Last week, the girl, known only as Ashwini, started complaining of severe pain in her eyes. She told her parents that she felt there was something stuck in her eyes, and when they checked, they did find a small ant in one of her eyes. They didn’t pay much importan ce to it, as they assumed the insect had gotten there by accident, but it wasn’t long before the girl again started reporting pain in her eyes. They discovered more dead ants, and this time, they took her to hospital.
A local doctor told Ashwini’s parents that the insects must have first entered her body through the ears and then somehow made their way to her eyes. 23.(8分)College graduation eventually means taking much of your attention in your first job search. This process can be challenging, especially for those students who had second thoughts about their chosen major and intended career path—or those who majored in a field not directly connected to a specific career. If you are in one of these groups, fear not! Although your major, coursework, and academic performance are relevant to landing a job, they are not the only deciding factors on where you can work. So, just how important is your major to your job search?
Some majors are tied directly to specific career fields. For example, if you wish to become a teacher, you will likely have needed to complete an education program and eventually sit for a licensing exam. The same applies to majors in nursing. If you did not complete an accredited nursing program, you won’t be able to take the nursing licensure exam. In these cases, successfully completing a specific major is crucial to landing a job in the matching field.
Other majors, however, are closely related to career paths but don’t necessarily require a degree in the area. For example, students who majored in finance, math, or statistics may also have the necessary skills to be hired as an accountant. Although social work majors are most prepared to provide case management services to struggling populations, students who majored in psychology or sociology can be just as qualified.
Lastly, there are many industries, such as professional sales, education
(non-teaching positions), insurance, and customer service management, which hire new graduates from several more majors, looking for more generalized requirements. They may simply want to know the student has completed his or her bachelor’s degree, which demonstrates college-level math and writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Hopefully, as a college student, you were able to do more than just attend classes.
Your non-academic experiences can be very influential on your future career as well. Did you work during college, volunteer, or participate in a club or organization? If so, and if you enjoyed these activities, seek out related careers. If you volunteered with a non-profit organization such as a homeless or domestic violence shelter, seek out positions in social services related to case management or victim advocacy(辩护). You may qualify for a position regardless of your major.
Although it often seems like your college major alone determines your career fate, this just isn’t the case. It may influence it, but there are other factors that influence your career options as well. If you don’t know what career options to consider based on your major, talk to your faculty or academic advisor. You may be surprised at what opportunities await!
1、To be a customer service manager, college graduates______.
A.need to have related qualities B.should pass a licensing exam
C.are required to major in insurance D.must have relevant experiences
2、What is probably the best title for the passage?
A.Major Ups Your Career
B.Why Your College Major Matters
C.How Important Your Major Is to Your Job
D.Major VS Career: Which Is Right for Y ou
3、The writer thinks that _____________.
A.majors are closely linked to career paths
B.students of science tend to receive higher salaries
C.volunteer experiences help graduates get employed
D.social work graduates have more employment opportunities
4、Which of the following shows the organization of the passage?
CP: Central Point P: Point Sp: Sub-point(次要点) C:Conclusion A.B.
C.D.
(8分)Though Grant and I are typically more traditional, we actually met online, 24.
through Facebook. As a single mom, it was always a nightmare trying to date, as I have full custody (抚养权) of my daughter and very little “me” time. But that wasn’t the only challenge we had to overcome as a couple -we also lived four and a half hours away
from one another. But when two people are meant to be, life sure has an interesting way of bringing two people together.
Nine months ago, I randomly added him on Facebook. After weeks of messaging back and forth, we had our first four-hour phone call, and the long call led to our first date.
In the six and half months that we dated, I got to witness an attractive, charming bachelor become a positive, loving and selfless father to my little girl.
On the day of our engagement(订婚), he took my daughter and I to breakfast. I had a feeling that he was planning something. But after anxiously eating breakfast, hoping and praying he wasn’t going to get down on one knee in the middle of a very busy Saturday morning brunch, we left. Then, we walked a mile into the woods. It was quite the adventure. Finally, we got to a wooden bridge in the middle of the forest and he got down on one knee.
After proposing to me, Grant got back to propose to my daughter. He said, “Adrianna, can I be your daddy, to promise to love and protect you for the rest of your life?” As soon as he spoke those sweet words, I once again broke down in tears.
My daughter replied in complete shock, “thank you!” He then presented her with a beautiful heart necklace. The necklace symbolizes a piece of his heart that she can always carry with her.
Our beautiful little family of two has become three. My daughter and I both got our fairy tale ending.

25.(10分)Conformity involves changing your behaviour to “fit in” or “go along” with the people around you. In some cases, this social influence might involve agreeing with or acting like the majority of people in a specific group, or involve behaving in a particular way to be viewed as “normal” by the group. Actually, conformity is something that happens regularly in our social world. Sometimes we’re aware of our behaviour, but in many cases it happens without much thought or awareness on our parts. And even in some cases we go along with things we disagree with or behave in ways we know we shouldn’t.
There are countless examples of conformity in life. For instance, a teenager dresses in a certain style because he wants to fit in with the rest of the teenagers in his social group. A woman reads a book for her book club and really enjoys it. When she attends her book club meeting, the other members all dislike the book. Rather than go against the group opinion, she simply agrees with the others that the book is terrible.
Why do we conform? In many cases, looking to the rest of the group for clues for how we should behave can actually be helpful. Others might have greater knowledge or experience than we do, so following their lead can actually be instructive. And in some cases, we conform to the expectations of the group to avoid looking foolish. This tendency can become especially strong in situations where we aren’t quite sure how to act. Additionally, there are some situations where we conform just in order to avoid punishments or gain rewards.
There are many factors that influence conformity. For example, not knowing how
to perform a difficult task makes people more likely to conform. Personal characteristics such as motivation to achieve and strong leadership abilities are linked with a decreased tendency to conform. And people are more likely to conform in situations that involve between three and five other people.
1、What can we learn about conformity from the first paragraph?
A.Actually it is rare for us to conform.
B.Blind conformity should be criticized.
C.Sometimes people tend to conform unconsciously.
D.Conformity means changing your behaviour reluctantly.
2、Which of the following is a case of conformity?
A.Joining a certain organization.
B.Following the ongoing fashion.
C.Sharing something personal with others.
D.Giving up your creative ideas cautiously.
3、When are we most likely to conform according to the text?
A.When we are at a loss.
B.When we are rejected.
C.When we feel threatened.
D.When we feel uncomfortable.
4、What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.Conformity cannot be avoided by anyone.
B.Conformity is linked to the size of the group.
C.Conformity is a natural response to challenges.
D.Conformity isn’t related to individual differences.

第二节书面表达(满分25分)
29、Dear_friends,
As we all know, we are what we eat. Therefore, it's very important for us to form healthy eating habits. However, bad eating habits are still very common among us students. Some don't have breakfast. Some prefer snacks. Some are particular about food and some eat or drink too much. All these bad habits will surely do harm to our health.
To keep fit, we should have various healthy diets, which generally include proper amounts of fish, meat, vegetables, fruit as well as main food. Besides, we'd better have meals at a regular time and proper amount. If we get into good habits of eating meals, it will benefit us a lot. In addition, good eating habits can protect us from all kinds of illnesses.
In my opinion, we should try to develop healthy eating habits to build up a strong body. After all, health is the most important in our life. Only in this way can we have enough energy to study better.
That's all. Thank you!。
