Unit 5 Nelson Mandela – a modern hero 学案
1. Teaching objectives
Language objective:
1.To learn some new words and phrases related to the topic and the text. Ability objective:
2.To develop the students’ r eading ability and learn to use some reading
strategies such as guessing, key sentences, skimming and scanning.

Analysis:Skimming: the first question requires students to look through the text as soon as possible and catch the main idea at the same time; to find out
some “W” and “How” to get the basic ideas;
Scanning & careful reading: further reading can improve students the
ability of catching important information, enlarging vocabulary and
enriching their knowledge.

Stephen Hawk ing was born in Oxford, England on 8th January, 1942.He went to school in St Albans—a small city near London. Although he did well, he was never top of his class.
