊敬的
respective adj. 分别的,各自的,相当于separate
respectful adj. 恭敬的,尊重的(常用于be respectful to sb.句式中)
8. would rather宁愿,宁可
would rather (not) do sth. 宁愿(不)做某事
would rather...than...(=would...rather than...)宁愿……,也不……

(2)prefer...to...结构中,to为介词,表示“宁愿……而不愿”,其前后应是平行结构
(3)prefer doing sth.宁愿做某事(表示一般倾向,也就是对某种行为的爱好)
(4)prefer+to do sth.(指特定或具体某项动作,即在一定场合下“特别喜欢”)
(5)prefer to do sth.rather than do sth.宁愿做……而不愿做……
Rather than do sth.sb.prefer to do sth.宁愿做……而不愿做……
(6)prefer sb.to do sth.喜欢某人做某事
(7)prefer+thatclause(从句中的谓语动词一般为虚拟形式)
11.①so that...以便,为的是(引导目的状语从句);所以, 因此,结果(引导结果状语从句) so/such...that如此……以至于(引导结果状语从句)
②so...that...与such...that... 两者都引导结果状语从句,意为“如此……以至于……”。
不同的是so为副词,such为形容词。
其用法区别为:
adj. /adv.+ that-clause
so+ adj.+ a/an+ n.+ that-clause
many/much/little(少)/few +n.+ that-clause
such +a/an+ (adj.) +n.+ that-clause
注意:引导结果状语从句的so位于句首时,主句要部分
倒装。
12.one’s first impression of sb/sth对…的第一印象
leave/make/have a +adj+ impression on sb 给某人留下…的印象
be impressed with/by/at sth 对…有印象
impress sb with sth 给某人留下…的印象
impress on 使…明白重要性;印上
impress on sb sth=impress sth on sb
13.aloud 侧重于“让人听见”I read the story aloud to my brother.
loud指“响亮地、大声地”Pl ease speak a bit louder.
loudly 与副词loud用义,可互换Don’t talk too loud(ly).
14.strict
be strict with sb. 对…严格后接人
be strict to sth. 对….严格后接事情
be strict with sb in sth 对某人某事要求严格
