小石潭者，自成泥塘，初湖漪自号曰小石潭，后真水迤逦悄然
漫溢，世人称彼曰小石潭，几及迩也。

小石潭传说风闻久贻，小石潭有传。

其时红尘闭塞，人迹罕明。

时有老者往来山谷间问之，谓小石潭何如。

时老渔叟应之，曰：庭
座聚敛，若无太吾韵禄怀何！
常有道德经者登高视之，见小石潭并布之，赤光融融，方圆三
十丈。

时有老者泛舟其中问之，谓小石潭何如。

时以古之小石潭应之，曰：予助尔贤，若无苍生心愿何！
有一夕，颇有善士人至此，覩小石潭，心驰之，持壶中之物渡之，京华大商之子国士闻其善，损田宅荩受之。

即此年，国士生愈盛，家务旺昌，百姓凯迪。

何其善士人也！小石潭沉思之。

Small Stone Pond, originally a mud pit, was first named by ripples of the lake as Small Stone Pond. Later, clear water silently overflowed and people began to call it Small Stone Pond, almost reaching its true meaning.
The legend of Small Stone Pond has been circulating for a long time. At that time, the world was closed off and barely explored. There was an old man who went to the valleys and asked about Small Stone Pond. The old fisherman at that time responded, "It gathers and collects in the courtyard. Without the essence of the great Tao, what is there to be desired?"
Occasionally, those who studied the Tao Te Ching would climb up to have a look and saw Small Stone Pond spreading out, radiating a
reddish glow, with a circumference of thirty zhang. At that time, an old man rowed a boat in the pond and asked Small Stone Pond, "What is your essence?" The ancient Small Stone Pond answered, "I assist the wise. Without the benevolent wishes of all beings, what would there be?"
One evening, a virtuous gentleman arrived, viewed Small Stone Pond, and felt drawn to it. He took out something from his container and offered it to the pond. The son of a wealthy merchant in the capital heard about his good deeds, decreased his property, and accepted it gratefully.
From that year on, the merchant's son prospered, and his family business flourished, bringing happiness to the people. How virtuous that gentleman was! Small Stone Pond contemplated this deeply.。
