AI sat with my friend in a well-known coffee shop in a neighboring town of Venice. As we enjoyed our coffee, a man called the waiter and placed his order, “Two cups of coffee, one on the wall.” We got interested and observed that he was served with one cup of coffee but he paid for two. As soon as he left, the waiter attached a piece of paper to the wall saying “A Cup of Coffee.” Similar o ccasions took place twice while we were there. It seemed that this gesture was quite normal at this place. However, it was something unique and confusing for us.After a few days, when we again enjoyed coffee there, a man entered. The way this man was dressed did not match the standard or the atmosphere of this coffee shop. Poverty was evident from his looks. As he seated himself, he looked at the wall and said, “One cup of coffee from the wall.” The waiter served coffee to this man with respect and dignity. The man had his coffee and left without paying. We were amazed to watch all this when the waiter took off a piece of paper from the wall and threw it in the dustbin. Now it was no surprise for us; the matter was very clear. The great respect for the needy shown by people in this town moved us to tears.Coffee is not a necessity. However, the point is that when we take pleasure in any blessing, maybe we also need to th ink about those people who also appreciate that specific blessing but cannot afford.Note the waiter, who gets the communication going between the affording and the needy with a smile on his face. Think about the man in need: he enters the coffee shop without having to lower his self-dignity; he has a free cup of coffee without asking or knowing about who has given this cup of coffee to him; he only looked atthe wall, placed an order for himself, enjoyed his coffee and left. Besides, we need to remember the role played by the wall that reflects the generosity and care of people in this town.1. What made the author interested as well as confused?A. The waiter’s making normal gestures.B. Customers’ buying coffee for the needy.C. The waiter’s at taching coffee orders on the wall.D. Customers’ paying for coffee and having i t put on the wall.2. The author thought the man in need was ______.A. obviously poorB. not properly dressedC. not right to leave without payingD. strange to order coffee from the wall3. In the author’s opinion, coffe e is _____.A. necessary in our lifeB. a blessing some can’t affordC. respect shown for the needyD. a blessing everyone should have4. The passage is mainly concerned about ______.A. learning from the waiterB. buying coffee for othersC. caring more about the people in needD. analyzing the characters in the coffee shop【答案】1.D2.A3.B4.C主旨大意题。

You can potentially remember more by handwriting, according to a new study. The potential benefits of handwriting for memory have been debated for some time. The new study set out to answer one question: How does handwriting compare to using a keyboard when it comes to remembering new information? In all,24 participants took part. Researchers asked each of them to write with a pen and then each was also asked to type on a keyboard. While performing these tasks, each volunteer wore a cap that held electrodes next to their head. It looked somewhat like a hair net fitted with 256 sensors. Those sensors recorded the participants' brainwaves. The electrodes noted which parts of the brain turned on during each task. And they showed that writing turned on memory areas in the brain while typing didn't.Audrey van der Meer, the new study's leader, says this suggests that when we write by hand, we remember better. “This is because writing involves complex movements that activate more areas of the brain. The increased brain activity gives the brain more ‘hooks’ to hang your memories on,” she explains. Van der Meer also points out that writing by hand is related to visual notetaking. “Rather than typing blindly, the visual notetaker has to think about what is important to write down. Then, key words can be interlinked by boxes, arrows and small drawings,” she adds. This study does not recommend banning digital devices. In fact, its authors point out, computers and other devices with keyboards have become necessary in modern society. Keyboarding can especially benefit those with certain special needs (such as if they have trouble using their hands) and typing beats writing when it comes tospeed, they add.4. Why were participants asked to wear caps in the study?A. To record their brainwavesB. To inform them of their tasksC. To allow them to focus on writingD. To protect their heads like hair nets5. What does Audrey van der Meer try to explain?A. Why handwriting is more complex than typingB. Why the brain works when it comes to learningC. Why handwriting helps remember informationD. Why key words are helpful to visual notetaking6. What is the study's authors' view on typing?A. It relieves people's handsB. It remains vital and helpfulC. It is not worth recommendingD. It is more challenging than writing7. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?A. How Can You Remember New Information?B. Handwriting Benefits Health in the LongRunC. Should Typing Take the Place of Handwriting?D. Handwriting Is Better for Memory Than TypingCThese days, football is one of the most popular sports in the world. Given that Neil Armstrong wanted to take a football to the Moon, we could even say that it is also the most popular sport out of this world! The history of the game goes back over two thousand years to Ancient China. It was then known as cuju (kick ball), a game using a ball of animal skins with hair inside. Goals were hung in the air. Football as we know it today started inGreat Britain, where the game was given new rules. That football is such a simple game to play is perhaps the basis of its popularity. It is also a game that is very cheap to play. You don’t need expensive equipment; even the ball doesn’t have to cost much money. All over the world you can see kids playing to their hearts’ content with a ball made of plastic bags.Another factor behind football’s global popularity is the creativity and excitement on the field. It is fun enough to attract millions of people. You do not have to be a fan to recognize the skill of professional players or to feel the excitement of a game ending with a surprising twist. What’s more, football has become one of the best ways for people to communicate: it does not require words, but everyone understands it. It breaks down walls and brings people together on and off the field.“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, ...” said Bill Shankly, the famous footballer andmanager. “I can tell you with certainty it is much, much more important than that.” This might sound funny, but one only has to think about the Earth to realize that our planet is shaped like a football.8. What can we know from paragraph one?A. Some people like to play football on the Moon.B. The game called cuju was given new rules today.C. Cuju is different from football as we know it today.D. Many people like playing a ball made of plastic bags.9. According to the author, there are ________ reasons why football became so popular in the world.A. 3B. 4C. 5D. 610. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?A. Football is round.B. Football is more than just a sport.C. Our planet is shaped like a football.D. What Bill Shankly said sounds funny.11. What’s the author’s purpose in writing the passage?A. To talk about the history of football.B. To express his/her love of football.C. To explain why football is such a popular game.D. To prove that he/she is a professional football fan.DKids often admire well-known celebrities, putting posters of their favorite musicians, movie stars and athletes on their bedroom walls. AEDGEWOOD—Every morning at Dixie Heights High school, customers pour into a special experiment:the district’s first coffee shop run mostly by students with special learning needs.Well before classes start, students and teachers order Lattes, Cappuccinos and Hot Chocolates. Then, during the first period, teachers call in orders on their room phones, and students make deliveries. By closing time at 9:20 a.m., the shop usually sells 90 drinks. “Whoever made the chi tea, Ms. Schatzman says it was good,〞Christy McKinley, a second year student, announced recently, after hanging up with the teacher. The shop is called the Dixie PIT, which stands for Power in Transition. Although some of the students are not disabled, many are, and the PIT helps them prepare for life after high school. They learn not only how to run a coffee shop but also how to deal with their affairs. They keep a timecard and receive paychecks, which they keep in check registers.Special-education teachers Kim Chevalier and Sue Casey introduced the Dixie PIT from a similar program at Kennesaw Mountain High School in Georgia. Not that it was easy. Chevalier’s first problem to overcome w as product-related. Should schools be selling coffee? What about sugar content? Kenton County Food Service Director Ginger Gray helped. She made sure all the drinks, which use non-fat milk, fell within nutrition guidelines.21.The coffee shop is mostly run by _________.A. all the studentsB. all the teachersC. students with special learning needsD. some special-education teachers22. When does the coffee shop close?A. In the early morning.B. At 9:20 a.m.C. At 9 a.m.D. In the afternoon.23. The Dixie PIT program was introduced in order to _________.A. raise money for school affairsB. do some research on nutritionC. supply teachers with drinksD. develop students’ practical skillsBHave you ever wondered where the chocolate in your favorite candy bar comes from? Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, which grows in warm, tropical areas of West Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, and South America. And who eats the delicious chocolate made from the cacao grown in these places? The majority of chocolate is consumed in Europe and North America. This probably sounds like a familiar story—developing countries produce inexpensive raw materials that are manufactured and sold as finished goods in developed countries, and generally, that is what happens with chocolate. Large chocolate companies buy cacao beans at a low price and produce cocoa and chocolate products to sell at a relatively high price. But the familiar story has a new chapter. Beginning in the 1980s, some consumers learned that cacao farmers were living difficult and uncertain lives. The farmers received money for their crops based on world markets, and the market price for cacao was sometimes so low that farmers received less for their crops than the crops had cost to produce. In response, groups of consumers in Europe and the UnitedStates developed “fair trade〞 organizations to guarantee that farmers of cacao, as well as coffee and tea, would receive fair and consistent prices for their crops.Fair trade organizations benefit farmers by buying cacao beans or other products from them directly at higher-than-market prices and eliminating (除去) “middle men〞 such as exporters. Fair trade organizations also encourage farming techniques that are not harmful to the environment or to farm workers, for example, growing cacao without chemical pesticides or fertilizers in the shade of rain forest trees. One organization, Equal Exchange, helps farmers set up farming cooperatives in which they can share resources and work on projects such as community schools. Another, Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO), guarantees that products bearing its label meet standards that improve the lives of growers and producers. The results of fair trade are a better standard of living for some farmers and nicer chocolate bars made with organically produced cocoa that consumers don’t feel guilty about buying. And although fair trade chocolate is somewhat more expensive than other chocolate and now makes up only 1% of chocolate sold, the fair trade idea is spreading quickly. You may soon see fair trade chocolate right next to the more famous bars in your favorite store.24. The underlined word “that〞 in Para. 1 refers to _________.A. the unfair trade between countriesB. the high price of chocolate productsC. the traditional production of raw materialsD. the major consumption of the finished food25. The organization Equal Exchange aims to_________.A. promote chocolate salesB. offer support to the farmersC. reduce the cost of growing cropsD. increase the production of chocolate26. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?A. There will be more fair trade chocolate in the future.B. Fair trade chocolate is not as tasty as other chocolate.C. Consumers feel guilty about buying fair trade chocolate.D. There is probably no reason to worry about cacao farmers.27. The passage is written to _________.A. give tips on how to undertake fair chocolate tradeB. advise people to join in Fair trade organizationsC. encourage farmers to adopt organic farmingD. inform people of fair trade chocolateCDoes happiness have a scent? When someone is happy, can you smell it?You can usually tell when someone is happy based on seeing them smile, hearing them laugh or perhaps from receiving a bighug. But can you also smell their happiness? Surprising new research suggests that happiness does indeed have a scent, and that the experience of happiness can be transmitted through smell, reports .For the study, 12 young men were shown videos meant to bring about a variety of emotions while researchers gathered sweat samples from them. All of the men were healthy and none of them were drug users or smokers, and all were asked to abstain from drinking or eating smelly foodsduring the study period. Those sweat samples were then given to 36 equally healthy young women to smell, while researchers monitored their reactions. Only women were selected to smell the samples, apparently because previous research has shown that women have a better sense of smell than men and are also more sensitive to emotional signaling—though it's unclear why only men were chosen to produce the scents.Researchers found that the behavior of the women after smelling the scents—particularly their facial expressions—indicated a relationship between the emotional states of the men who produced the sweat and the women who sniffed them.“Human sweat produced when a pers on is happy brings about a state similar to happiness in somebody who breathes this smell,〞 said study co-author Gun Semin, a professor at Koc University in Turkey. This is a fascinating finding because it not only means that happiness does have a scent, but that the scent is capable of transmitting the emotion to others. The study also found that other emotions, such as fear, seem to carry a scent too. This ensures previous research suggesting that some negative emotions have a smell, but it is the first time this has proved to be true of positive feelings.Researchers have yet to isolate(别离) exactly what the chemical compoundfor the happiness smell is, but you might imagine what the potential applications for such a finding could be. Happiness perfumes, for instance, could be invented. Scent therapies (香味疗法) could also be developed to help people through depression or anxiety.Perhaps the most surprising result of the study, however, is our broadened understanding of how emotions get communicated, and also how our own emotions are potentially managed through our social context and the emotional states of those around us.28. What is the main finding of the new research?A. Men produce more sweats.B. Negative emotions have a smell.C. Pleasant feelings can be smelt out.D. Women have a better sense of smell.29. The underlined part “abstain from〞 in Paragraph 3 probably means _________.A. avoidB. practiceC. continueD. try30 What is the application value of the new research?A. Perfumes could help people understand each other.B. Some smells could be developed to better our mood.C. Perfumes could be produced to cure physical diseases.D. Some smells could be created to improve our appearance.31 We can learn from the last paragraph that .A. happiness comes from a scent of sweatB. positive energy can deepen understandingC. people need more emotional communicationD. social surroundings can influence our emotionsDConventional wisdom is a major barrier to innovation〔创新〕 that threatens the survival of companies everywhere. It’s based on the assumption that old ideas will always work, so they shouldn’t be challenged. While this may be a valid assumption in situations that don’t change, it’s unlikely to hold true in a changin g situation. In today’s rapid changing global environment, old methods often don't work, and stubbornly using them can lead to major problems. Most people seem to agree with conventional wisdom because it gives one a false sense of security. If everyone else believes it, then it must be true. Individuals who use conventional wisdom are certain that they are right, and being right is good. They want to continue using old ideas rather than take risks with changes that might not work. In 1977, Ken Olsen, co-founder and CEO of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), stated “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.〞Despite being a dominant leader in the computer industry, DEC no longer exists.People seem to forget that since innovation is a change, there can be no innovation without change. Unfortunately, conventional wisdom prevents leaders, followers and companies from changing and therefore innovating. If companies don’t innovate, but their competitors do, the future is likely to be pr oblematic.Breaking from conventional wisdom has led to many of the most innovative companies and products in history across many industries, so it has a powerful effect on business success.Ted Turner (founder of CNN) knew little, if anything, about the news business, but he knew it was inconvenient to watch news only at the dinner hour, as was common before CNN. Turner’s solution was to create a cable channel dedicated to news 24 hours a day. The news establishment reflected conventional wisdom at the time, and predicted his idea would fail because no one wanted to watch the news all day. However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that viewers don’t have to watch the news all day for the CNN to work.Viewers just have to watch when they want to get information. Due to conventional thinking, the critics failed to recognize the opportunity that was clear to Ted. They assumed that only what was familiar to them could work in the future.Conventional wisdom prevents creativity, flexibility and risk-taking, so unconventional leaders enthusiastically break from it. To survive, thrive (茁壮成长) and maintain competitive advantage, companies must be flexible when reacting to change.32. DEC has disappeared probably because ___________.A. the consumers didn’t like its productsB. the leaders lacked the sense of securityC. the CEO stuck to the conventional ideasD. the employees took many risks with changes33. The founding of CNN is used as an example to prove _________.A. missing opportunities could lead to failureB. changing could contribute to business successC. watching news at the dinner hour is convenientD. conventional wisdom influences business success34. What does the underlined part probably mean?A. Rocket scientists can ensure the CNN works properly.B. Most of the viewers don’t like to watch the news at work.C. It’s necessary to understand when people watch the news.D. It’s easy to know people needn’t watch the news all the time.35. The passage is mainly written to tell us that __________.A. old methods are changing with timeB. opportunities lead to business successC. conventional wisdom limits innovationD. successful companies need wise leaders第二节〔共5小题;每一小题2分,共10分〕根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最优选项。

But the pressure of a full-time job and college classes was hard to bear. One Friday afternoon, a co-worker asked about my weekend plans. I tried to avoid these conversations because I had no money and schoolwork was demanding. To prevent any further conversation, I said,"Oh, I am taking a mini vacation, just a little weekend holiday.”There was surprise but no further conversation."What a cheat I am,"I thought."And they will want details on Monday. It will just stress me more when they all find out that I lied."On the long drive home from work, I made a plan. I could pretend I was on vacation and never go anywhere. At home, I pulled down all the shades, checked my messages and shut off the phone. Then I jumped in the shower and put on sweats. With some snacks in my easy reach, I took out three books that I had been anxious to read for the past months."Well, I am on vacation. This can be my imaginary holiday. I will check in with the world on Monday morning,"I said to myself. Then I cracked open the first book. By Sunday evening, I was well into the third book. When the alarm went off on Monday morning, I dressed, had breakfast and went to work.I was busy when several co-workers came by."Wow,"they said,"you must have had a great vacation. You look so rested.”It wasn't until then that I realized I wasn't stressed anymore."Maybe,"I told them,"it was just an imaginary holiday."They laughed and went off to their desks.I did graduate from college eventually and got a job with some paid vacation. But I still take imaginary holidays where I turn off the phone and electronics, tell everyone that I will be "away" and spend a weekend reading.I have decided that imaginary holidays are one way I can take care of myself.Perhaps that was part of my college education.4.How did the author feel when talking about weekend plans?A.Grateful.B.Surprised.C.Excited.D. Reading scores in Los Angeles Unified dipped only slightly from 2019 to 2022.Still, only 41% of students in 2022 were skilled in reading. Math scores in Fresno dropped by a third. In2022, only 21% of students met the math standard. Reading scores in Long Beach dropped 11 points, but declines were less steep in math. Math scores fell only 4 points."That's not a surprise, considering the difficulties teachers and students faced as they returned from distance learning," said Robert Sahli, a headmaster."The epidemic was tough for everyone .... But these scores signal that we need to make a personalized, intensive effort to help kids catch up and recoup what they've lost."Like other districts,Lodi has hired more tutors and teachers to help students catch up, beefed up summer school and after-school academic offerings, adopted new curricula(课程)and taken other steps to help students."Steps like that could be the most useful result of the Smarter Balanced scores,"said Lucrecia Santibanez, associate professor of education at UCLA."Closely analyzing the data and using it to forge a path forward — specifically for certain groups of students— are more useful than assigning blame," she said."Although the scores are disappointing, they can be an important tool to help schools find resources in the future," she said."The scores can provide a window into what exact content students have missed, where they're falling behind and which students need the most help."8.What is mainly talked about in paragraph 2?A. Study participants were playing the Sea Hero Quest mobile game, a citizen science program. It was designed to aid Alzheimer's disease research by revealing differences in navigational(导航的)abilities. In addition to completing tasks testing navigational ability, anyone playing the game was asked to answer questions about people's characteristics as well as other questions that could be useful to the research, such as on sleep patterns. The researchers found that people sleep an average of 7.01 hours per night, with women sleeping 7.5 minutes longer than men on average. They found that the youngest participants in the sample(minimum age 19)slept the most, and sleep duration declined throughout people's 20s and early 30s before steadying until their early 50s and increasing again. The pattern, including the newly-identified key time points of age 33when declining sleep steadies and 53 for sleep to increase again, was the same for men and women, and across countries and education levels.Professor Spiers said:"Former studies have found associations between age and sleep duration, but ours is the first large study to identify these three distinct phases across the life course. We found that across the globe, people sleep less during mid-adulthood, but average sleep duration varies between regions and between countries."People who report sleeping the most are in Eastern European countries such as Albania, and Romania, reporting 20-40 minutes extra sleep per night and the least in South East Asian countries including Malaysia and Indonesia. People in the United Kingdom reported sleeping slightly less than the average. People tend to sleep a bit less in countries closer to the equator like Uganda. The researchers found navigational ability was unaffected by sleep duration for most of the sample, except for among older adults(aged 54-70) whose perfect sleep duration was seven hours, but pointed out the findings might be impacted by health conditions.12.What were the participants asked to do?A. Reply to some questions.B.Design a mobile game.C. Aid people with Alzheimer.D.Share solutions to sleep problems.13.What is one finding of the new study?A.Older adults often suffer from sleep problems.B. Men tend to sleep minutes longer than women.C.There is a link between age and sleep duration.D.People sleep the least from early 30s to early 50s.14.What can we infer from Professor Spiers' words?A.Middle-aged people have similar sleep habit.B.Sleep duration varies from person to person.C. They found out the link between age and sleep.D.There was no such study in adults' sleep before.15.In which country do people need the minimum sleep?A.Romania.B. Uganda.C.Indonesia.D.The United Kingdom.第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

AEDGEWOOD — Every morning at Dixie Heights High school, customers pour into a special experiment: the district’s first coffee shop run mostly by students with special learning needs.Well before classes start, students and teachers order Lattes, Cappuccinos and Hot Chocolates. Then, during the first period, teachers call in orders on their room phones, and students make deliveries. By closing time at 9:20 a.m., the shop usually sells 90 drinks. “Whoever made the chi tea, Ms. Schatzman says it was good,” Christy McKinley, a second year student, announced recently, after hanging up with the teacher. Chevalier’s first problem to overcome was product-related. Should schools be selling coffee? What about sugar content? Kenton County Food Service Director Ginger Gray helped. She made sure all the drinks, which use non-fat milk, fell within nutrition guidelines.21. The coffee shop is mostly run by _________.A. all the studentsB. all the teachersC. students with special learning needsD. some special-education teachers22. When does the coffee shop close?A. In the early morning.B. At 9:20 a.m.C. At 9 a.m.D. In the afternoon.23. The Dixie PIT program was introduced in order to _________.A. raise money for school affairsB. do some research on nutritionC. supply teachers with drinksD. develop students’ practica l skillsBHave you ever wondered where the chocolate in your favorite candy bar comes from? In response, groups of consumers in Europe and the United States developed “fair trade”organizations to guarantee that farmers of cacao, as well as coffee and tea, would receive fair and consistent prices for their crops.Fair trade organizations benefit farmers by buying cacao beans or other products from them directly at higher-than-market prices andeliminating (除去) “middle men”such as exporters. The underlined word “that” in Para. When someone is happy, can you smell it?You can usually tell when someone is happy based on seeing them smile, hearing them laugh or perhaps from receiving abig hug. But can you also smell their happiness? Surprising new research suggests that happiness does indeed have a scent, and that the experience of happiness can be transmitted through smell, reports .For the study, 12 young men were shown videos meant to bring about a variety of emotions while researchers gathered sweat samples from them. All of the men were healthy and none of them were drug users or smokers, and all were asked to abstain from drinking or eating smelly foods during the study period. Those sweat samples were then given to 36 equally healthy young women to smell, while researchers monitored their reactions. Only women were selected to smell the samples, apparently because previous research has shown that women have a better sense of smell than men and are also more sensitive to emotional signaling —though it's unclear why only men were chosen to produce the scents.Researchers found that the behavior of the women after smelling the scents —particularly their facial expressions —indicated a relationship between the emotional states of the men who produced the sweat and the women who sniffed them.“Human sweat produced when a person is happy brings about a state similar to happiness in somebody who breathes this smell,” said study co-author Gun Semin, a professor at Koc University in Turkey. This is a fascinating finding because it not only means that happiness does have a scent, but that the scent is capable of transmitting the emotion to others. The study also found that other emotions, such as fear, seem to carry a scent too. This ensures previous research suggesting that some negative emotions have a smell, but it is the first time this has proved to be true of positive feelings.Researchers have yet to isolate (分离) exactly what the chemical compound for the happiness smell is, but you might imagine what the potential applications for such a finding could be. The underlined part “abstain from” in Paragraph 3 probably means _________.A. avoidB. practiceC. continueD. try30 What is the application value of the new research?A. Perfumes could help people understand each other.B. Some smells could be developed to better our mood.C. Perfumes could be produced to cure physical diseases.D. Some smells could be created to improve our appearance.31 We can learn from the last paragraph that .A. happiness comes from a scent of sweatB. positive energy can deepen understandingC. people need more emotional communicationD. social surroundings can influence our emotionsDConventional wisdom is a major barrier to innovation(创新) that threatens the survival of companies everywhe re. It’s based on the assumption that old ideas will always work, so they shouldn’t be challenged. While this may be a valid assumption in situations that don’t change, it’s unlikely to hold true in a changing situation. In today’s rapid changing global environment, old methods often don't work, and stubbornly using them can lead to major problems. Most people seem to agree with conventional wisdom because it gives one a false sense of security. If everyone else believes it, then it mustbe true. Individuals who use conventional wisdom are certain that they are right, and being right is good. They want to continue using old ideas rather than take risks with changes that might not work. In 1977, Ken Olsen, co-founder and CEO of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), stated “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.”Despite being a dominant leader in the computer industry, DEC no longer exists.People seem to forget that since innovation is a change, there can be no innovation without change. Unfortunately, conventional wisdom prevents leaders, followers and companies from changing and therefore innovating. If companies don’t innovate, but their competitors do, the future is likely to be problematic. Breaking from conventional wisdom has led to many of the most innovative companies and products in history across many industries, so it has a powerful effect on business success.Ted Turner (founder of CNN) knew little, if anything, about the news business, but he knew it was inconvenient to watch news only at the dinner hour, as was common before CNN. Turner’s solution was to create a cable channel dedicated to news 24 hours a day. The news establishment reflected conventional wisdom at the time, and predicted his idea would fail because no one wanted to watch the news all day. However, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that viewers don’t have to watch the news all day for the CNN to work. Viewers just have to watch when they want toget information. The passage is mainly written to tell us that __________.A. old methods are changing with timeB. opportunities lead to business successC. conventional wisdom limits innovationD. successful companies need wise leaders第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
