写一篇关于选择大学专业的英语作文Picking My Future Career Path
Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm in the 5th grade. I know I'm still really young, but lately I've been thinking a lot about what I want to be when I grow up. All the older kids are always talking about which colleges they want to go to and what they'll study there. It seems really important to pick the right major if you want to get your dream job later on.
I've had a few different ideas for careers over the years. When I was little, I really wanted to be a dinosaur for a while. That didn't last too long though once I realized dinosaurs aren't around anymore. Then I went through a phase where I was obsessed with being a firefighter. Fighting fires, rescuing people, riding the big truck - it all seemed so exciting! But now that I'm a little older, I'm not so sure I want a career with that much danger and intensity every single day.
For a long time, I really wanted to be a famous musician or actor when I grew up. I loved performing in our school talent shows and putting on little plays with my friends. The idea of being up on a big stage in front of thousands of cheering fans sounded like a dream come true. But then I learned how difficult
it is to actually make it big in those fields, and I started thinking more realistically.
My current career goal is to be a video game designer. I'm absolutely obsessed with gaming and I'm always coming up with ideas for new games I think would be super fun to play. Just this morning I had a great idea for a game where you get to explore outer space and travel to different galaxies and planets. You could choose to be different alien species and have to complete special missions. Maybe you could even get to battle alien armies and save the universe at some point! How cool would that be?
I know a career in game design requires a lot of coding and computer skills, which is something I'll need to work on for sure. But I'm hoping if I take classes like computer programming and animation in college, I can make that dream happen. From what I've read online, it seems like the best majors for preparing to be a video game designer are probably computer science, software engineering, or maybe even something like graphic design or multimedia arts. Those all sound pretty interesting to me.
Of course, I'm just a 10-year-old kid, so my career goals could change about a million times between now and when I actually go to college. But based on what I'm interested in right
now, I think pursuing a major that allows me to learn all about designing and developing cool new video games would be the way to go.
I try not to worry too much about making the "wrong" choice when it comes to my college major though. My parents always tell me that even if I end up changing paths later on, studying something I'm passionate about will help me develop important skills no matter what I end up doing. They remind me that it's not the end of the world if I change my mind along the way. As long as I work hard and follow my interests, they're confident I'll find something I really enjoy.
Still, picking a major is a huge decision that could really impact my entire future. It determines what classes I'll take, what kind of job opportunities I'll have, maybe even where I'll end up living. That's a lot of pressure when I'm just a little kid! But I figure if I keep an open mind, work hard in school, and explore lots of potential interests through extracurriculars, internships, etc., I'll hopefully have a good idea of what the right path is for me by the time I graduate high school.
For now though, I'm going to stop worrying so much about my major and career. I've got plenty of time to figure that out in the years ahead. I'm just going to focus on being a kid - playing
outside with my friends, doing well in my classes, and eating as many chicken nuggets as humanly possible before someone yells at me. Let the future sort itself out...I've got too much living to do right now to be stressing over academic and career decisions! After all, I'm only 10 years old. What do I know about the real world? I'll learn about that stuff later. For now, it's recess time!。
