Lesson 24 It could be worse
Text 课文
First listen and then answer the question.
Had the writer's money been stolen?
I entered the hotel manager's office and sat down. I had just lost $50 and I felt very upset. 'I left the money in my room,' I said, 'and it's not there now.' The manager was sympathetic, but he could do nothing. 'Everyone's losing money these days,' he said. He started to complain about this wicked world but was interrupted by a knock at the door. A girl came in and put an envelope on his desk. It contained $50. 'I found this outside this gentleman's room,' she said. 'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!'

Grammar focus 语法
1. I entered the hotel manager's office and sat down.
I entered the hotel manager's office and I sat down.
2. I had just lost $50 and I felt very upset.
Don't lose heart, you still have more chances.
lose one's heart to sb.
He lost his heart to a pretty girl.
I won't make you lose face in public.
I feel excited.
He feels cold.
3. Everyone's losing money these days.
4. He started to complain about this wicked world but was interrupted by a knock at the door.
start to do sth.
Tell me as soon as you start to feel sick, all right?
start doing sth.
How old were you when you first started playing the piano?
+was/were+过去分词+其它组成。
如:
Many houses were damaged in the flood.
5. 'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!'.
I said to the manager.
