The Weather in My Hometown Chenzhou
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader living in the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province, China. Today I want to tell you all about the weather we get here throughout the different seasons of the year. Weather is something that really fascinates me.
Let's start with spring! Spring in Chenzhou usually begins in late March and lasts until the end of May. The temperatures during this time range from cool to warm, with highs of around 70°F (21°C) by late May. We get quite a bit of rain in spr ing thanks to the plum rains that blow in from the south. April is often the wettest month of the year for us.
Even with all the rain, spring is one of my favorite seasons because everything starts blooming! The plum trees flower first, followed by peach blossoms, azaleas, roses, and so many other beautiful flowers. The fresh green leaves sprout on the trees too, making the whole city look alive and colorful again after the drab
winter months. I love wandering through the parks and soaking in all the sights and smells of spring.
By early June, summer has arrived in Chenzhou! Let me tell you, our summers can get blazing hot and humid. High temperatures often reach into the 90s°F (35°C) and occasionally over 100°F (38°C)! The hot and sticky weather con tinues until around late August.
We don't get as much rainfall during the summer months compared to spring, but we do occasionally see thunderstorms roll through. Thunderstorms can be scary with all the booming thunder and bright lightning flashes, but I secretly enjoy watching them from inside the safety of our home.
My favorite thing about summer is being able to spend time at the swimming pool and waterparks to cool off from the heat. I'll splash around in the water for hours! We always keep cold drinks like lemonade and iced tea stocked at home too.
Fall arrives in September and is probably my favorite season in Chenzhou. The intense summer heat and humidity finally breaks, making way for dry, sunny days and pleasantly mild temperatures in th e 70s°F (20s°C). The clear autumn skies and lower humidity means amazing visibility of the nearby mountains
and forests that surround our city. I love going on hikes with my parents during this season to see all the colorful fall leaves.
One cool thing about fall in Chenzhou is the persimmon harvest! There are huge persimmon orchards around town, and in late October into November, the bright orange fruits are collected. Persimmons are so tasty and sweet - they're one of my favorite fall treats.
Finally we have winter, which runs from December through February. Winters here are cool rather than bitterly cold. Average highs are around 50°F (10°C) and we'll occasionally dip down into the 30s°F (0 to 5°C) during the coldest stretches.
We don't usually get much snowfall in Chenzhou, which is a bummer as I love playing in the snow! At most we'll get a light dusting a few times per winter that doesn't stick around long. More often we see a cold drizzly rain during the winter months.
Winter produce like persimmons, tangerines, cabbages, and sweet potatoes are common during this season. My grandma makes the most delicious sweet potato dessert soup! Staying warm in the winter is easy - we just bundle up in coats, hats, and scarves before going out and drink lots of hot tea once back inside.
Well, that's the year-round weather we experience here in Chenzhou! We really get a nice mix of all four seasons. I hope you enjoyed learning about the climate in my little corner of China. Thanks for reading!

The Changing Seasons in My Hometown of Chenzhou
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a student in 5th grade. I live in the city of Chenzhou, which is located in the northern part of Hunan Province in south-central China. Chenzhou has a subtropical humid climate, which means we experience four distinct seasons throughout the year. I'd like to tell you all about the seasons and weather where I live!
Spring (March - May)
Ah springtime, when everything starts coming back to life after the cold winter. This is one of my favorite times of year in Chenzhou. In early spring around March, the weather begins warming up from the winter chill. The daily highs climb into the 50s°F (10-15°C) and we start seeing blooms on the trees and flowers poking up through the ground.
As spring progresses into April and May, temperatures rise further into the 60s and 70s°F (18-25°C). The city becomes lush and green again. Springtime in Chenzhou brings plenty of rain showers, which can sometimes lead to thunderstorms. But the mild temperatures and blossoming flowers make spring feel so refreshing after winter.
Some of my favorite spring activities are flying kites with my friends in the parks, having picnics, and going on hikes to see all the new plant growth in the forests around Chenzhou. I love the colorful azalea flowers that bloom in abundance during spring here.
Summer (June - August)
Get ready for hot and humid days in the summer months! This season is famously sticky and sweltering in Chenzhou. Daily highs frequently soar into the 90s°F (32-37°C) and it's not uncommon to see heat waves exceeding 100°F (38°C). Summer is the rainiest season too, with frequent thunderstorms rolling through to provide short reprieves from the swampyhumid air.
Despite the soupy heat, summer is full of fun activities for kids like me! We love spending time at the swimming pools and water parks to stay cool and splash around. Eating ice cream and frozen treats is a must on sweltering afternoons. At night, my
family likes to break out the fans and sometimes the air conditioning when it's too muggy to sleep well.
While it's debilitating to be outdoors during the peak daytime heat, I enjoy venturing out in the early mornings and evenings when it's more comfortable. Catching lightning bugs and listening to the cicadas provide nostalgic summer memories I'll always cherish from growing up in Chenzhou.
Autumn (September - November)
After the intensity of summertime, autumn arrives as a welcomed relief of cooler and drier weather. This is my absolute favorite season in Chenzhou! The temperatures start moderating in September, bringing daytime highs down into the 70s°F (22-27°C). B y October and November, we often have beautiful sunny days with highs around 60°F (15-20°C) and crisp, cool nights.
The vibrant fall colors are one of the top highlights when autumn arrives in Chenzhou. The trees in parks and lining neighborhood streets transform into brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. I look forward every year to seeing the stunning crimson leaves on the sweet gum trees and the warm hues of the ginkgo trees. Breathtaking!
Autumn is the perfect season for fun outdoor activities like hiking, camping, flying kites, and having picnics while the weather is dry and comfortable. My family and I love going to pick fresh fruits and vegetables from orchards and farms in the countryside around Chenzhou during this bountiful harvest season. Eating piping hot street foods like kebabs and candied hawthorn fruits is another quintessential autumn experience.
Winter (December - February)
Here comes the chilly, damp winter weather. While not extremely frigid, winters are quite cold and dreary in Chenzhou. Average daily highs in December through February only reach about 45-50°F (7-10°C). At night, temperatures often dip below freezing, down to around 30°F (-1°C).
We tend to get lots of cloudy days, fog, and persistent light rain or drizzle during the winter months. The constant dampness and lack of sunshine can feel a bit depressing at times. However, we do occasionally get crisp, clear days with beautiful blue skies – which I absolutely love! Those are the perfect winter days for bundling up and playing outside.
Even though it's chilly, winter in Chenzhou doesn't bring too much snowfall. We may get a few light dustings of snow each year, but significant accumulation is rare. Sledding is difficult, but
having the occasional snowball fight is always a blast! I enjoy indoor activities like drawing, reading, and playing video games to pass the winter days inside where it's warm and cozy.
No matter the season, I feel very lucky to experience the changing weather and natural beauty that comes with living in Chenzhou. While scorching summers and damp winters can be tough, the mesmerizing spring blooms and dazzling autumn colors make it all worthwhile. I can't imagine growing up anywhere else!

The Weather in My Hometown of Chenzhou
Hello! My name is Xiaoming and I live in the beautiful city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province, China. I love my hometown because we get to experience all four seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter. The weather changes a lot throughout the year, and each season is special in its own way.
Spring is definitely one of my favorite times of year in Chenzhou. After the cold winter months, the warm spring sunshine feels so nice! The temperatures usually start getting warmer in March, with daily highs around 18-22°C (64-72°F). April and May bring plenty of rain showers which helps all the
plants and trees grow green leaves and colorful flowers again. I love seeing the peach and cherry blossoms bloom all over the city parks and gardens. Spring in Chenzhou is very humid though, so the air feels heavy and sticky some days.
Once summer arrives in June, get ready for heat and humidity! The summer months of July and August are extremely hot, with temperatures often reaching 35-38°C (95-100°F). It feels even hotter because of the high humidity. My parents always tell me to drink lots of water and wear a hat when playing outside in the summer sun. The hottest part of summer is also the rainy season, with thunderstorms happening almost every afternoon. I don't mind though, because the rain helps cool things off a bit! Summer nights are still pretty warm, around 25°C (77°F), but that's perfect weather for catching fireflies with my friends after dark.
My favorite season is probably fall because the weather is just perfect - not too hot and not too cold. Autumn begins in September with clear blue skies and comfortable temps around 25-28°C (77-82°F) during the days. At night it cools down into the high teens Celsius. By November the daily highs are only
15-20°C (59-68°F) and the leaves on all the trees turn beautiful shades of red, yellow, and orange before falling off. The cooler
fall air feels so crisp and refreshing after the heat and humidity of summer. I can't wait to go on hikes with my family and kick through all the fallen leaves!
Finally, winter rolls around to Chenzhou in December. This is definitely the coldest season, though we don't get extreme freezing conditions like in the far north of China. Daily highs are only about 10°C (50°F) with overni ght lows around 2-5°C
(35-41°F). We sometimes get snow flurries in January and February which is really exciting! However, winter in Chenzhou is mostly just dry and overcast with chilly winds. By late February I'm always eager for spring's arrival again to warm things back up.
So those are the four seasons I experience living in Chenzhou! Each one brings different types of weather, from the heavy rains of spring to the intense summer heat, the perfect fall days, and the chilly but rarely freezing winters. I feel lucky to be able to enjoy such a variety of weather all year long in my hometown. No matter the season, there's always something new and fun about the ever-changing skies and temperatures of Chenzhou!

The Changing Seasons in Chenzhou
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm going to tell you all about the weather in the different seasons where I live in Chenzhou, China. Get ready to learn some cool stuff!
Spring in Chenzhou (March - May)
Spring is such an exciting time of year! After the cold winter, everything starts coming back to life. The trees grow new green leaves, pretty flowers start blooming, and baby animals are born. The weather gets warmer too - hooray for playing outside without bundling up!
In early spring, it's still a bit chilly, especially at night. We might even get some late snowfall in March. But as we get closer to May, the temperatures rise and we have a lot of mild, sunny days. Spring showers are common too, bringing rain to help the plants grow. I love the fresh, green smell after it rains.
One weird thing about spring in Chenzhou is that it can be super windy! The winds blow in from the northwest and they're famously strong. Sometimes they bring yellow dusty air from the deserts faraway. Mom makes me wear a face mask when it's really dusty out. But the winds also make it fun to fly kites!
Summer in Chenzhou (June - August)
Summer is definitely the hottest season in Chenzhou. The temperatures rise up to the 90s Fahrenheit (over 35°C)! With the intense humidity too, it feels like you're wrapped in a hot, sticky blanket when you go outside. Ugh, I hate that feeling!
To beat the heat and humidity, most families like mine have air conditioning at home. The shopping malls and movie theaters are packed too since everyone wants to hang out somewhere cool. If we do have to go out in the heat, we carry umbrellas to block the sun and hand-held fans to make a breeze.
The summer rainy season starts in May and peaks in June and July. We get periods of super heavy rain called "plum rains." Everything floods and there's water puddles everywhere! The thunder and lightning can be scary too. But I love watching the intense summer storms roll in.
One nice thing is that Chenzhou has lots of rivers, lakes, and swimming pools to cool off in during summer. My favorite is going to the water park and racing down the huge water slides. We even take trips out to the beaches on the nearby Yangchun Lake. Splashing around and eating ice cream is the best way to survive the scorching summer!
Autumn in Chenzhou (September - November)
After the intensity of summer, autumn feels so nice and refreshing. The temperatures start dropping in September and the humidity finally goes away. We can open up the windows and let in the crisp, cool air. Hoodies and sweaters come out of the closet again.
The leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. It's so pretty walking through the parks and crunching leaves under my feet. Sometimes we go on hikes in the nearby hills to see all the colorful fall foliage. My art teacher has us gather the fallen leaves to press them and use them for leaf rubbings and prints.
Autumn is also harvest season, when farmers pick all the crops like rice, corn, and fruits that grew over the summer. We have big festivals and eat lots of delicious harvest foods like moon cakes, taro, and sweet potatoes. My grandparents bring us bags of freshly picked oranges, pomelos, and persimmons from their orchards.
The weather turns drier in fall after the summer rains. Some days are sunny and pleasant, while other days are overcast and gray. We might get some light rain showers, but no real heavy storms. As we get closer to winter in November, the morning air starts feeling frosty and we bundle up more.
Winter in Chenzhou (December - February)
Even though Chenzhou doesn't get super freezing temperatures, winter is still pretty chilly for us! The days hover around 50°F (10°C) and the nights often dip below freezing. Brrrr! We have to wear our heaviest jackets, hats, scarves, and gloves when heading outside.
Unlike the north of China which gets lots of snow, we don't see much snow at all in Chenzhou over winter. Just some light dustings now and then that quickly melt away. But the skies are pretty gray and gloomy for much of the season. Everything looks bare, dry, and dormant with no leaves on the trees.
One special winter event is the huge Chinese New Year celebration! We get almost an entire month off from school. My grandparents give me and my siblings little red envelopes stuffed with cash. We set off strings of firecrackers and watch amazing fireworks shows. Our whole family gathers together to eat special festive dishes like dumplings, noodles, and hot pot.
After the New Year, winter starts winding down through January and February. We get periods of light rain that brings a damp chill. The days get a little longer and the peach blossoms start blooming - an early sign that spring is finally on its way again.
I hope you enjoyed learning about how the seasons change throughout the year here in Chenzhou. Even though summer is awfully hot and sticky, I still love experiencing the cycle of spring, summer, fall, and winter. The changing weather helps mark the different holidays and special times each year. Where do you live? I'd love to hear what the seasons are like there too! Thanks for reading.

The Weather in Chenzhou Through the Year
Hi, my name is Xiaoming and I live in the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province, China. I'm going to tell you all about the weather we get in the different seasons here. The weather is constantly changing throughout the year!
Spring arrives in Chenzhou around March. After the cold winter, the warm spring temperatures feel so nice. The average temperature is around 15-20°C (59-68°F). However, the spring weather can be quite unpredictable. One day may be sunny and pleasant, while the next day could be rainy and gloomy. We often get thunderstorms in the spring too. The loud booming thunder can be scary, but I think the bright flashes of lightning are cool! Spring is also when trees grow new green leaves and
flowers start blooming, which makes everything look so colorful and pretty.
Summer comes to Chenzhou in June and it gets really hot and humid. The summer temperatures usually range from
25-35°C (77-95°F). Wow, that's HOT! My friends and I love going to the pool or splashing around in the water park to cool off. Some summer days can be sunny and clear, but we also get a lot of rain from the East Asian monsoon. When the heavy rains come, we have to be careful of flooding. The hot, sticky air in the summer can feel suffocating, but that's why many people have air conditioning. At night, there are lots of cute fireflies blinking in the fields which is magical to watch.
The autumn season starts in September and it's one of my favorite times of year. The weather turns more mild and comfortable, with average temperatures around 15-25°C
(59-77°F). We don't need air conditioning or heaters. The skies are often a beautiful bright blue. The leaves on the trees transform into vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow before falling off, creating a colorful carpet on the ground. My friends and I have fun kicking up piles of crunchy leaves. The only downside of autumn is we sometimes get hit by strong typhoons that cause heavy wind and rain.
Finally, winter rolls around in December. Winter in Chenzhou isn't as freezing as northern China, but it does get quite chilly. The average low temperatures are about 3-8°C (37-46°F). Brrr, time to bundle up in coats, hats and scarves! In the winter we rarely get much snow, but we do see frosty conditions with ice on the ground some mornings. The winter sky can look gloomy and gray for days. My parents always remind me to dress warmly when playing outside. By late February, I'm wishing for spring's arrival again so I don't have to feel so cold!
Well, that's the cycle of spring, summer, fall and winter weather here in my city. All the seasons are quite different and have their pros and cons. But I'm grateful I don't live somewhere with extreme weather disasters like blizzards or hurricanes. I feel lucky to experience the regular seasonal changes in beautiful Chenzhou. Thanks for reading about my hometown's weather!

The Changing Seasons in Chenzhou
My name is Xiaoming, and I live in the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province, China. Chenzhou has a subtropical humid monsoon climate, which means we experience four distinct seasons throughout the year. Each season brings its own unique
weather patterns and temperatures. Let me tell you about the changing seasons in my hometown.
Spring (March to May)
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year in Chenzhou. After the cold winter months, the warm weather starts to return, and nature comes back to life. Spring is a time of renewal and growth.
In early spring, the temperatures are mild, with highs around 15-20°C (59-68°F). The skies are often clear and sunny, but occasional rain showers help to nourish the plants and flowers that are starting to bloom. As spring progresses, the days become warmer, with temperatures reaching up to 25-30°C (77-86°F) by late May.
One of the best things about spring in Chenzhou is the beautiful blooming flowers. Cherry blossoms, azaleas, and other colorful flowers decorate the city's parks and streets. The fresh, floral scents in the air make me feel so happy and energized.
Summer (June to August)
Summer in Chenzhou is hot and humid, with plenty of sunshine and occasional thunderstorms. This is the peak of the
monsoon season, so we often get heavy rainfall and high humidity levels.
Temperatures in summer can reach up to 35-40°C (95-104°F) during the day, making it feel incredibly hot and sticky. The high humidity can make it feel even hotter than the actual temperature. My friends and I love to cool off by going swimming or having water balloon fights during the summer break from school.
Despite the intense heat, summer is also a beautiful time in Chenzhou. The lush, green landscapes and vibrant flowers are in full bloom. Thunder often rumbles in the distance, and spectacular lightning shows light up the night sky during the frequent summer storms.
Autumn (September to November)
After the sweltering summer, autumn brings a welcome relief with cooler temperatures and drier air. This is my second favorite season in Chenzhou.
In early autumn, the temperatures are pleasantly warm, with highs around 25-30°C (77-86°F). As autumn progresses, the weather becomes cooler and more comfortable, with
temperatures dropping to around 15-20°C (59-68°F) by November.
The most stunning aspect of autumn in Chenzhou is the changing colors of the leaves. The city's parks and mountains are transformed into a breathtaking palette of reds, oranges, and yellows. The crisp, cool air and vibrant foliage make autumn the perfect time for hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
Winter (December to February)
Winter in Chenzhou is relatively mild compared to many other parts of China, but it still gets quite chilly and dry.
Temperatures in winter typically range from 5-15°C (41-59°F) during the day, but can drop below freezing at night. While we don't get much snowfall in the city, occasional light snow or frost is not uncommon.
Despite the cold weather, winter in Chenzhou has its own beauty. The bare trees and mountains create a serene, peaceful atmosphere. On clear days, the winter sun is bright and warm, making it a pleasant time to bundle up and spend time outdoors.
As you can see, Chenzhou experiences a diverse range of weather and temperatures throughout the changing seasons. From the blooming flowers of spring to the sweltering heat of
summer, the vibrant colors of autumn, and the crisp chill of winter, each season offers its own unique charms and character. I feel so lucky to experience the changing rhythms of nature in my beautiful hometown.。
