OIL SYSTEM

1Objectives
(1)Understand the main features of aero engine oil systems;
(2)Understand the main components and their functions of the DGEN 380 engine oil
system;
(3)Learn to analyze the common failures of the DGEN 380 engine oil system and the
possible causes of failure.

3Test Procedure
(1)- Learn by yourself and describe the main components and their features of aero
engine oil systems;
-What are the differences between the oil system on the ground test bench and
the one mounted on a flying engine?
-What is the difference between the DGEN380 engine oil system on the ground test stand and the winged engine and why?
(2)Learn about the controls of the main control panel and the role of the emergency
switch “EMERGENCY” button;
(3)Turn on the power, open the switch buttons “PC” and “ON” on the main control
panel;
(4)Turn on the button “ADU” on the main control panel to start th e motor;
(5)Enter the computer control interface, start TESTLAB software;
(6)- Click on the control interface "GO" button to start the system;
-Click the "OIL V ALVE" button to open the valve;
-Adjust the "OM SETPOINT" button on the control interface to adjust the
speed;
(7)Actual oil supply characteristics experiment: Q=f(n)
-Adjust "OM SETPOINT" button to keep the speed unchanged;
-Keep the inlet pressure of the oil pump constant, set difference values through
the “OM SETPOINT” (30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%), re cord the rotating
speed “n”, the mass flow “Q”, the pump inlet pressure “P in”, and the pump
outlet pressure “P out” in a table.
(8)After recording the data, adjust the “SETPOINT TEMPERATURE” knob on the
computer control interface to adjust the speed to 0;
(9)Click “OIL V ALVE” button to close the valve;
(10)C lick “ADU” on the main control panel to stop the motor; (11) Click “OFF” on the
main control panel to close the whole system;
(12) Turn off the power.

2.For the oil system on a flying engine, the ACOC which allows the heat exchange between the air and oil works, but it does not work on the ground test stand.
Because the velocity of air is 0 on the ground test stand and it can not enter the ACOC.
