Period 3: Writing & Around the world &Module Task
Teaching Content: Writing & Around the world &Module Task
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Writing skill: Write about what one has achieved in English study. Improve
the students’ writing ability (难点).
2. To learn about Oxfam.
3. To write a leaflet to raise money for the Hope Schools. (重点)
4. Attitudes: We should help and care for each other.
Learning strategies
Top-down and Interactive approach and do some exercises.
Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder, video, OHP, handout)
Teaching Procedures:
Part I: Revision
Task: Help students to revise what was learnt in last module.
Directions:
(1). Revise the words and phrases.
(2).Let the Ss. retell the text.
Part II: Writing: Write some sentences using and, or, and but.
1.T ask: Write some sentences using and, or, a nd but.
Directions
Step One: Run through the sentences with the Ss. in Activity 6 on Page 29 and make sure that how and, or, and but are being used.
Step two: Help the Ss to wri te some more sentences using and, or, and but.
Step three: Work in pairs t o produce a minimum of one sentence of each type.
Step four: Call back a few examples from the whole class.
2.Task: Think about your education. Answer the questions in Activity 7 on page
29.
Directions
Step One: Read the questions in Activity 7 and make sure that the understand them.
Step two: Ask the Ss to ask and answer.
Step three: Call back the answe rs from the whole class, having one student ask
a question and another answer.
Step four: Then summarize: Learning to learn
Part III: Around the world
Task: Learn something about Oxfam.
Directions
Step One: Ask the Ss. to look at the different pictures about Oxfam.
Tell the Ss. some knowledge about them.
Step two: Read the text and answer any questions the Ss have.
Part IV: Module Task
Task: Write a leaflet to raise money for the Hope Schools.
Directions:
1.Activity 10 on page 33. Ask the Ss. to make a list of some things Project
Hope can do with your money.
2.Let the Ss look at some leaflets of various kinds to learn how they might
do it.
3.Circulate and monitor their production.
4.Arrange a show-and-tell session, so that the Ss. can see everyone else’s
work.
5.Arrange a discussion about which leaflets are most successful and why. Part V: Recalling
Recall what we have learned today.
Part VI: A test
Do Ex.13 on page 127 and hand in immediately.
Part VII: Homework: Do the Self-assessment on page 127.

Task1: To summarize and consolidate the usage of the present perfect tense . Directions
(1).Run through the examples with the Ss. and make sure that they are familiar
with the use of the present perfect tense.
(2). Ask the Ss. to repeat the sentences in the box.
(3). Ask“Can you make other similar examples?”
(4).Focus the Ss’ attention on the ways in which they are used:
Task2: Write 5 questions.
Directions:
(1). Do activity 2 on page 30 individually.
(2). Ask the Ss. to check with a partner.
(3). Ask the Ss. to read the 5 questions.
(4). Summarize: the formation of the present perfect how- questions. How long…
+have+ Sub. + p.p. … ?
Task 3: Ask and answer the questions you wrote just now.
Directions:
(1). Ask the Ss. to do Activity 3 on page 31 individually. Pair the Ss to ask the questions in Activity 2 and answer with the answers from Activ ity 3. We can also do Activity 1 and Activity 4 at this time.
(2).Circulate and monitor their production.
(3) Call the answers back from some pairs.
Task 4: Complete the passage using the correct form of the words and expressions Directions:
(1). Ask the Ss. to underline the correct answers in activity 5.
(2). Complete the passage using the correct form of the words and expressions in activity 6.
Task 5: Grasp the numbers
Directions:
(1). Ask the Ss. to do Activity 8 and Activity 9 on page 32 individually.
(2).Circulate and monitor their production.
(3) Call the answers back from some pairs.
Part III: A test
Do Ex 5 on page 125 in the WB. Let’s see who can finish it as soon as possible.
Part IV: Homework:
Finish all the exercises in the WB.。
